Most YouTube channels earn somewhere between $1 and $8 per 1,000 monetised views from ads, so a channel doing 100,000 views a month is looking at roughly $100 to $800 before niche and audience location move the number. Enter your monthly views, pick your niche and where most of your viewers live, and the calculator gives you a realistic low to high band per month and per 1,000 views. It runs entirely in your browser and nothing is stored.
The calculator
How the calculator works
It uses the figures creators publish about their own payouts rather than a single official rate, because neither platform publishes one. You get a band instead of one number on purpose: payouts move every month with advertiser demand, and a band is the honest answer.
The maths, so nothing is hidden
- Monetised views = your monthly views times 0.6, because ad blockers, skipped ads, ineligible videos and non-monetised countries mean only around six in ten views carry a paid ad.
- Base revenue = monetised views divided by 1,000, times the niche RPM. The niche figure is the ad revenue per 1,000 monetised views (RPM) that channels in that niche commonly report: finance around 8, business 5, tech 4.5, education 3.5, general 2.5, gaming 2, entertainment 1.5.
- Location multiplier: mostly US, UK, Canada and Australia 1.8; mostly Europe 1.2; mixed 1.0; Latin America 0.7; Southeast Asia and Africa 0.5; South Asia 0.45.
- Range = the adjusted figure minus 40 percent for the low end and plus 50 percent for the high end, because RPM swings that much month to month.
- Per 1,000 views divides the monthly band by your total views, so you can compare it with the numbers other creators quote.
Currency conversion uses fixed approximate rates (1 USD = 0.78 GBP, 0.92 EUR, 84 INR, 278 PKR), close enough for an estimate and not updated live.
What the estimate does not know about you
Video length, how many ad breaks you enable, the season (advertisers spend most in the run-up to December and least in January), and how many of your viewers are in high-value countries all move the real number. Use the band as your planning figure, then check it against your own analytics after a full month. For the same maths on Instagram, use the Instagram money calculator.

Frequently asked questions
How many views do you need to make money on YouTube?
You need 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 public watch hours in the past year or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days to join the Partner Programme, and after that every monetised view earns a share of the ad revenue. At typical rates, 100,000 monthly views is roughly $100 to $800 a month depending on niche and audience location.
How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?
Creators usually see $1 to $8 per 1,000 monetised views after YouTube's 45% cut. Finance and business channels sit at the top of that band, gaming and entertainment at the bottom, and a mostly US, UK, Canadian or Australian audience roughly doubles what a mostly South Asian audience earns.
Does YouTube pay for Shorts views?
Yes, but far less. Shorts ad revenue is pooled and shared, and most creators report around $0.03 to $0.10 per 1,000 Shorts views. The calculator assumes long-form views, so if most of your views are Shorts, use the low end of the band or lower.
Why does audience location matter so much?
Advertisers pay by country. A view from the United States can be worth ten times a view from Pakistan or India because the ads shown are priced for that market. Two channels with identical views and niches can earn very different amounts for this reason alone.
Is this calculator accurate?
It is an estimate from publicly reported creator figures, not a quote from YouTube. Your real revenue depends on ad demand in the month, video length, how many ad breaks you enable and how many viewers use ad blockers.
