1 Lakh Subscribers YouTube Income Per Month (2026): The First-Payment Checklist for India

YouTube doesn't publish a monthly income for 1 lakh (100,000) subscribers, because subscribers aren't part of how it pays you. What you earn depends on monetised views and the products you've switched on, and before a single rupee reaches your bank there's a checklist of approvals, thresholds and forms to clear.

A lakh of subscribers is a big moment. It's the Silver Creator Award, and it's 100 times the 1,000 subscribers you need to join the YouTube Partner Program. But it isn't a pay grade. This page skips the guessing and walks you through what has to be in place, in order, so your first payment from YouTube lands on time. Everything here comes from YouTube's own Help pages as of November 2026.

Why a lakh of subscribers isn't a monthly figure

YouTube's earnings overview is blunt about it. There are no guarantees under the partner agreement about how much, or even whether, you'll be paid. Earnings come from a share of advertising revenue from viewers watching your videos. Subscriber count doesn't appear anywhere in that formula.

That's why two channels with a lakh of subscribers each can earn wildly different amounts. One might have an engaged audience watching long videos every week. The other might have grown on a single viral Short and now gets a trickle of views. YouTube pays on the watching, not the following, so any article that hands you a fixed rupee figure per month for 100,000 subscribers is guessing.

What YouTube does publish is the share it pays on each product, as of November 2026: 55% of net ad revenue on your public videos on the Watch Page, 45% of what's allocated to you from the Shorts Creator Pool, and 70% of net revenue from channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers and Super Thanks.

The entry bar you still have to clear

Here's the catch a lot of creators with a lakh of subscribers run into: the subscribers alone don't get you into the Partner Program. As of November 2026 you need 1,000 subscribers plus one of these:

  • 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months, or
  • 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days.

Watch hours from views in the Shorts Feed don't count towards the 4,000. So a channel that reached 100,000 subscribers mostly through Shorts can be sitting well short of the watch-hours route. On top of the numbers, you need to follow YouTube's monetisation policies, live in a country where the programme is available, have no active Community Guidelines strikes, have 2-Step Verification on your Google Account, have access to advanced features, and have one active AdSense for YouTube account. If you want the full eligibility rundown, I've covered it in my guide to YouTube monetization in India.

Once you apply, YouTube says the review typically takes about a month. And keep this in mind for later: channels lose monetisation when they break the monetisation policies, whatever their watch hours and subscriber count.

Applying before or after 1 February 2027

If you're not in the programme yet, timing matters. From 1 February 2027, new creators will need 8,000 qualified watch hours in the last 365 days, or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days, plus 1,000 subscribers. Creators already in the programme aren't affected. Members also have to review and accept the updated terms in YouTube Studio by 31 January 2027 to keep fully monetising. The detail is in my breakdown of the 2027 Partner Program changes, but the headline for a lakh-subscriber channel is simple: if you qualify on today's numbers, don't sit on the application.

The five thresholds before your first payout

Getting approved isn't the same as getting paid. Between the review and the money there are five thresholds, set by the reporting currency in your AdSense for YouTube account. YouTube's table shows these values for dollar accounts as of November 2026:

ThresholdDollar amountWhat you do when you reach it
Tax info$0Submit your US tax info to Google
Verification$10Verify your identity and your address
Payment method selection$10Choose how you want to be paid
Payment$100You're paid, as long as there are no holds on your account
Cancelation$10If you close the account above this, you get a final payment

One honest catch. The threshold table on YouTube's page, as fetched in November 2026, has no row for the Indian rupee. So I won't give you a rupee threshold, and you should be wary of anyone who does. YouTube also says you can't change your payment currency once it's set.

From approval to money in your Indian bank

Here's the order things happen in for an Indian channel, using YouTube's own payment pages:

  1. Apply to the Partner Program once you meet the entry bar, and wait for the review (typically about a month).
  2. Link one active AdSense for YouTube account to the channel.
  3. Submit your US tax info. Every creator in the programme, anywhere in the world, has to do this.
  4. Verify your identity and address when your balance reaches the verification threshold.
  5. Pick your payment method when you hit the payment method selection threshold. For India, YouTube's table lists wire transfer as the only form of payment, and your bank or branch must be in the same country or region as the address in your payments settings.
  6. Watch the calendar. Finalised earnings for the previous month are added to your AdSense for YouTube balance between the 7th and 12th.
  7. Check your balance on the 20th. It has to reach the payment threshold by then to be paid that month. If it doesn't, it rolls over to the next month.
  8. Expect the payment between the 21st and 26th, provided there are no holds, your tax info is in, monetisation isn't suspended and you're following the policies.

If you'd like the monthly timing on its own, here's when YouTube pays out each month.

The tax form that changes what lands

Skip the tax step and it costs you. If you don't share tax info, Google may deduct up to 24% of your total earnings worldwide, not just the part from US viewers. Once your tax info is in, creators outside the US have between 0 and 30% withheld on earnings from US viewers only, depending on whether their country has a tax treaty with the US. India has one, and YouTube's tax page says to submit the form and claim any treaty benefit by Dec. 10th each year. Tax in India itself is a separate matter, and YouTube says to check with your local tax authorities.

What the Silver Creator Award is, and isn't

At 100,000 subscribers you can receive the Silver Creator Award. It's given at YouTube's discretion after a review: the channel has to be active with uploads in the last 6 months, have no active Community Guidelines violation and none in the last 365 days, not be rejected or suspended from the Partner Program, and have mainly original content. You don't have to be in the Partner Program to be eligible.

A notification arrives in Creator Studio within 10 days of hitting the milestone, and building and shipping the award takes 2 to 4 weeks. You're responsible for any customs duties or taxes on it. What it doesn't carry is money. It's recognition, not a payment, and it doesn't change your revenue share. Creators aiming far higher can see what ten million subscribers on YouTube means for income in India.

My advice for a 1 lakh channel

I'd line up the tax info and the AdSense for YouTube account before the review lands, so nothing holds up your first payment, and I'd skip chasing a monthly figure for 100,000 subscribers. It doesn't exist. Your own Analytics will tell you more in a week than any income chart will. If you're near the watch-hours or Shorts bar and not in the programme yet, apply before 1 February 2027, when the entry numbers double for new creators.

Frequently asked questions

How much does YouTube pay for 1 lakh subscribers per month?

YouTube doesn't publish one. Subscribers aren't part of the pay formula; earnings come from a share of ad revenue on monetised views and from features like memberships and Super Chat.

Can I earn from YouTube with 1 lakh subscribers but low watch hours?

Not until you're in the Partner Program. As of November 2026 you need 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 qualified public watch hours in 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days.

What is the minimum payout for YouTube in India?

YouTube's threshold table lists values by reporting currency and, as fetched in November 2026, has no rupee row. For dollar accounts the payment threshold is $100.

How do Indian creators get paid by YouTube?

YouTube's payment table lists wire transfer as the only form of payment for India, to a bank in the same country as the address in your payments settings.

Does the Silver Play Button pay money?

No. The Silver Creator Award at 100,000 subscribers is recognition only, given after a review at YouTube's discretion, and it carries no payment.
