An Instagram money calculator estimates post earnings by multiplying your follower count by an engagement based rate, typically 0.01 to 0.05 per follower. A creator with 20,000 followers and solid engagement might earn between 200 and 1,000 per sponsored post. Niche, engagement rate and audience location all shift that figure, sometimes sharply. Use it as a starting point for negotiations, not a fixed price.
Most Instagram creators can expect roughly $10 per 1,000 followers per sponsored post as a starting point, so an account with 10,000 followers is looking at around $100 a post before engagement and niche move that number up or down. Type your followers, average likes and comments below and the calculator gives you a realistic low to high range per post, plus a monthly figure for four sponsored posts. It runs entirely in your browser, nothing is stored, and there is no login.

The calculator
How the calculator works
You give it four things: your follower count, your average likes and comments per post, your niche and the currency you want the answer in. It turns likes and comments into an engagement rate, applies the follower rule of thumb, nudges the figure for niche and engagement, then shows a low to high band rather than one false-precision number. Brands do not pay a single fixed rate, so a band is the honest answer.
The maths, so nothing is hidden
- Engagement rate = (average likes + average comments) divided by followers, times 100. So 480 likes and 25 comments on 12,000 followers is 4.21%.
- Base rate = followers divided by 1,000, times $10. That is the widely quoted industry starting point for a sponsored feed post. 12,000 followers gives a $120 base.
- Niche multiplier: finance 1.25, tech 1.15, fashion and beauty 1.1, fitness, travel and parenting 1.05, general, food and other 1.0. These are modest on purpose. Niche matters, but not as much as engagement.
- Engagement multiplier = your engagement rate divided by 3%, capped between 0.5 and 2.5. Above 3% you earn more than the base, below it you earn less. At 4.21% the multiplier is 1.4.
- Range = the adjusted figure minus 30% for the low end and plus 30% for the high end. The 12,000 follower example lands at roughly $118 to $218 per post in the general niche.
- Per month assumes four sponsored posts, which is a common cadence for a small creator without annoying their audience.
Currency conversion uses fixed approximate rates (1 USD = 0.78 GBP, 0.92 EUR, 84 INR, 278 PKR). They are close enough for an estimate and are not updated live, so treat the converted figures as ballpark.
What the estimate does not know about you
Followers and engagement are the two inputs brands look at first, but they are not the whole picture. Where your audience lives changes what advertisers will pay for it. A creator with a mostly US or UK following can usually charge more than the calculator suggests, and a creator whose audience is spread thinly across many countries may need to price nearer the low end. Story-only or Reel-only deals, usage rights, exclusivity clauses and how many revisions the brand wants all move the price too. Use the number here as your opening position, not your final one.
How to move your number up
The quickest lever is engagement, not follower count. Doubling followers doubles the base, but lifting engagement from 2% to 4% doubles the multiplier with a far smaller audience, and it is what serious brands check before they reply. If you are working out how to do that with a small account, read how to make money on Instagram with just 1k followers, which covers the offers that work at that size. Reels are still the fastest reach lever on the platform, and how to get more views on Instagram Reels walks through the formats that pull new eyes in. If you only want the engagement number on its own, use the Instagram engagement rate calculator.
It also pays to know your real follower number rather than your vanity one. Accounts that follow you back at scale, or ghost accounts that never engage, drag your engagement rate down. The free Instagram unfollowers checker reads your official export in your browser so you can see who is inflating the denominator. If you want to see how your niche compares, the average Instagram engagement rate by industry gives you the benchmark, and at the other end of the scale, how much you can earn from a million Instagram followers shows what the same maths looks like once brands come to you.

Frequently asked questions
How many followers do you need to get paid on Instagram?
There is no minimum. Brands pay nano creators from around 1,000 followers when the engagement is high and the audience matches what they sell. Under 1,000 you are more likely to be offered free product than cash, and that is still a start.
Does engagement matter more than followers?
For pricing, yes. Followers set the base rate, but engagement is the multiplier and it is what brands check first. A 5,000 follower account at 8% engagement will often out-earn a 20,000 follower account at 1%.
How do brands pay Instagram creators?
Most pay a flat fee per post or per package (a feed post plus Stories, for example), agreed up front and paid by bank transfer or PayPal, sometimes half before and half after. Some offer product only, some pay commission through affiliate links, and larger brands work through influencer platforms that handle contracts and payment.
Is this calculator accurate?
It is an estimate built from public rules of thumb, so it is a sensible starting point rather than a quote. Your real rate depends on the brand, the deliverables and how well you negotiate.
Why does the calculator show a range instead of one number?
Because no two brands pay the same. The low end reflects a small brand or a simple single post, the high end a bigger brand, more deliverables or usage rights. Quote from the middle and be ready to move.
