As of October 2026, Google One costs $1.99 a month for Basic with 100GB, $9.99 a month for Google AI Plus with 2TB and $19.99 a month for Google AI Pro with 5TB in the US. Every Google account still gets 15GB free.
Google One's two higher plans now bundle storage with Google's AI features, which is why the plan names mention AI. If you're only after more space for Gmail and Google Photos, you can still buy storage on its own. Here's what Google's own plans page lists, as of October 2026.
Google One plans and prices
| Plan | Price a month | Storage | AI features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 15GB | None |
| Basic | $1.99 | 100GB | None |
| Google AI Plus | $9.99 | 2TB | Gemini with double the usage limits, Gemini in Gmail and more |
| Google AI Pro | $19.99 | 5TB | Higher Gemini limits, Deep Research, Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Vids, and more |
The storage on every plan is shared across Google Photos, Drive and Gmail, and Google says the 15GB every account gets is counted inside the total, not added on top. Google's page also offers annual billing, which it says costs less than paying monthly, so check the annual option if you'll keep a plan for the year.
Share storage with your household
Every paid plan lets you share storage with up to 5 others. That makes Google One one of the cheapest ways to give a whole family more Google Photos space: one person pays, and everyone in the family group gets a share of the pool.
What Google AI Plus adds
Google AI Plus is the middle plan, and it's built for people who use Gemini regularly. Google lists:
- 2TB of storage for Google Photos, Drive and Gmail.
- Gemini app access with double the usage limits you'd get without a Google AI plan, plus access to Google's Flash models.
- Google Flow with expanded access to Google's creative models.
- Gemini in Gmail.
- Gemini Notebook with more access.
What Google AI Pro adds
Google AI Pro is the top plan on the page, and it bundles more than AI. Google lists:
- 5TB of storage for Google Photos, Drive and Gmail.
- Gemini app access four times higher than without a Google AI plan, plus Google's Gemini 4 Argon model and Deep Research.
- Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Vids and more.
- Gemini Notebook with expanded access.
- YouTube Premium Lite for one person.
- Google Home Premium Standard.
That YouTube Premium Lite and Google Home Premium detail is easy to miss. If you already pay for either of those separately, AI Pro may replace two subscriptions, not just your storage. My guide to what YouTube Premium Lite includes explains what you'd get there.
Google One or iCloud+?
If your household mixes iPhones and Android phones, you'll probably compare Google One with Apple's iCloud+. Apple's support page lists iCloud+ at $0.99 a month for 50GB, $2.99 for 200GB and $9.99 for 2TB in the US. Google's Basic plan at $1.99 for 100GB sits between Apple's two smaller plans, and both companies charge $9.99 a month for 2TB, though Google's 2TB plan also includes Gemini features. Pick the one where your photos already back up, because moving a big library is the real cost.
Who each Google One plan suits
- Free 15GB: light users who mostly use Gmail and keep a small photo library.
- Basic 100GB: families who need more Google Photos space and nothing else.
- Google AI Plus 2TB: people who write, plan or research with Gemini most weeks and have a large photo library.
- Google AI Pro 5TB: heavy Gemini users, anyone who wants Deep Research, and households that would otherwise pay for YouTube Premium Lite.
Fine print on Google's page
Google's plans page notes that age limits (18+), language availability, system requirements, feature limits per session and other restrictions may apply to the AI features. You can cancel at any time.
How to choose a Google One plan
- Check your storage use in Google One or Google Drive settings, and see whether Photos, Gmail or Drive is filling it.
- If you only need space and you're under 100GB, Basic at $1.99 is enough.
- If you use Gemini most days, or need between 100GB and 2TB, compare Google AI Plus.
- If you already pay for YouTube Premium Lite or want Deep Research, look at Google AI Pro.
- Set up family sharing so the whole household uses one plan.

My verdict
If all you need is more room for photos and email, Basic at $1.99 a month is the cheapest way to add 100GB, and you can share it with 5 others. Pay for Google AI Plus only if you use Gemini every week. Google AI Pro at $19.99 makes sense if you'll use Deep Research or you'd otherwise pay for YouTube Premium Lite, because the bundle covers both.
