As of October 2026, iCloud+ storage costs $0.99 a month for 50GB, $2.99 for 200GB, $9.99 for 2TB, $29.99 for 6TB and $59.99 for 12TB in the US. Apple says iCloud+ is billed monthly after you upgrade.
When your iPhone tells you iCloud is full, the upgrade screen shows a price but not how it compares with other countries or larger plans. Apple's own support page lists every iCloud+ plan in every country, so here are the figures for the US, UK, Australia and Canada, plus what you get on top of the storage.
iCloud+ prices by country
Monthly prices from Apple's iCloud+ plans and pricing page, as of October 2026, in each country's currency.
| Storage | US | UK | Australia | Canada |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50GB | $0.99 | £0.99 | A$1.49 | CA$1.29 |
| 200GB | $2.99 | £2.99 | A$4.49 | CA$3.99 |
| 2TB | $9.99 | £8.99 | A$14.99 | CA$12.99 |
| 6TB | $29.99 | £26.99 | A$44.99 | CA$39.99 |
| 12TB | $59.99 | £54.99 | A$89.99 | CA$79.99 |
Apple says taxes are included in the UK and Australian prices. In the US, residents of some states have tax added to the monthly payment because of state laws, so your bill may be slightly higher than the figure above.
What iCloud+ includes besides storage
Every iCloud+ plan comes with privacy and home features, not just space. Apple lists these on all plans:
- iCloud Private Relay.
- Hide My Email.
- Custom Email Domain.
- Apple Invites.
- Sharing with up to five other family members.
HomeKit Secure Video support grows with the plan: one camera on 50GB, up to five cameras on 200GB and an unlimited number of cameras on 2TB and above. If you record home security cameras to iCloud, that's often the real reason to move up a tier.
Share one plan with your family
Apple says every iCloud+ plan can be shared with up to five other family members. That changes the maths for families: instead of each person paying for their own storage, one person can pay for a bigger plan and the rest of the family uses it. Apple also notes that not all iCloud+ features are available in every country or region, so check yours before you rely on Private Relay.
How to pick the right amount of storage
- Check how much iCloud storage you're using in your device settings, and what's taking up the space.
- If you're using less than 50GB and don't share, the 50GB plan is enough.
- If you back up several devices or keep years of photos, 200GB is the usual sweet spot.
- If you share with family or shoot a lot of video, go for 2TB.
- Only consider 6TB or 12TB if you store large video libraries or work files in iCloud Drive.
Before you pay for more, it's worth clearing out what you don't need. My guide on how to free up iCloud storage shows where the space usually goes.
Payment details from Apple's page
A few practical points from Apple's support page:
- You can upgrade to iCloud+ from your iPhone, iPad, Mac or PC, and you're billed monthly after you upgrade.
- Apple accepts credit cards, debit cards and your Apple Account balance.
- If your Apple Account balance doesn't cover the upgrade, Apple charges the rest to your card.
- Apple Store gift cards aren't accepted as payment for iCloud+.
That last one trips people up: a gift card from an Apple Store won't pay for iCloud storage, even though it looks like Apple credit. Apple Account balance is a different thing, and that does work.
When to move up a tier
Most people upgrade because a backup fails, but there are better triggers to watch for:
- Your iPhone backup and photo library together are close to your plan's limit.
- You've added a second home security camera and want it recorded to iCloud, which needs the 200GB plan or above.
- A family member keeps running out of space, and sharing your plan would solve it.
- You've started storing work files or video projects in iCloud Drive.
iCloud or Google One?
If you use an Android phone as well as Apple devices, Google One is the obvious comparison. Google's own plans page lists Basic with 100GB at $1.99 a month and 2TB on Google AI Plus at $9.99 a month in the US, which matches iCloud's $9.99 for 2TB. The deciding factor is usually where your photos already live, not the price. My iCloud vs Google Drive comparison goes further.
Apple One may be cheaper
If you also pay for Apple Music, Apple TV or Apple Arcade, check Apple One. Its bundles include iCloud+ storage alongside other Apple subscriptions, so you might pay less overall than buying iCloud+ separately.

Storage can also come bundled with other services, as explained in the Apple One plans.
My verdict
For most people, the 200GB plan at $2.99 or £2.99 a month is the right iCloud storage price: enough for a phone backup and a big photo library, with all the iCloud+ privacy features. Families should share one 2TB plan rather than paying for several. Clear out old backups first, though, because a lot of people pay for storage they could free up in ten minutes.
If you live in the Google world, the equivalent is covered in Google One storage plans.
