Google AI Pro: What You Get, What It Costs and Who It Suits

Google AI Pro is Google's middle AI plan. On Google's US page it costs $19.99 a month as of October 2026 and gives you Gemini 4 Argon, four times the Gemini usage of the free version, a 1 million token context window, Gemini in Gmail and Docs, 1,000 Google Flow credits and 5 TB of storage, plus extras like YouTube Premium Lite.

Pro is the plan most people mean when they search for Gemini's paid version. The headline features are on Google's subscription page, but the useful detail sits in a long Google One help article that lists every benefit, including some for developers and some that only work in the US. I've pulled both together here, checked on Google's own pages as of October 2026.

The context window is the row I'd look at first. Google's limits page says 1 million tokens lets Gemini read up to 1,500 pages of text or 30,000 lines of code at once. Free Gemini stops at 32k tokens, which is why long reports and contracts trip it up.

Everything Google lists as a Pro benefit

  • Gemini app with Gemini 4 Argon, the Pro and Flash models, video generation and Daily Brief.
  • Gemini 4 Argon in AI Mode in Google Search, with more access to Nano Banana and agentic features.
  • Deep Research with more access than the free version.
  • Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Vids and other Google apps.
  • Gemini Notebook (the tool that used to be called NotebookLM) with higher limits, including up to 300 sources per notebook.
  • Auto browse in Gemini in Chrome, where Gemini completes tasks in the browser for you.
  • Google Flow with 1,000 credits for making scenes and short films.
  • Google Home Premium on the Standard plan, with 30 days of event history.
  • YouTube Premium Lite: most videos ad free, offline and in the background.
  • Higher limits for Photo to video and Remix in Google Photos, in select countries.
  • 5 TB or 10 TB of storage, depending on your specific Pro membership.

The developer extras hiding in the help page

This is the part most reviews skip, and it's worth a lot if you or someone on your team writes code. Google's Pro benefits article lists four developer perks that come with the plan:

  1. Jules, Google's asynchronous coding agent, with higher task and concurrency limits. You need to be 18 or older.
  2. Google Antigravity, Google's agentic development platform, with higher limits and prioritised traffic. It runs as a desktop app on Windows, macOS and Linux.
  3. Google Colab with 200 compute units, on the web only. Google says this isn't available on trial memberships.
  4. Google Developer Program premium: higher Gemini Code Assist quotas, $10 of Google Cloud credits each month and 30 Firebase Studio workspaces. This one can't be shared with your family group.

US-only Pro features

Several Pro features only work in the US, so don't buy the plan for them if you're elsewhere. Google lists AI-powered calling, where Google phones local businesses to check pricing and availability for you, Gemini in Google Earth with higher limits, Google TV Create Hub and Tasks in Gemini, where you hand Gemini a goal and a deadline and it works through it. Dreambeans, a Google Labs experiment that turns your Calendar, Photos and YouTube into personalised daily stories, is also US only.

How Pro's usage limits work

Pro isn't unlimited. Google says Gemini's limits are compute-based: they depend on how complex your prompt is, which model and feature you use and how long the chat has got. Your allowance refreshes every five hours until you reach a weekly limit. Video generation and Deep Research use the most. If you hit the limit as a subscriber, you can carry on the conversation with Flash-Lite.

For Google Flow and Google Antigravity you can buy AI credits on top. Google's purchase page says credits come in amounts such as 2,500, 5,000 or 20,000, they're only sold to Pro and Ultra members, and they aren't on sale in Japan. If you subscribed through Apple billing, Pixel Pass or another third party, you can't buy them at all.

Who can get Google AI Pro

  • Google says Pro is for users over 18 with a personal Google Account they manage themselves.
  • It's available in more than 150 countries and territories.
  • The figures above are Google's US prices. Check your own country's plan page for local pricing.
  • You can manage the plan in the Gemini mobile app from your profile picture and Settings.

Is Google AI Pro worth it?

For a small business that already lives in Gmail and Google Docs, I think Pro is the one Google plan that earns its place. The 1 million token context window means you can drop in a full proposal, a year of reports or a long contract and ask useful questions. Gemini in Docs and Gmail saves time every day, and 5 TB of storage replaces a separate storage bill for most people. If you only want a bit more chat, look at Google AI Plus first. If you keep hitting Pro's weekly limit, Google AI Ultra is the next step.

My verdict

Pro is good value if you'll use two or more of its parts: the bigger Gemini allowance, Gemini in your Google apps, the storage or the developer tools. If you only want one of them, there's usually a cheaper way to get it.
