Can You Monetize TikTok in Bangladesh?

The short version: TikTok's own Creator Rewards Program is not currently available to creators in Bangladesh, so the direct "post videos, get paid per view" route that works in the US or UK is off the table for now. What does work is Live Gifts, the TikTok Shop affiliate programme (where it exists), and using TikTok as a traffic engine for brand deals and off-platform income. If you're building a creator income in Bangladesh, you need to stop waiting on TikTok and start building around it.

What TikTok pays for, and where

TikTok has never had one single monetization scheme. It's a patchwork, and the patchwork is drawn along country lines in a way that frustrates creators who assume "TikTok is global" means "TikTok pays everyone the same."

  • Creator Rewards Program (the replacement for the old Creator Fund): pays based on video performance, but eligibility is restricted to a list of countries that currently includes the US, UK, France, Germany, and a handful of others. Bangladesh is not on that list.
  • LIVE Gifts: available far more widely, including in Bangladesh, because it runs on virtual currency (Coins and Diamonds) rather than a regional ad-revenue pool. If you can go live and get people to send gifts, you can cash out, subject to TikTok's minimum thresholds and its cut (TikTok typically takes around 50 percent of gift value before you ever touch it).
  • TikTok Shop affiliate commissions: where TikTok Shop has rolled out, creators earn a commission on sales they drive through in-video and live links. Bangladesh's TikTok Shop access has been inconsistent and far behind markets like Indonesia or the UK, so check current availability in-app rather than assuming it's live.
  • Brand deals and off-platform funnels: this is the one nobody needs permission for. A Bangladeshi creator can build an audience on TikTok and get paid directly by brands, or route followers to YouTube, a paid newsletter, or a Shopify store.

A worked example: what the maths looks like

Say you run a cooking account in Dhaka with 80,000 followers and good engagement, videos averaging 40,000 to 60,000 views. If Creator Rewards were available, that kind of volume might generate somewhere between $15 and $40 a month in the US tier, which is already modest. Since that programme isn't open to you, your realistic income streams look like this instead:

  • Going live twice a week for an hour, pulling in roughly 2,000 to 5,000 Coins worth of gifts per session from a loyal audience. After TikTok's cut, that might net you somewhere in the range of 3,000 to 8,000 BDT a month, inconsistent and dependent on a handful of generous viewers.
  • One sponsored post a month for a local kitchenware brand or food delivery app, priced somewhere between 15,000 and 60,000 BDT depending on your niche and negotiating skill, paid directly by the brand, nothing to do with TikTok's own systems.
  • Driving that same audience to a YouTube channel where longer cooking tutorials sit behind AdSense, which does pay out in Bangladesh once you clear 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours.

Add it up and the brand deal almost certainly dwarfs the platform-native earnings. That's the uncomfortable bit people skip: for most creators in restricted markets, TikTok's own monetization tools are a rounding error next to one decent sponsorship.

Step by step: building a Bangladesh-based TikTok income

  1. Check your current eligibility in-app. Go to Settings, Creator Tools, and look for Creator Rewards Program or LIVE. Availability shifts, and TikTok doesn't always announce changes publicly, so check rather than trust a blog post from 2023.
  2. Build toward LIVE eligibility. You typically need at least 1,000 followers and to be 18 or older to go live. Consistency (two or three sessions a week, same time slot) builds the habit that turns casual viewers into gift-senders.
  3. Pitch local and regional brands directly. Skip waiting for brands to find you. Build a one-page media kit with follower count, average views, audience age and gender split (available in TikTok analytics), and email or DM five brands a week in your niche.
  4. Diversify to a platform that pays natively in your region. YouTube's Partner Program is available in Bangladesh and pays through AdSense directly to a local bank account. Facebook's in-stream ads and Reels bonuses are also worth checking, since Facebook's monetization requirements and eligible countries list is updated more often than people realise.
  5. Set up one payout account before you need it. Nothing kills momentum like landing your first payable milestone and then spending three weeks sorting out a bank transfer or a PayPal alternative. If you're also building on Instagram, get your payout account set up in advance rather than scrambling.

Why TikTok draws the country lines it does

TikTok's restricted list isn't random cruelty. Ad revenue monetization programmes are funded by advertiser spend in that market, and advertiser spend in Bangladesh on TikTok is still thin compared to the US or UK. Fewer ad dollars flowing in means less to redistribute to creators, so TikTok simply doesn't open the tap. This is the same pattern you see with YouTube's rollout in Nepal and the UAE and with Facebook's monetization eligibility in Nepal: platforms monetize where the money already is, not where the audience is. It's worth knowing this isn't a Bangladesh-specific snub. It's a pattern that hits most of South Asia, large parts of Africa, and swathes of the Middle East outside the Gulf states.

The part most guides gloss over

A lot of "how to monetize TikTok in Bangladesh" content online just lists the general global eligibility rules and leaves you to assume you qualify, or worse, tells you to "just apply" to a programme that was never opened to your country in the first place. That's not useful, it's filler. The blunt truth is that if your country isn't on TikTok's published list, no amount of posting consistency, hashtag strategy, or "going viral" changes that. Virality gets you followers and reach. It does not retroactively open up a payment programme that was never switched on for your region. Put your energy into the things that are available to you: LIVE gifts, affiliate links where TikTok Shop exists, and brand partnerships, rather than optimising for a Creator Fund payout that may never arrive.

Where this fits in a wider income strategy

If you're serious about creator income from Bangladesh, treat TikTok as the top of your funnel, not the cash register. Use it to build an audience, then convert that audience somewhere that pays reliably: YouTube AdSense, direct brand deals, your own digital product, or a service you sell to your following. This is exactly the mistake I see small businesses and solo creators make when they bring in outside help too: they want someone to "fix TikTok" when the real work is building a system that doesn't depend on one platform's mood. If you're weighing up whether to bring in outside help to build that kind of multi-platform strategy, it's worth understanding what an AI consultant costs before you commit to anything, because tools and automation can speed up the content and outreach side considerably, but they can't manufacture a monetization programme TikTok hasn't switched on.

Frequently asked questions

Is TikTok's Creator Rewards Program available in Bangladesh?

No, not currently. The programme is limited to a published list of countries that does not include Bangladesh, so creators there cannot earn ad-revenue-share payouts directly from TikTok videos through this route.

Can Bangladeshi creators earn money from TikTok LIVE?

Yes. LIVE Gifts are available more broadly than Creator Rewards, and Bangladeshi creators who meet the minimum age and follower requirements can go live and receive gifts that convert to Diamonds and eventually cash out, minus TikTok's cut.

Is TikTok Shop available in Bangladesh for affiliate commissions?

Availability has been inconsistent and the feature has rolled out far more slowly than in markets like Indonesia, the US or the UK, so check your TikTok Shop Seller or Affiliate settings directly in-app rather than assuming access.

What's the fastest realistic way to earn from TikTok in Bangladesh right now?

Build an engaged audience, then pursue direct brand sponsorships and push viewers to a platform that pays natively in Bangladesh, such as YouTube's Partner Program, rather than waiting for TikTok's own ad-revenue programme to open up.
