Facebook Monetization Requirements and Eligible Countries (2026)

Facebook monetization requirements depend on the programme. Stars needs 500 followers for 30 days in a row, Subscriptions needs 5,000 followers and an age of 18 or over, and content monetisation has no public follower target because it's invitation-only. Every programme also needs you to live in an eligible country and follow Meta's Partner Monetisation Policies.

There's no single Facebook monetisation switch any more. Meta runs separate tools, each with its own bar and its own country list. Below, I've put each one in its own row with what Meta's help pages say today, then the full country lists for the two tools that publish one.

The change most guides haven't caught up with: in-stream ads, Ads on Reels and the Performance bonus all ended on 31 August 2025. If a video tells you to hit a minutes-viewed target to get into in-stream ads, it's describing a programme you can no longer join. Meta now invites eligible creators to Facebook content monetisation instead.

Fast Track is aimed at creators who are big elsewhere and new to Facebook. Meta's newsroom post from March 2026 says it gives three months of guaranteed pay for sharing eligible reels, with a higher tier for creators with more than one million followers on one of those platforms.

The rules that apply to all of them

Meta's Partner Monetisation Policies sit on top of every programme. To earn anything, you must:

  • Post on an eligible surface: a Page, a profile in professional mode, an event or a group. A normal personal profile can't earn.
  • Live in an eligible country, with your connected bank or payout details also in an eligible country.
  • Follow the Community Standards and the stricter Content Monetisation Policies, which also cover your profile picture and description.
  • Share authentic content. Misinformation, clickbait and sensational posts can cost you eligibility.
  • Share original content. You can only earn from work you made, helped make or appear in. Reposts without meaningful changes like commentary or creative editing don't count.

That last rule is where most Pages trip up. If your Page runs on clips from other accounts, you won't pass, however many followers you have. I explain the Page side in more detail in can a Facebook Page be monetized.

Countries where Stars is available

According to Meta's Stars help page, creators can earn from Stars in these countries: Algeria, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Laos, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, UK, US, Vietnam.

Meta also lists places where people can't send Stars: Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia and Syria.

Countries where Subscriptions is available

Meta's Subscriptions page lists these countries and regions: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Vietnam.

Notice the gaps. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt and Nepal are on the Stars list but not the Subscriptions list. If you're in one of those, Stars is your first realistic tool.

How to check where you stand

  1. Open your Page or professional mode profile in the Facebook app.
  2. Go to your dashboard. Meta has renamed it, so you may see Creator Dashboard or Business Dashboard.
  3. Tap Monetise, then look at the list of monetisation programmes.
  4. Anything you qualify for shows there. For the rest, the dashboard shows which requirements you haven't met yet.
  5. On a computer, use Meta Business Suite, then Monetisation, Overview and View page eligibility.

If a menu name looks different in your version, search your Facebook settings for the word Monetise.

If you've never been invited

Content monetisation has an interest form in the monetisation section of your dashboard. Meta says clearly that it isn't an application and doesn't guarantee an invitation. Fill it in once, then focus on what Meta says it rewards: qualified views and watch time on your own public reels, photos, stories and text posts. If you're stuck waiting, my guide on why you haven't been invited to a Facebook bonus programme covers the usual reasons, and how many followers you need to get paid for reels looks at the reels side.

A plain scam warning: Meta says real invitations only arrive through official channels such as the Facebook app, email, Meta Business Suite and your dashboard, and it warns against suspicious links in Messenger. Apps that promise to pay you for watching videos or doing small tasks aren't Meta. If anyone asks for a fee to get you monetised, walk away.

My verdict

Stop chasing old in-stream ads targets. Pick the programme your country and follower count fit today: Stars at 500 followers, Subscriptions at 5,000 if your country is listed, and keep posting original reels to earn an invitation to content monetisation. Check your dashboard monthly, because Meta updates these lists without much notice.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Facebook monetization requirements in 2026?

It depends on the tool. Stars needs 500 followers for 30 consecutive days, Subscriptions needs 5,000 followers and age 18 or over, and content monetisation is invitation-only. All need an eligible country and policy compliance.

Can I still apply for Facebook in-stream ads?

No. Meta ended in-stream ads, Ads on Reels and the Performance bonus on 31 August 2025. Eligible creators are invited to content monetisation instead.

Can a personal Facebook profile earn money?

Not as a normal profile. Meta's policies say monetisation works on Pages and on profiles in professional mode, plus events and groups.

Why is my country on the Stars list but not Subscriptions?

Meta rolls each tool out separately, so the lists differ. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt and Nepal, for example, are listed for Stars but not for Subscriptions.

How do I apply for Facebook content monetisation?

You can't apply directly. It's invitation-only, but you can fill in the interest form in your dashboard's monetisation section. Meta says it doesn't guarantee an invitation.
