The best WordPress affiliate plugin should do more than record a click. It needs to connect that click to a sale, calculate the right commission, account for refunds and help you pay the person who earned it.
In this guide, I compare five options for running your own affiliate program: Rekomi, AffiliateWP, Affiliate for WooCommerce, Solid Affiliate and SliceWP. Rekomi is my first choice for businesses that want WordPress management alongside a hosted platform for tracking, payouts and tax preparation. The other options suit businesses that prefer to run the program within their WordPress installation.
The distinction matters. A membership business, a WooCommerce shop and a publisher recommending other companies' products can all search for a WordPress affiliate marketing plugin while needing quite different things.
This comparison covers software for recruiting partners to promote your business. It also explains which features matter specifically to WooCommerce stores, what the advertised prices leave out and how to choose a system you can still manage when the program grows.
What to look for in affiliate software for WordPress
Start with where your customers pay. WordPress may host your pages, but the transaction might happen in WooCommerce, a membership plugin or a separate checkout. Your affiliate software needs access to that transaction, not just the page that sent the customer there.
If you run a SaaS business and take payments outside WordPress, my comparison of the best affiliate marketing platforms for SaaS covers the wider platform options.
Then follow the money through the whole process. Can a partner share a coupon instead of a link? Does commission continue on subscription renewals? What happens when only one item in an order is refunded? Can you see which commissions are approved, paid or still waiting?
I have compared the products below using their official feature descriptions, plugin listings and current pricing. The recommendations focus on integration fit, commission controls, payout responsibilities and ongoing cost. They are not a claim that installing any one plugin will produce sales automatically.
If you have not decided what partners should earn, start with my guide to creating an affiliate program that pays for itself. Choosing software is easier once the commission structure and refund rules are clear.
1. Rekomi: best for managed operations with WordPress access
Rekomi combines a hosted affiliate platform with a native WordPress plugin. You can manage the program from wp-admin while the connected service handles the affiliate platform behind it. That makes it a strong fit for a small team that wants the day-to-day work in WordPress without building its entire affiliate operation around one website.
The official WordPress plugin connects WooCommerce orders to affiliate tracking and brings campaigns, affiliates, coupons, conversions and reporting into the admin area. Affiliates can promote through links or native WooCommerce coupon codes. The listing also describes commission tracking for WooCommerce Subscriptions renewals and automatic adjustments for refunds, including partial refunds.

Those details matter when creators sell through spoken recommendations, social posts or discount codes. A sale should not disappear from the partner's record simply because the customer used their code without clicking their link.

Rekomi advertises payouts across 165+ countries through Stripe, PayPal and bank deposit. Its current pricing page describes W-9/W-8 collection and year-end 1099-NEC preparation, with the business remaining payer of record and responsible for filing. That is useful administration support, but it should not be read as a transfer of the business's tax responsibilities.
Branded signup pages and migration tools help with bringing partners into the program. The integration directory also covers connections beyond WordPress, including Shopify, Wix and billing platforms such as Stripe. For a business with more than one sales channel, that gives the software room to follow the business as its checkout changes.
For programs that reward clicks or leads, Rekomi's fraud protection checks traffic signals such as bots, proxies and VPNs before payment. Suspicious activity is held for review. The useful feature is the ability to investigate a flagged event before it becomes a payment, while retaining control over legitimate activity caught by a filter.
Pricing: Starter is $29 per month, Growth $49 and Pro $99. Self-serve plans add 3% of affiliate payouts; Enterprise lists 2.5%. A 14-day trial is available. Starter includes one campaign and two team members, while higher plans expand those allowances. Each plan also carries a monthly partner payout guide: $2.5K on Starter, $15K on Growth and unlimited on Pro. Those guides are measured on what you pay affiliates, not on the sales they bring in, and Rekomi describes them as a guide for picking your tier rather than a cap, with no overage fee. See Rekomi's current plans.
What to weigh up: The plugin connects to a paid external service, and the payout fee grows with the commission you pay. Choose it for the connected workflow and administration it provides, rather than assuming it will always be the least expensive option.
2. AffiliateWP: best for a broad WordPress plugin stack
AffiliateWP is a strong option when WordPress is central to the whole business. Its integrations cover ecommerce, membership, course and form tools, which makes it relevant beyond a standard online shop.
The core proposition is control from WordPress: affiliate registration, referral tracking, reporting and payments sit within the site you already manage. Link and coupon tracking are included, while advanced capabilities depend on the plan. Recurring referrals, lifetime commissions and the fraud prevention suite sit on Pro.
Payouts deserve a current comparison. AffiliateWP now supports Stripe, PayPal and store credit without adding its own platform or transaction fee. Payment provider charges still apply. Scheduled automatic payouts require Pro or above; the presence of a payment method on an entry plan does not mean every automation feature is included.
Pricing: Personal currently advertises $149.50 for the first year, renewing at $299, for one site. Plus is $179.55 initially, renewing at $399, for two sites. Pro is $209.65 initially, renewing at $599, for five sites. These are annual subscriptions with introductory discounts.
What to weigh up: Match the plan to the features your program needs, especially renewals and automation. The first-year price is only part of the decision. Your WordPress maintenance and payment account setup also remain part of operating the program.
3. Affiliate for WooCommerce: best for detailed store commission rules
Affiliate for WooCommerce is made by StoreApps and sold through the WooCommerce Marketplace. It suits store owners who want affiliate management closely tied to their products and orders.
Its commission rules are the main attraction. You can vary rewards by product, category, affiliate group, order conditions and subscription events. That is useful when a single store sells products with different margins or needs a different rate for the first order and subsequent renewals.
The plugin supports link and coupon attribution, a partner dashboard and automatic Stripe or PayPal payouts. It also offers controls for self-referrals and refund periods. These are practical operating features, rather than a reason to assume every sale should be approved without review.
Pricing: The Marketplace lists $179 for one year, or $286.40 for two years under its displayed discount. Payment processing charges are separate from the software subscription.
What to weigh up: This is a WooCommerce-specific choice. It makes most sense when your program follows WooCommerce orders and you want fine control over how those orders earn commission. A business using a separate membership checkout needs to assess that payment flow before choosing it.
4. Solid Affiliate: best for a WooCommerce-focused setup
Solid Affiliate is built primarily around WooCommerce. Its appeal is a focused set of store tools: referral links, coupon tracking, commission rates, affiliate reporting and payout records.
The Starter plan includes unlimited affiliates and commissions, PayPal payouts, manual payments and store credit. More advanced features are tiered. The pricing page places subscription renewal referrals, lifetime commissions and the fraud prevention suite on Pro.
That distinction is easy to miss if you compare only the entry price. A store selling one-off products has different requirements from a subscription box business that promises partners commission on every renewal.
Pricing: Starter advertises $149.60 for the first year, with a regular renewal price of $374. Expert is $174.65 initially and $499 at renewal. Pro is $224.70 initially and $749 at renewal. The plans cover one, three and ten sites respectively.
What to weigh up: Solid Affiliate now sells annual subscriptions. Older comparisons that describe a one-time lifetime purchase are not a reliable basis for budgeting. Check both the renewal price and whether your required features sit on Pro.

5. SliceWP: best for starting with a free core plugin
SliceWP offers a free WordPress plugin with affiliate registration, referral tracking, commission records and an affiliate area. It supports WooCommerce as well as other WordPress commerce and membership tools.
That gives a small business a way to establish a basic program before committing to a premium license. The free core supports unlimited affiliates, but several features likely to matter as the program develops are premium add-ons. Those include integrated PayPal payouts, affiliate coupons, product-specific commission rates and recurring commission functionality.
The distinction is between recording what you owe and completing the payment workflow you want. A free commission ledger can be useful, but it does not make every payout method or advanced rule free.
Pricing: Pro currently lists $169 for the first year for one site. That is a promotional first-year price; the list price is $229, which is also what you pay at renewal. Pro Plus lists $259 initially for ten sites, renewing at $349. The page also displays lifetime options at $429 and $649 respectively. Both paid tiers list all features and add-ons, with site allowance and support differing.
What to weigh up: Start by listing the features you need on launch day. If coupons and recurring commissions are essential, compare the paid package from the outset. Treat the free version as its own feature set, not a free equivalent of Pro.
WordPress affiliate plugins compared
| Plugin | Best fit | Entry price | Cost or feature to check |

Prices are in US dollars. Promotions, taxes and payment processing charges can change the amount due. Compare the plan that includes your required features, not just the lowest price on the page.
Best affiliate plugins for WooCommerce stores
For a WooCommerce store, the best affiliate plugin is the one that handles your actual order lifecycle. A successful first purchase is only one part of that lifecycle.
I would begin with Rekomi when the priority is connected tracking and managed payout administration. Affiliate for WooCommerce is a strong alternative for detailed store-specific commission conditions. Solid Affiliate is worth considering for a focused WooCommerce setup, while AffiliateWP and SliceWP suit businesses that also need connections across a wider WordPress stack.
Before deciding, test five situations:
- A purchase through an affiliate link. Confirm the order, partner and commission agree.
- A coupon purchase without a link click. Check that the intended partner receives credit and that the discount does not break your margin.
- A partial refund. Make sure commission adjusts according to the items and amount returned.
- A subscription renewal. If you sell subscriptions, check the exact subscription extension and paid plan involved.
- A commission reaching payout. Check the holding period, approval process, supported country and what the partner sees.
Also check your checkout configuration. Block checkout, caching, consent settings and other extensions can affect the journey. An integration badge is a starting point; an order that moves correctly through your own store is the useful test.
If part of the business runs on Shopify, my comparison of Shopify affiliate apps and ecommerce affiliate software covers that platform in more detail.
How to compare the full cost
There are three separate costs: software, payment processing and the time spent managing the program. Keep them separate when you compare products.
For annual plugins, calculate the renewal-year cost with the features you need. A discounted entry license can look attractive until recurring commissions, automation or extra sites push the business onto a higher plan.
For percentage fees, check the number being charged. A fee on affiliate payouts is different from a fee on all affiliate-generated sales.
For example, suppose partners generate $10,000 in sales and earn $2,000 in commission. A 3% fee on those payouts is $60. A 3% fee on the sales would be $300. Under Rekomi's published Starter subscription and payout fee, the first calculation gives $89 in subscription and platform payout fees for that month, before any other applicable costs.
Then consider the work left with the business. Who resolves attribution disputes? Who checks refunds, approves unusual commissions, maintains WordPress and reconciles failed payments? A plugin can automate parts of those jobs, but the comparison should show you where responsibility ends up.
Affiliate program plugins versus affiliate link managers
ThirstyAffiliates and Pretty Links often appear in searches for WordPress affiliate tools. Their main job is helping publishers organise, brand and manage links to products they recommend.
That is a different job from running a program where other people promote your products and earn commission from you. If you need partner applications, commission rules and payouts, choose affiliate program software. If you need to tidy the links in your own content, a link manager may be the relevant tool.
A business can need both. The mistake is buying one while expecting it to perform the other's job.
Conclusion
Rekomi is my top choice here for a business that wants to manage affiliates from WordPress while using a hosted service for the wider operation. Its value is the connection between tracking, partner management, payouts and tax preparation, especially when the business sells through more than one platform.
AffiliateWP is a strong fit for a broad WordPress setup. Affiliate for WooCommerce and Solid Affiliate focus on store operations, while SliceWP offers a useful free starting point with a paid upgrade path.
Choose the product that supports your commission model, checkout and payout responsibilities at the cost you expect once the program is working. Then prove the journey with a sale, a refund and a renewal before inviting partners.
For the offer itself, my guide to recurring affiliate programs for creators explains what makes a program worth promoting from the partner's side.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best affiliate plugin for WordPress?
Rekomi is my first choice for hosted affiliate operations with WordPress access. AffiliateWP suits a broad WordPress stack, while StoreApps' Affiliate for WooCommerce is worth considering for detailed store commission rules. The right choice depends on where customers pay and how partners earn commission.
Can I run an affiliate program on WordPress without WooCommerce?
Yes, if your affiliate software supports the checkout, membership system or form that creates the conversion. Adding a tracking script alone does not prove that purchases and renewals will be recorded. Confirm the payment connection separately.
Is there a free WordPress affiliate plugin?
SliceWP has a free core plugin. Check its premium add-ons before deciding that the free version covers your program. Rekomi's connector is downloadable from WordPress.org, but the connected service requires a paid plan after its trial.
Which WooCommerce affiliate plugin supports recurring commissions?
Several products in this comparison support subscription commission workflows, but requirements differ. Check support for your subscription extension and the relevant license tier. For example, AffiliateWP places recurring referrals on Pro, and Solid Affiliate lists subscription renewal referrals on Pro.
Do affiliate plugins pay partners automatically?
Some support automatic or scheduled payouts after configuration; others offer payment records or manual workflows. Check the payout method, plan, funding setup and approval rules. Tracking a commission and sending the money are separate steps.
Will an affiliate plugin recruit partners for me?
A plugin can provide an application page, links, reporting and promotional assets. A productive program still needs a clear offer and partners whose audiences need the product. Build that offer alongside the software setup, rather than waiting for signups to turn into sales on their own.
