Amazon Music Unlimited Price: Prime vs Non-Prime

As of October 2026, Amazon Music Unlimited costs $12.99 a month, or $11.99 a month if you're a Prime member, after a 30 day free trial. The Family plan is $21.99 a month for up to 6 accounts, and in the UK the individual plan is £12.99, or £11.99 for Prime members.

Amazon Music Unlimited is Amazon's full music streaming service, separate from the music that comes with Prime. Its price depends on one thing: whether you already pay for Prime. And in the US, Amazon has added an audiobook to the subscription, which changes how it compares with other music apps.

The Family plan

Amazon also sells Amazon Music Unlimited Family in the US at $21.99 a month after a 30 day free trial. Amazon says it covers up to 6 accounts, with up to 6 people listening at the same time across multiple devices, and each person gets personalised recommendations of their own.

There's one catch on the Family page worth knowing: the Audible audiobook catalogue is for the account holder only. So the family shares the music, but the monthly audiobook stays with whoever pays. If two or more adults in your home would each use it every day, Family is the plan to compare against two separate subscriptions.

Each Amazon page says the subscription renews automatically after the trial until you cancel, and that the free trial is for new subscribers only.

What Amazon Music Unlimited includes

  • Unlimited access to 100 million songs, ad free and on demand
  • Ad free top podcasts
  • Audiobooks from Audible: in the US, one audiobook each month
  • HD and Spatial Audio

The audiobook is the newer part. Amazon's US page now says Audible is included and that you can listen to one audiobook each month. If you'd otherwise pay for an audiobook service just to get one book a month, that perk narrows the gap between Amazon Music Unlimited and a music only app.

Amazon Music Unlimited vs Prime Music

If you pay for Prime, you already get some music, which is why many people wonder whether Unlimited is worth it. Amazon's menu separates Amazon Music Unlimited, Amazon Music Prime and Amazon Music Free as three different services. Unlimited is the one that gives you the full catalogue on demand, ad free. If you just want background music, try what's included with Prime or the free tier before you subscribe.

How it compares with the other big music apps

Amazon gives Prime members a lower price, which matters if you already pay for Prime. If you're weighing it up, compare it with the Spotify Premium plans and the Apple Music plans, and think about where your playlists already live, because switching apps is the real cost.

How to pay the lowest price

  1. Check whether you already have Prime. If you do, you'll pay the lower member price.
  2. Start the 30 day free trial, which Amazon offers to new subscribers only.
  3. In the US, use the monthly audiobook during the trial to see whether you'd use it.
  4. Set a reminder before the trial ends, because it renews automatically.
  5. If you mostly listen to background playlists, compare what Prime's included music already gives you.

Which Amazon Music plan to pick

You have Prime and listen aloneIndividual at the Prime price$11.99
Two or more people at home want their own accountsFamily, up to 6 accounts$21.99

Amazon highlights HD and Spatial Audio on both the individual and Family pages, so you don't need a premium tier for better sound quality. The choice really comes down to how many people will listen and whether you already pay for Prime.

Can you cancel any time?

Yes. Amazon's pages say the subscription auto renews until cancelled, and the UK page puts it simply: free for 30 days, cancel anytime. There's no annual commitment on the monthly plan shown on these pages.

My verdict

For Prime members, Amazon Music Unlimited at $11.99 a month is a fair deal, and the US audiobook each month makes it better value than it used to be. If you don't have Prime, compare $12.99 with the music app you already use, and choose the one your playlists live in. Either way, take the 30 days free first and only keep it if you're using it every week.
