Choose Replit if you want to describe an app and have it built, hosted and launched in one place in your browser. Choose Claude Code if you already have a codebase and want an agent working on it, because Replit Core is $20 a month while Claude Code comes with Claude Pro at $20 monthly, as of October 2026.
Replit and Claude Code get compared a lot, but they do different halves of the job. One is a platform where the app is built and lives. The other is a coding agent that works on code you already own. I read Replit's pricing page and Anthropic's Claude plans page plus its Claude Code setup and costs docs, and the plans below are what those pages show, as of October 2026.

What a Replit plan covers
Replit describes itself as an AI platform where you describe what you want in plain language, then create, launch and grow apps, sites, tools and businesses in one place. The build, the hosting and the database live on Replit.
Core is $20 a month, or $18 a month billed annually, and Replit pitches it at personal projects and simple apps. It includes up to 30 hours of chat on Free Mode, up to 60 projects on Free Mode, $20 towards more powerful models, unlimited workspaces and AI integrations.
Pro is $100 a month, or $90 billed annually, for commercial and professional builds. It has everything in Core plus more Free Mode usage, $100 towards the most powerful models, premium support, up to 15 collaborators and database rollback up to 28 days. The Pro selector on the pricing page also lists higher tiers, and Enterprise is custom, with SSO, SCIM and audit logs. Replit notes that prices are subject to tax depending on where you are, and that Replit Agent is probabilistic, so it may occasionally make mistakes.
What a Claude subscription covers
Claude Code is Anthropic's coding agent, and it runs against the codebase you point it at, from the terminal, an IDE, the desktop app or the web. Anthropic's setup docs say it needs a Pro, Max, Ultra, Team, Enterprise or Console account; the free plan doesn't include it.
Pro is $17 a month with the annual discount ($200 billed up front) or $20 monthly. Max is $100 a month and Ultra is $200 a month. Use is limited every 5 hours, at 1x on Pro and 5x on Max, and Ultra has no 5-hour limit. Team seats are $20 a seat a month billed annually ($25 monthly), and premium seats are $100 billed annually ($125 monthly).
Through a Console account it charges by API token use instead, and Anthropic's costs doc puts the enterprise average at around $13 per developer per active day.
Same plan prices, different things bought
Look at the two plan lists and you'll see $20 and $100 on both. That's where the likeness ends. Replit's money pays for a platform: the place your app is built, hosted and stored, with a dollar allowance towards stronger models. Claude's money pays for use of a coding agent, refilled every 5 hours and every week, and there's no hosting in it at all. If you pick Claude Code, you still need somewhere to run what it builds.
Who should go with which
- You have an idea and no codebase yet: Replit, where the app is created and launched in one place.
- You already have a repo and want help changing it: Claude Code, which works on your own code.
- You're building something commercial with a small group: Replit Pro, with up to 15 collaborators and database rollback up to 28 days.
- You already pay for Claude Pro or Max: Claude Code is included in the plan.
- A development team that needs seats on one bill: Claude's Team standard and premium seats.

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
More tools in the same space
Other names people compare with these two: Cursor, Lovable, Bolt and Base44. Sort them first by whether they host your app or work on your code, then compare plans.
My advice if you're stuck between them
If you're not a developer and you want a working app online, I'd start on Replit, because you don't have to sort out hosting or a database separately. If you write code, or someone on your team does, Claude Code fits better, because it edits the code you own and you deploy it wherever you like. Plenty of people end up using both: one to get a quick version live, the other to work on the real codebase.
If you're working out which AI build tools your team should use and how to roll them out, this is what I do all day. I run AI training and workshops for teams, and help businesses with AI enablement and workflow automation, so the busywork runs itself and people get time back. Most of that work is with SaaS marketing teams and small businesses. Here's how we can work together.
