HubSpot Chrome Extension: Gmail, Salesforce and the Sales Sidebar Across the Web

The HubSpot Sales Chrome extension puts a HubSpot sidebar in Chrome so you can track and log Gmail emails, see and create company records on a prospect's website, enrol contacts in sequences and make calls without opening HubSpot. It's on all products and plans as of October 2026, though some features need a paid seat or subscription, and it only works on the sites you switch it on for.

Here's what confuses people. Out of the box it's only on for Gmail. To see the sidebar on other websites you have to turn on All other websites in its settings, and even then it's excluded from facebook.com, youtube.com, instagram.com, google.com and hubspot.com by default. You also need the latest version of the extension to use it across the web.

Where it runs and how to switch it on

WhereHow to turn it onWhat you need, as of October 2026
GmailOn by defaultAny product or plan
Google CalendarToggle the switch on under Extension enablementAny product or plan
SalesforceToggle the switch on, then click AllowProfessional or Enterprise subscription
All other websitesToggle the switch on under Extension enablementThe latest version of the extension

The extension can only read data on sites where it's enabled. To open it, click the sprocket icon in the top right of the address bar. If you can't see it, pin the extension to your toolbar. You'll find two tabs: Activity feed and Settings.

The activity feed

The activity feed is a list of real-time sales notifications. One fires when a lead comes back to your site, when a tracked email is opened or clicked, when a shared document is viewed and when a meeting is booked. Hover over an item to call the contact, or open the More menu to send an email, create a task, log a note, schedule a meeting or mute a busy thread with Turn off thread notifications.

Settings worth changing

Website exclusions stop the extension running on chosen sites. Enter a URL and click Add. To remove one, click the X next to it and refresh the page.

Enable Breeze Assistant gives you HubSpot's AI assistant in the sidebar, for asking questions, generating content and taking actions. It also has to be turned on in HubSpot itself. Enable Calling means inbound calls ring in the browser without a dedicated HubSpot tab open, as long as your ring preference is set to ring in HubSpot browser, and outbound calls stay live the same way.

Accounts in use shows which HubSpot account you're connected to; pick another from the dropdown and click Change account. Additional help is where you uninstall the extension or send feedback.

Adding a company straight from its website

  1. Go to the company's website and click the sprocket icon in the upper right.
  2. Click Add to HubSpot in the right panel.
  3. Fill in the Create Company form. If enrichment is set up for companies, it fills in automatically on Starter, Professional or Enterprise.
  4. Click Create to save the company to your CRM.

For a company already in your CRM, the same panel lets you log activities, edit properties and click Open in HubSpot. The Details tab shows the company's properties and lets you add deals, tickets and tasks. The Activity tab shows logged sales activity. The Contacts tab lists associated contacts and lets you create a new one or associate an existing one. Association labels need Professional or Enterprise, and on a brand new contact you set the label after the record is created.

Using it inside Salesforce

Salesforce use needs a Professional or Enterprise subscription. Each Salesforce user must also be a HubSpot user, logged in, with View records permission. For accounts and opportunities to show data, they must sync with a HubSpot company or deal that has an associated, syncing contact.

From a Salesforce contact, lead or account page, click the sprocket icon. Anyone can add notes, call through HubSpot, send one-to-one emails and create tasks. With a paid Sales Hub or Service Hub Professional or Enterprise seat you can also create meetings and enrol the contact in a sequence.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

That seat also unlocks bulk enrolment. Tick the contacts or leads on the Salesforce list page, click Enroll in sequence, find the sequence by name or owner, click Select, adjust the templates, delays and send times, then click Start sequence.

My verdict on the HubSpot Chrome extension

I'd turn on All other websites if you prospect from company sites, because adding a company from its own homepage beats copying details across by hand. I'd leave the default exclusions alone. If your team works in Salesforce, check seats before rollout: without a paid Sales Hub or Service Hub seat, reps can log and call but can't enrol anyone. For what to send once they're enrolled, here's my guide to building HubSpot sequences, and for the booking side, HubSpot meeting links.

An extension saves clicks. Getting your sales team working with AI across the whole workflow is the bigger win, and that's the work I do. I run AI training and workshops for teams, and help businesses with AI enablement, workflow automation and GEO, which is about getting your business seen and cited in AI answers. Most of that work is with SaaS marketing teams and small businesses. Here's how we can work together.
