FLUX Prompts: Copy and Paste Ideas for Photos, Text and Art

These FLUX prompts cover realistic photos, text in images, hex colours, product shots and illustration. Copy one, swap the [brackets] for your details and paste it into your FLUX tool. Black Forest Labs says a short prompt works, so add detail only where you need control.

FLUX is the image model I'd tell most people to try when they want sharp detail and words that spell correctly. Black Forest Labs, the team behind it, is refreshingly plain about prompting: say what's visible, name the light, and don't pad it out. I'll admit that's a relief after tools that want a paragraph of magic words.

Everything below's ready to copy. Swap the [brackets] for your details, you'll want to make people imaginary or use your own photos, and skip real celebrities and living artists' names. There's no negative prompt box to worry about, because FLUX takes everything from the prompt.

FLUX prompts for realistic photos

Start with the subject, then the setting, the light and the camera.

FLUX prompts with hex colour codes

How to get better results from FLUX prompts

  • Start short. BFL's guide says a short prompt works, so add detail only where you want control.
  • Aim for clear structure rather than length. BFL says a clear structure matters more than length.
  • Skip filler words. BFL says quality words like highly detailed or ultrarealistic add little compared with a concrete description.
  • Name the light and say what it does, such as low sun from the left casting long shadows.
  • Describe what's visible, not what you want left out. FLUX 3 Image has no negative prompt field, according to BFL.
  • Quote any words you want written in the image, and pair every hex code with a named object.

Once you've got a few images you like, it's time to put them to work. My guide to AI images for business shows how, and you can bring a favourite still to life with the tools in my round-up of comic and manga makers.

Frequently asked questions

What are FLUX prompts?

They're the written descriptions you give Black Forest Labs' FLUX models to make or edit an image. BFL says to describe the subject, setting, style, lighting and composition.

Does FLUX use negative prompts?

BFL says FLUX 3 Image has no negative prompt field, so everything goes in the prompt. Describe what you want to see instead.

How do I get FLUX to write text in an image?

Put the exact words in quotation marks, as BFL advises, and keep them short. Say where the text sits, such as on a sign or across the top of a poster.

Can I choose exact colours in FLUX?

Yes. BFL's guide says to use hex codes with FLUX.2, pairing each code with a specific object and writing the word color before it.

Should a FLUX prompt be long?

Not necessarily, and that's the nice surprise. BFL says a short prompt works and that clear structure matters more than length. Add detail only where you want control.
