Discord gift cards are prepaid cards that add a balance to your Discord account, which you can spend on Nitro, Nitro Basic, Nitro gifts, Shop items, Server Boosts and Game Shops items. As of October 2026, they're sold only through select online retailers in the United States, and you redeem them at discord.com/redeem or in the desktop app.
Here's the catch. Gift cards are country-locked: a card will only redeem on an account whose Country/Region setting matches the card's currency. You also can't redeem or spend the balance in the mobile app, refunds go back to your balance rather than a card, and you can't split a purchase between your balance and another payment method.
Where to buy a Discord gift card and what amounts exist
Discord says gift cards are currently sold through select online retailers in the United States, and its Help Center keeps the live list of those retailers. Digital cards are US only, and Discord says physical cards are coming soon.
Cards come in $25 and $50 options, or a choose-your-own amount between $15 and $150. Which amounts you can buy depends on the retailer. If you're wondering who's behind the card, Discord names the issuer as Weary Travelers, Inc., and says CIMI is the company it works with to bring gift cards to you.
How to redeem a Discord gift card
There are two ways, and both add the balance immediately:
- On any device: go to discord.com/redeem in a browser and enter the code.
- In the desktop app: open User Settings, then Billing, then Payment Methods, and select Redeem next to Gift Card Balance.
Either way, enter the code exactly as it's shown on the card.
Using your balance on a phone
Redeeming and spending a gift card balance isn't available in the Discord mobile app. If a phone is all you've got, this is the workaround Discord gives:
- Open a mobile browser and go to discord.com/redeem to add the card.
- To spend the balance, open Discord in the browser at discord.com/login rather than in the app.
- Buy what you want there. Purchases show up across all your devices afterwards.
Why your Discord gift card isn't working
If a code is refused, Discord's checklist comes down to four things:
- A typo. Enter the code exactly as it appears on the back of the card.
- The wrong country. Your account's Country/Region setting has to match the card's currency, or redemption is blocked. Check it under User Settings, then Billing, then Payment Methods.
- A limit. Your account may have reached its wallet balance or redemption limit.
- The mobile app. You can't view or spend the balance there, so switch to a browser.
If none of those fixes it, contact Discord support at dis.gd/billing, choose Refunds, Cancellations & Payments, then Gift Cards, and include the card details and a photo of the back of the card. If the problem started before you redeemed the card, Discord says to go to the retailer instead.
Balance rules at a glance
| Question | Discord's answer |
|---|---|
| Do they expire? | Not in the US; expiry terms vary by country elsewhere |
| Can I use them in the mobile app? | No, use a browser |
| Can I split a purchase with another payment method? | No, the balance must cover the full cost |
| Can I transfer the balance to another account? | No, it's tied to the account it was redeemed on |
| Can I redeem more than one card? | Yes, up to the maximum balance limit in your country |
| Where do refunds go? | Back to your account balance |
A few of these need a little more explanation. Accounts with multi-factor authentication can hold a higher balance, so turn it on if you're redeeming several cards. If you delete your account the balance may be forfeited, and if your account is suspended you can't get to the balance until the suspension ends.
Watch out for subscription renewals
Because your balance has to cover the whole purchase, a subscription paid from it can fall short at renewal. If that happens you have 3 days to update your payment method, and Discord won't automatically charge another payment method for you. So if you pay for Nitro from a gift card, keep an eye on the balance before each renewal, or the subscription can lapse. If you'd rather end it, here's how to cancel Discord Nitro.

Refunds and fraud
Refunds for qualifying purchases made with your gift card balance go back to your Discord balance, not to another payment method. If you think a card or your balance has been used fraudulently, contact Discord support through the billing form and choose the unauthorized transaction category.
Are Discord gift cards a good present?
They're a flexible present for a friend in the US, because one card covers Nitro, Shop items and Server Boosts. I'd be careful buying one for anyone outside the US: the card has to match their account's country and currency, and a blocked card is a frustrating gift. For someone elsewhere, sending Nitro as a gift inside Discord avoids that problem. And if you're not sure they need anything paid at all, here's what Discord gives you for free.
