A WordPress FAQ plugin turns your questions and answers into a tidy accordion, list or searchable section, usually from a block or a shortcode. Pick one for how it shows and organises answers, because Google no longer shows FAQ rich results. Ten free plugins follow in no particular order, with directory numbers as of Oct 2026.
FAQ sections earn their place on product pages, service pages and help pages, because they answer the questions people would otherwise email you about. The plugins below differ in how they build that section: some are a single block in the editor, some manage FAQs as their own content you can group and reuse, and a couple add AI or a chat-style assistant on top.
The ten are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and each description is the plugin's own from the WordPress.org plugin directory. If your FAQ is going on a service page, my service FAQ page template helps you choose which questions to answer.
FAQ and accordion plugins at a glance
Every plugin here is free to install from the WordPress.org plugin directory, as of Oct 2026, which is why each free plan cell says Yes. Some makers sell extra features on their own sites, so check the plugin's page for anything you're counting on.

Google retired the FAQ rich result
Google Search Central's documentation updates page says the FAQ rich result is no longer shown in Google Search results, and that the feature stopped appearing from May 7, 2026.
That changes how you should read these listings. Several FAQ plugins still put schema near the top of their descriptions, and two here name it outright: Awesome FAQ offers FAQ schema for SEO rich results, and Joli FAQ SEO lists schema.org. The markup can stay on your page, but it won't bring back the expanded FAQ results in Google, so it isn't a reason to pick one plugin over another.

What to judge an FAQ plugin on now
- How you build it: a block in the editor, as with FAQ Block for Gutenberg, a shortcode, as with FAQly, or a drag and drop editor.
- How it groups answers: Ultimate FAQ Solution has one-click FAQ groups, which keeps a long FAQ tidy by topic.
- Whether visitors can search: Ultimate FAQ Accordion names advanced search, which matters once you've got dozens of questions. It also has the most ratings on this list, 439, at 92/100 from 30,000+ installs, as of Oct 2026.
- Where it shows up: several plugins here mention WooCommerce product FAQs or Elementor, so check the description if your FAQs belong on product pages.
- Whether it can grow into a help centre: Helpie FAQ is an accordion, docs and knowledge base builder in one, and works with WooCommerce and Elementor.
AI-written answers still need your eye
Two plugins here add AI. The most installed one has an AI-powered FAQ generator, and the one with one-click groups offers AI-powered answers and a floating chat assistant. They'll save you from a blank page, but an FAQ is your business speaking, so read every generated answer before it goes live and cut anything you wouldn't say to a customer yourself.
Thin rating counts and one PHP surprise
The directory numbers are thin for most of this list, as of Oct 2026. Easy Accordion has the most installs, 70,000+, and 98/100 from 358 ratings, and after that the counts drop away fast.
Advanced FAQ Manager's 76/100 comes from 4 ratings, and three other plugins here have 5 ratings or fewer, one of them with a 100/100 built on a single review. A score built on a handful of reviews tells you very little, so lean on the description and the update date instead.
One more thing to check: Quick and Easy FAQs needs PHP 8.3, the highest requirement here by some way, and it's also the least recently updated of the ten (30 Jun 2026). If your host runs an older PHP version, it won't be the quick option its name promises.

My plain advice on FAQ plugins
Choose an FAQ plugin for the way it displays and organises answers, and ignore the schema promises. If you've only got a handful of questions on one page, a block is plenty. If you've got dozens across a shop or a help section, pick one with groups and search. Then write the answers yourself, short and specific.

Frequently asked questions
What does a WordPress FAQ plugin do?
It lets you add questions and answers to a page as an accordion, list or searchable section, usually through a block or a shortcode, and some let you manage and group FAQs in one place.
Does FAQ schema still show in Google?
No. Google Search Central's documentation updates page says the FAQ rich result is no longer shown in Google Search results, and it stopped appearing from May 7, 2026.
Do I need a plugin to add FAQs in WordPress?
Not always. A plugin earns its place when you want an accordion layout, or need to manage, group or search lots of FAQs across several pages.
Can an FAQ plugin write the answers for me?
Two plugins here describe AI features that draft answers or generate FAQs. Read and edit every one, because the answers speak for your business.
Are WordPress FAQ plugins free?
All ten here are free plugins in the WordPress.org plugin directory, as of Oct 2026.
