Best AI Email Marketing Tools (2026): 9 Platforms Compared

The best AI email marketing tools in 2026 are Klaviyo for ecommerce, HubSpot for an all-in-one CRM, Omnisend for AI on a free plan, ActiveCampaign for automation, and Migma for AI-built campaigns. Brevo, Mailchimp, MailerLite and GetResponse are solid all-rounders if you already know them.

Almost every email platform now says it has AI. Some of it saves you real time. Some of it is a button that writes a bland subject line. I've put together this list to help you tell the difference, so you can pick a tool for what you'll use, not what the homepage promises.

Everything below is based on what each company says on its own website this month. I haven't claimed to have tested any of them, and I've left out anything I couldn't verify. Features change quickly, so check the current details before you commit to a platform.

What counts as an AI email marketing tool

For this list I looked at two kinds of tool. The first is an established email platform that has added AI features, such as writing help, subject lines, send-time optimisation and smarter segmentation. The second is an AI-native tool built around the idea that you describe a campaign and the software builds it.

I'd ask the same question of both: does the AI remove a job from your week? Drafting a first version of an email, building an audience from a plain-English description and picking a send time for each person are all jobs. A chatbot bolted onto the side of a dashboard usually isn't.

The best AI email marketing tools in 2026

Klaviyo

Klaviyo is built mainly for online shops, and its AI features reflect that. Its site lists an AI email copy generator, brand voice AI, a free subject line generator, personalised send times and Segments AI, which creates audiences from a prompt. The one I'd look at first is Composer. The site says you tell it what you're trying to achieve and it builds the audience, drafts the content and maps out the send strategy.

Who it suits: It suits ecommerce brands that want the platform to do more of the planning, not only the writing.

Watch out for: the site doesn't mention a free plan on its AI page, so check what's included before you count on any of it.

HubSpot

HubSpot's email tools sit inside its wider marketing and CRM platform. The official page says you can boost opens with AI-generated subject lines and email copy, and use AI writing features with simple prompts, including slash commands and highlight options to rewrite text or change the tone. It states these are available on the free plan. A messaging insights feature, currently in beta, analyses your delivery and engagement and suggests improvements, but that one is a premium feature.

Who it suits: It suits small teams who want email, contacts and sales follow-up in one place.

Watch out for: the more advanced AI analysis is premium only, and an all-in-one platform can feel like a lot if all you need is a newsletter.

Omnisend

Omnisend is another ecommerce-focused platform. Its AI page lists email copywriting, subject line and preheader generation, product recommendations, dynamic content, an AI assistant that builds sign-up forms, RFM audience analysis and a segment builder where you describe an audience in words. It also mentions at-risk customer identification.

Who it suits: It suits online shops that want AI help on a free plan. The site says the free plan still includes subject line generation, content writing, segmentation and form creation.

Watch out for: it's clearly designed around shops. If you sell services or run a blog, some of the features won't apply to you.

ActiveCampaign

ActiveCampaign leans hard into AI agents and automation. Its homepage says the AI drafts your next campaign from your best-performing emails and brand identity instead of a blank page, and describes a team of AI agents handling email, SMS and WhatsApp. It also says AI handles segment creation as part of autonomous workflows. There's a 14-day free trial, and the site says no credit card is needed.

Who it suits: It suits businesses that already think in terms of automations and want more of that work handled for them.

Watch out for: the homepage doesn't spell out AI subject lines or send-time optimisation, so ask about those if they matter to you. I'd also treat the performance claims on the page as marketing until you see your own numbers.

Brevo

Brevo describes itself as an AI-first platform for email, SMS, CRM and automation. Its homepage introduces Aura, described as AI agents that work with you. The listed agents include an AI sales assistant that can enrich contacts and send sales emails in seconds, an AI data analyst you can ask questions in plain language, and an AI conversations agent that tailors replies to your tone.

Who it suits: It suits small businesses that want email, SMS and a simple CRM under one roof.

Watch out for: the AI on the homepage leans towards sales and support. If you mainly want AI to write and schedule campaigns, look closely at how the email editor handles it before you sign up.

GetResponse

GetResponse puts AI throughout its platform. The homepage says its email marketing uses AI that tailors content and recommends the right send time for every stage of the customer journey. It also says its automation uses AI to find the best time to reach each customer, and it lists an AI email generator, AI landing pages, an AI website builder, an AI course creator and AI product recommendations. There's a free 14-day trial with no credit card required.

Who it suits: It suits people who want email, landing pages and a website builder from one company.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

Watch out for: there are a lot of AI-labelled features, so decide which two or three you'll use and test only those during the trial.

MailerLite

MailerLite's homepage lists an AI writing assistant, an AI landing page builder, AI-powered A/B testing and smart sending. It also has an MCP server, which lets tools like Claude and ChatGPT manage your email marketing for you. The site offers a free 14-day trial of premium features with no credit card required.

Who it suits: It suits creators and small businesses who want a simple interface with a few useful AI extras.

Watch out for: the homepage gives few details on how each AI feature works, so try them in the trial before you decide. I couldn't confirm a permanent free plan from the pages I checked.

Mailchimp

Mailchimp is the name most small businesses know. Its site describes an AI-powered platform and lists generative AI features on its Standard plan. It also mentions Intuit Intelligence in beta, with limited availability and not offered on every plan. The site reminds you that AI can make mistakes and you're responsible for reviewing and approving generated content before you send it.

Who it suits: It suits people already using Mailchimp who want to try AI without switching platform.

Watch out for: the pages I checked were vague on exactly which tasks the AI handles, and it says certain AI features are only available in English. Check the plan you're on includes what you want.

Migma

Migma is the AI-native option here. Its site calls it an AI-powered email creation platform. You describe a campaign and it builds the emails, flows, segments and scheduling from a single click. You can edit visually by pointing and clicking, import designs from Figma, screenshots or HTML, and adapt to your brand from your own assets. It also says you can export to Klaviyo, Mailchimp and HubSpot. The site says there's a free tier to get started.

Who it suits: It suits marketers who already have a sending platform and want AI to build the campaigns before they export them.

Watch out for: it's a newer kind of tool, so check how well it fits with the platform you already send from before you rely on it.

What AI in email can and can't do for you

It's worth being realistic. AI is good at first drafts, alternative subject lines and sorting a list into groups. It's less good at knowing your customers, your offer or the story only you can tell. The emails that get replies usually sound like a person, so use the tool to get moving and then rewrite in your own words.

It also helps to test one thing at a time. Try AI subject lines for a month and compare open rates. Then try AI drafts. If you change everything at once, you won't know which change worked, and you'll end up trusting a feature that isn't earning its place.

How I'd choose

Start with what you sell, not with the AI. An online shop will get more from an ecommerce platform like Klaviyo or Omnisend, because product data and customer behaviour feed the AI. A consultant or blogger will probably be happier with a simpler tool and one strong writing assistant.

  • Already on a platform? Try its AI first. Switching to get a slightly better subject line rarely pays off.
  • Want to save writing time? Look for tone controls, rewrite options and a first draft from a short prompt.
  • Want to save planning time? Look at tools that build audiences and campaigns from a description, such as Klaviyo's Composer or Migma.
  • Watching your budget? Compare the free tiers and trials in my guide to the best email marketing tools for small business free tiers.
  • Building a list as a creator? My roundup of the best email marketing tools for creators covers a different set of priorities.

Whatever you choose, read every AI draft before it goes out. It's your name on the email. If you also want help with replies to clients, I've written about an AI email writer that saves time on client replies, and my list of ChatGPT prompts for email marketing works with almost any tool above.

One last point. People worry that AI-written emails land in spam. It's usually not the AI that causes it, it's poor list quality and sending habits. I explain the difference in why AI emails land in spam and it's not the AI.

Frequently asked questions

Which email platform has the best AI features?

It depends on what you need. Klaviyo and Omnisend are aimed at online shops. HubSpot and ActiveCampaign suit teams that want CRM and automation. Migma is built around describing a campaign and letting AI build it. There isn't one winner for everyone.

Can AI choose the best time to send my emails?

Some platforms say so. Klaviyo lists personalised send times, and GetResponse says its AI recommends the right send time and finds the best time to reach each customer. Check that the plan you choose includes the feature.

Are there free AI email tools?

Some have free options. HubSpot says its AI subject lines and writing features are available on the free plan, Omnisend says AI features are included on its free plan, and Migma says it has a free tier. Others offer a free trial. Terms change, so confirm on the official site.

Is it safe to send AI-written emails without editing?

I wouldn't. Even Mailchimp's site tells you to review and approve AI-generated content before sending. Use AI for a first draft, then add your own voice, check the facts and make sure the offer is right.
