Website personalization software changes what each visitor sees, such as headlines, offers, product recommendations or whole landing pages, based on who they are, where they came from and what they've done. Pick by site type: ecommerce engines that personalise products, or B2B and lead-gen tools that personalise messages. Ten options follow in no particular order.
A returning customer, a first-time visitor from an ad campaign and a buyer from a target account shouldn't all see the same homepage. Personalization tools read signals such as traffic source, location, past behaviour and company, then swap content, offers or products to match, and measure whether it lifted conversions.
This list covers per-visitor content, not A/B testing in general. The ten tools below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from each vendor's own website, read as of Oct 2026. If you want to test versions for everyone first, my guide to A/B testing tools covers that.
Personalization tools for ecommerce and B2B sites
I checked the free plan column on each vendor's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version or an open source edition. Trial only means it names a time-limited free trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the vendor's own site before you sign up.

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
What's left splits two ways: ecommerce engines that personalise search, merchandising and recommendations, and B2B or lead-gen tools that personalise headlines, offers and landing pages. Very few do both well, so start from the kind of site you run. If you have both a shop and a B2B site, you'll probably end up with two tools, and that's normal rather than a sign you chose badly.
Ecommerce personalisation or B2B message matching
- Ecommerce. Personalised search results, category order, product recommendations, bundles and post-purchase upsells, driven by what each shopper browses and buys.
- B2B and lead generation. Different headlines, proof and calls to action for each industry, company size or ad campaign, plus landing pages that match the ad.
- Experimentation suites. Testing platforms that add segments and personalised experiences, useful when you want to prove each change works.
On a Shopify store, saved items give you something to remind shoppers about, and our list of Shopify wishlist apps shows the apps that handle it.
Five things to settle before you personalise anything
- Signals. What will you personalise on: traffic source, location, behaviour, company or past purchases?
- Content. Do you have different versions ready, or will AI write them?
- Measurement. Will each personalised experience run against a control group?
- Speed. Does the tool slow pages down or cause content to flicker on load?
- Privacy. Is consent handled correctly for the data you're using?
Heatmaps and recordings tell you where visitors struggle, which is often where personalisation pays off first. My roundup of heatmap tools covers that research step.

My plain advice on website personalization
Start with one high-traffic page and one clear signal, such as returning visitors or visitors from a single ad campaign. Show them something more relevant, keep a control group, and see whether conversions move before you build ten segments.
Ecommerce shops should look first at the search and recommendation engines. B2B sites should start with message matching for their main ad campaigns, so the page a visitor lands on repeats the promise the ad made, because that's where a mismatch loses the most clicks.

Frequently asked questions
What is website personalization?
It's showing different content, offers or products to different visitors based on signals such as where they came from, what they've done before and who they are.
What's the difference between personalization and A/B testing?
A/B testing shows versions at random to find the one that works best for everyone. Personalization shows the best version for each type of visitor.
Is there free website personalization software?
One tool on this list names a free plan with no time limit, shown in the free plan column. Another offers a free trial.
Does personalization slow down my website?
It can, if content loads after the page. Ask each vendor how it avoids flicker and test page speed before and after.
Do I need lots of traffic to personalise?
More traffic helps you measure results faster. With less traffic, start with one big segment, such as returning visitors, rather than many small ones.
