HubSpot Blog: How to Create, Set Up and Publish Blog Posts

To write a HubSpot blog post, go to Content, then Blog, click Create, pick the blog and language, then write in the Blog Content module and publish or schedule it. Blog posts are on all products and plans as of October 2026, and you need Marketing Access with Edit permission to write and Publish permission to put posts live.

The catch people find too late: templates belong to the blog, not the post. Change the post template and you've changed it for every post on that blog, because unique templates can't be applied to individual posts. If you need a different layout for a type of content, it has to live on a different blog.

You can start a post from scratch, import it from an external blog, or generate it with Breeze, HubSpot's AI.

Creating a post

  1. Click More, then go to Content, then Blog. If More isn't there, go to Content, then Blog directly.
  2. Click Create in the top right.
  3. Choose a blog from the Select a blog dropdown, then pick the Post language.
  4. Click Create blog post to open the content editor.
  5. Click the Contents icon in the left sidebar, then the Blog Content module, and write.
  6. Toggle Focus Mode on in the top right if you want a stripped-back writing view.

Two tools worth knowing. The Read more separator, under the Insert dropdown in the rich text toolbar, sets how much of the post shows as a summary on your listing page, and you can drag it to move it. The Add icon lets you drag more modules into the post body, and you can clone, move and rename them.

Titles, URLs and authors

In Settings, the Blog title goes in the H1 at the top of the post, the browser tab and search results. Click Customize blog's page title to split them: the H1 readers see on the page, and a separate page title for the browser and search results.

You can move a post to another blog from the Blog dropdown. Once that's published, the URL changes and HubSpot creates a redirect from the old one automatically. The Content slug field edits the URL directly. The Author dropdown takes more than one author, and Tags lets you pick an existing tag or type a new one.

The featured image is what shows when the post is shared on social media. Under Featured image in Settings, toggle Enabled featured image on, upload or browse your files, and add alt text for accessibility. Post narration uses Breeze to generate an audio version of the post.

Under Metadata you write the meta description that appears in search results, and on Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise you can attach the post to a campaign. Language and Region sets the post language. Advanced holds a Head HTML field for one post, a link to manage the blog's subscription email settings, and a custom canonical URL.

The Optimize panel

Click the gauge icon in the left sidebar. You can attach the post to a core topic, or tick Is this supporting content? and pick a subtopic keyword, creating new ones as you go. SEO recommendations are grouped by category: a red circle marks a category with work left, each finished item gets a green checkmark and unfinished ones stay grey.

Preview, publish and schedule

Preview lets you check device sizes, switch between Main List View and Full Post View, and preview personalisation as a specific contact or smart content by smart rule. If Google AMP is on for the post, you can preview that version too. Copy link shares the preview, but only with users logged in to your HubSpot account.

When you click Publish, you may get extra options: a preview of how the post looks on social, if social sharing is on, and a box to enable Google AMP for just this post. To schedule, click the dropdown next to Publish, choose Scheduling options, then Schedule publish, and pick a date and time. Any edits you make before then are included.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

After it's live, content remix can turn the post into other content types, on Content Hub Professional or Enterprise.

My verdict on blogging in HubSpot

I'd use Customize blog's page title on every post. Your H1 can be the headline readers enjoy, while the page title in search results carries the words people type. I'd write every meta description myself, set alt text on every featured image, and decide on the template before you publish much, because changing it later changes every post. Then add a HubSpot form so readers can become leads, and if you're choosing an edition, here's what Marketing Hub adds.

A blog that answers your buyers' questions is what gets you quoted in AI answers. That's the part I help businesses with. I run AI training and workshops for teams, and help businesses with AI enablement, workflow automation and GEO, which is about getting your business seen and cited in AI answers. Most of that work is with SaaS marketing teams and small businesses. Here's how we can work together.
