YouTube publishes no rupee figure for 10 million Shorts views. What it does publish is that 10 million is a rule in its own right: with 1,000 subscribers it's a route into the Partner Program today, and from 1 February 2027 it's the 90-day total a channel needs to keep earning from the Shorts Creator Pool, where you're paid 45% of your allocation.
So 10 million Shorts views is a threshold, not a payday. This page sets out exactly where that number sits in YouTube's rules as of November 2026, how the 90-day window is measured, what rises to 20 million for new creators, and how the money reaches you in India once you're over the line.
Where 10 million sits in YouTube's rules
Ten million appears more than once in YouTube's Help pages, and each time it does a different job. Here are the Shorts view numbers that matter, side by side:
| Qualified Shorts views in 90 days | What it does | When |
|---|---|---|
| 1 million | Keeps a channel counted as active in the Partner Program (one of several ways) | From 1 February 2027 |
| 3 million, with 500 subscribers | Earlier access to fan funding, YouTube Creator Partnerships and YouTube Shopping | Today, and unchanged in 2027 |
| 10 million, with 1,000 subscribers | Route into the Partner Program | Today |
| 10 million | Needed each month to earn from the Shorts Creator Pool and YouTube Premium revenue | From 1 February 2027 |
| 20 million, with 1,000 subscribers | Route into the Partner Program for new creators | From 1 February 2027 |
If you're already in the programme, the entry change doesn't touch you. But the monthly pool bar does, and it's the same 10 million number you may have used to get in.
How the 90-day window is measured
This is the detail almost nobody explains. YouTube's Shorts page says total views are measured against the threshold over the 90-day period ending on the 15th day of the calendar month before the month being calculated. In plain terms, the cut-off for a month's earnings falls in the middle of the previous month, so a burst of views late in a month may count towards a later month than you'd expect.
The practical effect: a single viral Short can carry you over the bar for a while, then drop you below it once its views roll out of the window. Steady output keeps the 90-day total stable.
Qualified, engaged and total views aren't the same
The number on your view counter isn't the number YouTube measures. Entry and the pool bar use qualified Shorts views. Pool money is shared by engaged views. And only engaged views that follow the advertiser-friendly content guidelines count, while fake views from bots don't count at all. Views from before you switched on the Shorts Monetization Module aren't eligible either, and Shorts over one minute with claimed content are blocked from monetisation.
So a channel showing 10 million on its counter may sit below 10 million qualified views. Use YouTube's own figures in Studio, not the public counter, to judge where you stand.
The February 2027 change in brief
From 1 February 2027, three things shift for Shorts creators. New creators need 20 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days, plus 1,000 subscribers, to join; people already in the programme aren't affected. Every member needs 10 million qualified Shorts views over the last 90 days to share in the Creator Pool each month, though missing it doesn't remove you from the programme and doesn't affect long-form earnings. And a channel is treated as active if it has 1,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days, or 1 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days, or uploads 2 long-form videos or 5 Shorts every 90 days. Members also need to accept the updated terms in YouTube Studio by 31 January 2027. The full list is in my guide to the 2027 YouTube Partner Program changes.
What clearing the bar pays
Clearing 10 million doesn't trigger a fixed sum. It lets you share in that month's Creator Pool. YouTube pools Shorts Feed ad revenue each month, takes out music licensing, and shares the rest by each creator's share of engaged views in each country. You keep 45% of what's allocated to you. Your Indian views are pooled with other Indian views, so their value depends on that country's pool, not a global rate.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
That's why I won't multiply anything out to a rupee total for 10 million views. YouTube gives no rate, and its only worked money example is a hypothetical for a made-up country. For a smaller step on the same ladder, here's what YouTube Shorts pay per 1 million views, and what 1 lakh Shorts views earn in India covers the early stage.
Getting paid in India once you're over the line
The payment path is the same as for any Partner Program money:
- Finalised earnings for the previous month are added to your AdSense for YouTube balance between the 7th and 12th.
- Your balance on the 20th has to reach the payment threshold, which is $100 for dollar accounts as of November 2026. YouTube's threshold table has no rupee row. Below the threshold, the balance rolls over to the next month.
- Payment goes out between the 21st and 26th, as long as there are no holds, your US tax info is in, monetisation isn't suspended and you're following the policies.
- For India, YouTube's payment table lists wire transfer as the only form of payment, to a bank in the same country or region as the address in your payments settings.
What I'd track at 10 million
I'd treat 10 million as a threshold to hold, not a total to celebrate, and track the qualified 90-day figure against that mid-month cut-off. If you're not in the programme yet and you're close, I'd apply before 1 February 2027, while the entry route is still 10 million rather than 20 million. And I'd skip any article that turns 10 million Shorts views into a rupee total. YouTube doesn't, and nobody else can do it honestly.
Frequently asked questions
How much money do 10 million YouTube Shorts views make in India?
YouTube doesn't publish a rupee figure. Shorts pay is a 45% share of your Creator Pool allocation, shared by engaged views in each country, as of November 2026.
Is 10 million Shorts views enough to join YouTube Partner Program?
Yes, with 1,000 subscribers, if the 10 million qualified Shorts views come in the last 90 days. From 1 February 2027 new creators will need 20 million.
Do I need 10 million Shorts views every month from 2027?
From 1 February 2027 you need 10 million qualified Shorts views over the last 90 days to earn from the Shorts Creator Pool each month. Missing it doesn't remove you from the programme.
How is the 90-day Shorts view window measured?
YouTube measures it over the 90 days ending on the 15th day of the calendar month before the month whose earnings are being calculated.
Are qualified Shorts views the same as total views?
No. YouTube uses qualified views for thresholds, and only engaged views that follow the advertiser-friendly guidelines count for pool money; bot views don't count.
