10 Million Views on Facebook: Money in India Explained

There's no fixed payout for 10 million views on Facebook in India, because Facebook pays a share of in-stream ad revenue, not a rate per view. Only views where an ad played earn, so the money depends on video length, niche, audience location and watch time.

I get this question a lot from Indian creators who've just watched a video take off: what does 10 million views on Facebook pay? The searches come in every shape, from 10 million to 15 million to 20 million views, and they all hit the same wall. Facebook doesn't pay for views. It pays a share of the ads that ran while people watched, and that changes the maths completely.

Why 10 million views doesn't have one price

Facebook's money for most creators comes from in-stream ads. Those are the short ad breaks that run inside videos longer than one minute. Your share is roughly 55 percent of the ad revenue, and Meta keeps roughly 45 percent. A view only earns when an ad loads and plays during it, so the headline number on your video is the wrong thing to multiply.

In my guide to what Facebook pays for 1 million views in India, the worked example shows how a million views can turn into only a few hundred thousand monetised ad impressions. Short Reels under 90 seconds mostly carry no ad break at all, so they build reach without paying much directly. Longer videos of three minutes or more can carry mid-roll breaks, and that's where the money sits.

Scale that up to 10 million views and the same rule holds. If most of those views came from one viral Reel, the payout can be tiny. If they came from a run of longer explainer videos with an engaged audience, it can be many times higher. Two pages with identical view counts can end up with very different cheques.

The four things that decide your payout

Format and length

A page built on short Reels gets reach. A page built on videos over one minute gets ad breaks. If your 10 million views are mostly Reels, look at the share of watch time that came from longer videos before you guess at a figure.

Niche

Finance, business, tech and education content attracts bigger advertisers, so the rate per thousand ad impressions is higher. Entertainment, memes and reaction clips sit at the bottom. In the 1 lakh views example on this site, a finance explainer earned more than double a recipe video with the same views.

Where your viewers live

Indian audiences sit at the lower end of Facebook's ad rates because advertiser budgets per user are smaller. A business-niche Indian audience might see roughly $1 to $2.50 per thousand impressions, against $4 to $12 for a US or UK audience. Views from the Gulf, the UK or the US raise your average.

Retention

If people scroll away before the first ad break, that view counts towards your 10 million but earns nothing. Watch time past the ad break is the number that pays.

How to estimate your own 10 million views

  1. Open Professional Dashboard and filter your videos by the period that delivered the 10 million views.
  2. Split the views into Reels and videos over one minute, because only the longer ones carry in-stream ads.
  3. Check the approximate ad impressions or earnings Meta shows for each monetised video, not the view total.
  4. Note where the audience came from, since a page with viewers outside India usually earns more per impression.
  5. Add any Stars you received during live sessions. Roughly 1 Star equals 1 US cent to the creator.
  6. Compare that total with what one brand deal would pay for the same reach before you plan your next videos.

Doing it this way gives you your own rate, which beats any figure copied from a screenshot. If you want a quicker guide, the 1 lakh views on Facebook breakdown shows the calculation step by step at a smaller scale, and you can scale it up with your own numbers.

Can you even get paid for these views?

Only if your page is in the programme. To qualify for in-stream ads you need at least 10,000 followers and 600,000 total watch minutes across your videos in the last 60 days. That watch-time threshold rolls, so a single viral video doesn't guarantee you stay eligible. Many creators hit 10 million views on a Reel and then find nothing has been paid because the page never qualified, or because the video was too short for an ad break.

Most India-specific Reels bonus programmes were wound down by 2024, which is why old screenshots of big payouts no longer match what creators see today.

What 10 million views is worth beyond ad revenue

This is where most of the real money is. A page that can reliably pull millions of views is worth a lot to brands, and a single paid post can be worth more than a month of ad share. The Facebook 1 million followers income guide puts the monthly range for a large Indian page at somewhere between Rs 20,000 and Rs 8 lakh, and the spread comes from brand deals, niche and video views rather than follower count.

  • Pitch brands while the viral video is still fresh, with a screenshot of reach and audience location.
  • Add an affiliate link to the caption or first comment of your best-performing videos.
  • Use the attention to build an email list or a WhatsApp channel you control.
  • Turn the topic of your viral video into a longer video that carries ad breaks.

A sensible way to think about it

Treat 10 million views as proof that your content can travel, not as a payslip. The page that turns that proof into steady longer videos, a clear niche and a couple of brand relationships will out-earn the page that waits for Meta to send money. Frequently asked questions

How much does Facebook pay for 10 million views in India?

There's no fixed rate. Facebook pays a share of in-stream ad revenue, and only views where an ad played earn money. My 1 million views guide puts a million views in India at roughly $50 to $600, and the figure for 10 million depends on how many of those views were on longer, ad-eligible videos.

Do Facebook Reels pay for views in India?

Short Reels mostly don't carry in-stream ad breaks, so they earn little directly. Most India-specific Reels bonus programmes ended by 2024. Reels are best used for reach, with longer videos, Stars and brand deals doing the earning.

Is 20 million views on Facebook twice the money of 10 million?

Not reliably. Payout follows ad impressions, niche and audience location, so 20 million views of short clips can earn less than 10 million views of longer videos with an engaged audience.

What do I need to get paid by Facebook?

For in-stream ads you need at least 10,000 followers and 600,000 total watch minutes across your videos in the last 60 days, plus content that follows Meta's monetisation rules.

What earns more than ad revenue on a viral page?

Brand deals usually do. A page with proven reach can charge for a single post a fee that matches several months of ad share, and affiliate links and your own products add to that.
