1 Million Subscribers YouTube Income in India (2026): What the Pay Formula Counts

YouTube doesn't publish an income for 1 million subscribers, and subscriber count isn't in its earnings formula at all. You're paid a share of revenue on monetised views and fan features: as of November 2026, 55% of net Watch Page ad revenue, 45% of your Shorts Creator Pool allocation and 70% of net membership and Super Chat revenue.

So a million subscribers changes nothing in the formula. What it does change is the scale of the plumbing: more money moving through AdSense for YouTube, a wire transfer into an Indian bank, and a US tax form that decides how much gets held back. That's what this page covers, using YouTube's own Help pages. There's no per-subscriber or per-view rate to quote, and I won't make one up.

The pay formula has no subscriber box

YouTube's partner earnings overview says there are no guarantees under the partner agreement about how much or whether you'll be paid, and that earnings are generated from a share of advertising revenue from viewers watching your video. Read that sentence twice. Viewers watching, not people subscribed.

A million subscribers who've stopped watching earn you nothing. A smaller channel with a loyal audience can out-earn you. What moves the number, according to YouTube's pages:

  • Whether the views are monetised and engaged.
  • Which product earned the money, because each one has its own share.
  • Whether the video is advertiser-friendly.
  • Ad revenue adjustments for invalid traffic, claims and disputes.
  • For Shorts, music use in the pool and the country the viewers are in.
  • Tax withholding on earnings from US viewers.

Three shares sitting under one channel

A million-subscriber channel usually earns from more than one product at once, and YouTube pays a different share on each. These are the figures on YouTube's earnings page as of November 2026:

ProductShare YouTube pays youWhat it covers
Watch Page ads55% of net revenueAds on your public videos on the Watch Page, and when they play in the YouTube player on other sites or apps
Shorts45% of your allocationYour slice of the Shorts Creator Pool, based on your share of views
Fan funding70% of net revenueChannel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers and Super Thanks

The insight most income charts miss: a channel that's mostly Shorts and one that's mostly long-form can have the same million subscribers and be paid under completely different rules. Before you compare yourself to anyone, check which row your money comes from.

RPM is the closest thing to a rate, and it's only yours

YouTube's ad revenue analytics page defines RPM, or Revenue Per Mille, as how much you've earned per 1,000 video views. It's calculated per 1,000 engaged views, after YouTube's revenue share, and it includes views that weren't monetised. It combines ads, channel memberships, YouTube Premium revenue, Super Chat and Super Stickers. CPM is the cost per 1,000 ad impressions before the share, which is why your RPM is always lower than your CPM. For a fuller walk-through, see what RPM means on YouTube.

RPM is your channel's number, not a published rate for India. Nobody else's RPM tells you what yours will be.

From AdSense to an Indian bank account

This is where Indian creators hit details that global articles skip. YouTube's payment method table, read on 1 November 2026, shows these forms of payment by country:

CountryForms of payment listed
IndiaWire transfer only
PakistanCheck and wire transfer
NigeriaCheck and wire transfer
PhilippinesCheck and wire transfer
United KingdomEFT and wire transfer
United StatesEFT and PayPal Hyperwallet

So for India it's wire transfer, to a bank or branch in the same country or region as the address in your payments settings. You can't change your payment currency once it's set. The payment threshold for dollar accounts is $100 as of November 2026; YouTube's threshold table has no rupee row, so I won't give one. On timing, finalised earnings for the previous month land in your AdSense for YouTube balance between the 7th and 12th, the balance on the 20th has to reach the threshold, and payment goes out between the 21st and 26th if there are no holds. I've gone through the bank side in my guide to AdSense payments in India.

The US tax line Indian creators miss

Every creator in the Partner Program has to give Google US tax info, wherever they live. If you don't, Google may deduct up to 24% of your total earnings worldwide. YouTube's own tax page gives a hypothetical for a creator in India, and these are YouTube's made-up numbers, not anyone's income:

YouTube's hypothetical: $1,000 earned in a month, $100 from US viewersAmount deducted
No tax info submitted$240
Tax info submitted, India-US treaty benefit claimed (15% of US-viewer earnings)$15
Tax info submitted, no treaty benefit (30% of US-viewer earnings)$30

That's the gap between skipping one form and filling it in. YouTube says to submit the form and claim any treaty benefit by Dec. 10th each year. Indian tax on your income is separate, and YouTube points you to your local tax authorities for that.

What the million milestone does bring

The milestone itself brings the Gold Creator Award, given at 1,000,000 subscribers at YouTube's sole discretion after a review. The channel must be active with uploads in the last 6 months, have no active Community Guidelines violation and none in the last 365 days, not be rejected or suspended from the Partner Program, and have mainly original content. You don't need to be in the programme to qualify. You'll get a notification in Creator Studio within 10 days, shipping takes 2 to 4 weeks, and any customs duties or taxes are yours. The award carries no payment.

India is named on YouTube's Partner Program availability list, as are Pakistan, Nigeria, the Philippines, the UK and the US, so the programme itself is open to you. For the general global take on this milestone, here's what a YouTuber with 1 million subscribers makes in broad terms.

How to read your own number

Instead of trusting an income chart, open the figures YouTube keeps for you:

  1. In YouTube Studio, open Analytics and go to the Revenue tab. Estimated revenue there covers all revenue types, including memberships, YouTube Premium revenue and Super Chat.
  2. Open the revenue sources report to see estimated ad revenue, which is revenue from ads alone.
  3. Check RPM for your earnings per 1,000 views after YouTube's share, and compare it month to month, not channel to channel.
  4. Look at estimated monetised playbacks, the number of times your videos were watched with ads.
  5. Open your AdSense for YouTube account to see the balance and confirm your tax info, verification and wire transfer details are complete.

My verdict

I'd ignore every income figure for 1 million subscribers and read my own Revenue tab instead, because the formula doesn't count subscribers and the charts can't know your views. And I'd skip nothing on the tax form. On YouTube's own example, it's the difference between $240 and $15 held back.

Frequently asked questions

How much does YouTube pay for 1 million subscribers in India?

YouTube doesn't publish a figure. Subscribers aren't in the earnings formula; you're paid a share of revenue from viewers watching, such as 55% of net Watch Page ad revenue as of November 2026.

Is there a YouTube rate per subscriber or per view?

No. None of YouTube's Help pages gives a rate per subscriber, per view or per 1,000 views. Your own RPM in YouTube Analytics is the nearest figure, and it's specific to your channel.

How do Indian YouTubers receive payment?

By wire transfer. YouTube's payment table lists it as the only form of payment for India, to a bank in the same country as your payments address.

How much tax does YouTube deduct from Indian creators?

Without tax info, Google may deduct up to 24% of total worldwide earnings. With tax info and the India-US treaty claimed, YouTube's example shows 15% of earnings from US viewers.

What do you get at 1 million subscribers on YouTube?

The Gold Creator Award, reviewed at YouTube's discretion. It's recognition only and carries no payment.
