X Premium costs $3 a month for Basic, $8 a month for Premium and $40 a month for Premium+ in the US when you subscribe on the web, as of October 2026. Paying yearly brings those to $32, $84 and $395, and X says the app stores charge more than the website.
Those are X's own figures from its Help Center pricing table, read in October 2026. The table lists web prices country by country, and the gap between tiers is bigger than most people expect: Premium+ is five times the price of Premium in the US. So before you pick a tier, it's worth knowing what each one adds and where you'll pay the least for it.
X Premium prices in the US, UK, Canada and Australia
These are the web prices from X's table. They exclude tax such as VAT and any fees your payment method adds, which X says sit on top.
| Country | Basic monthly | Basic yearly | Premium monthly | Premium yearly | Premium+ monthly | Premium+ yearly |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States | $3.00 | $32.00 | $8.00 | $84.00 | $40.00 | $395.00 |
| United Kingdom | £3.00 | £32.00 | £8.00 | £84.00 | £31.00 | £313.00 |
| Canada | 3.75 CAD | 40.00 CAD | 10.00 CAD | 105.00 CAD | 56.00 CAD | 560.00 CAD |
| Australia | 4.88 AUD | 51.43 AUD | 13.00 AUD | 135.00 AUD | 62.00 AUD | 621.00 AUD |
| Ireland | 3.00 EUR | 32.00 EUR | 8.00 EUR | 84.00 EUR | 38.00 EUR | 377.00 EUR |
| New Zealand | 4.88 NZD | 51.43 NZD | 13.00 NZD | 135.00 NZD | 70.00 NZD | 691.00 NZD |
One thing jumps out of that table: Basic and Premium cost the same number in pounds as in dollars, but Premium+ is £31.00 a month in the UK against $40.00 in the US. Prices are set per country, not converted from the US price, so don't assume your local figure from the American one.
Why the app price is higher than the website
X's FAQ says it plainly: subscription prices are different on Android and iOS because of app store fees, and to get the lowest price you should buy on the web. If you subscribe inside the iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google bills you, and you'll pay their price rather than the table above.
That also changes who you deal with later. X says subscribers must contact Apple or Google directly for app-related refund and cancellation issues. If you want X to be the one billing you, subscribe on x.com.
What each tier adds for the price
| Tier | What X lists for it |
|---|---|
| Basic | Editing posts, longer posts and longer video uploads, reply prioritisation, text formatting, bookmark folders, custom app icons |
| Premium | Everything in Basic plus a checkmark, reduced ads, the option to apply for Creator Subscriptions and Original Content Rewards, larger reply prioritisation, ID verification, Media Studio and higher Grok limits |
| Premium+ | Everything in Premium plus SuperGrok access, no ads in most areas of X, the largest reply prioritisation, Radar Search and Articles |
The checkmark is the bit that catches people. Basic doesn't include it at all. On Premium and Premium+, X says the blue checkmark appears only after a review of your account, and the FAQ adds that the review can take several business days.
Monthly or yearly: which is cheaper
Yearly works out cheaper on every tier. In the US, Premium is $84.00 for a year against $8.00 a month, which is less than twelve monthly payments. The catch is the refund rule. X's FAQ says that unless you're switching to a higher tier, subscriptions are non-refundable unless the law requires it, and that includes accounts that get suspended. So a yearly plan only saves you something if you're confident you'll still want it in month eleven.
Changing tier after you've paid
- On the web, upgrading applies the credit left on your current cycle to the new tier and charges the difference straight away.
- On the web, downgrading keeps your current plan until the cycle ends, then switches you to the cheaper tier with no refund for the current cycle.
- On iOS, upgrading from an iOS subscription gives a partial, prorated refund for the rest of the old one.
- On Android, an upgrade starts instantly once you pay, and the remaining time is prorated and credited to you.

Is there a free X Premium
X's pricing table and FAQ list no free tier of Premium. What X does offer is gifting: a Premium subscriber can gift Premium or Premium+ to someone who isn't subscribed yet. Every subscriber also has to confirm a phone number when signing up, so a number that's already linked to more than ten accounts won't work.

The verdict
For most small businesses, Premium on the web is the tier to look at first. It's where the checkmark, reduced ads and the creator tools start, and buying on x.com keeps you on X's own price. Basic suits you if all you want is editing and longer posts. Premium+ is a big jump, so I'd only go there if you're using Grok heavily or want an almost ad-free X.
