Veo 3 Prompts: Copy and Paste Ideas With Sound and Dialogue

These Veo 3 prompts help you make short videos with speech, sound effects and ambient noise. Copy one, swap the [brackets] for your details and paste it into Veo. Google's guide says to put spoken lines in quotation marks and label your sound effects.

What makes Veo 3 different from most video generators is sound. Google says it can build a whole soundtrack from your text, which means your prompt isn't just a shot list. It's also a script, a sound mix and a set of directions for the speaker. That's what these prompts are built around.

Copy one, swap the [brackets] for your own details and paste it into Veo. Keep people fictional or use your own reference photos, and don't ask for real celebrities or trademarked characters.

Google's guidance is to put spoken lines in quotation marks. Say who speaks, and keep each line short enough to fit the clip.

How to get better results from Veo 3 prompts

  • Use the formula: cinematography, subject, action, context, then style and ambiance. Google calls cinematography the most powerful tool for conveying tone and emotion.
  • Put spoken words in quotation marks and name who says them. Keep the lines short.
  • Label sounds. A line beginning SFX and another beginning Ambient noise keeps the audio tidy.
  • Match the clip length. Google says clips are 4, 6, or 8 seconds, so don't write a script that needs a minute.
  • Say what to leave out in concrete terms. Google's example prefers "no buildings or roads" to "no man-made structures".
  • Write in English for the best results. The Gemini API docs say English is fully supported.

Frequently asked questions

What are Veo 3 prompts?

They're text descriptions you give Google's Veo 3 to generate a short video. Because Veo can create sound, a good prompt also covers dialogue, sound effects and ambient noise.

How do I add dialogue to a Veo 3 prompt?

Put the spoken words in quotation marks and say who is speaking. Google's guide uses this format and suggests describing sound effects and ambient noise separately.

How long can a Veo 3 video be?

Google's prompting guide says clips can be 4, 6, or 8 seconds. Plan your script and shots to fit that.

Can I use Veo 3 for vertical videos?

Yes. Google's guide lists 16:9 and 9:16 aspect ratios, so you can ask for vertical clips for social media.

What's the difference between Veo 3 prompts and other AI video prompts?

Veo prompts can direct audio: speech, sound effects and background noise. Other tools often focus on the picture alone, so Veo prompts are usually more like a short script.
