How Much Does TikTok Pay per 1,000 Views in Malaysia?

TikTok pays Malaysian creators nothing per 1,000 views, because Malaysia isn't on the Creator Rewards Program country list. The money for creators in Malaysia comes from TikTok Shop affiliate commission, LIVE Gifts, Subscription and brand campaigns, not from views.

Malaysia is one of the most interesting TikTok markets to write about, because the per-view answer and the earning answer point in completely different directions. Views alone pay nothing. Selling through TikTok can pay a lot. Let me walk you through both, so you know where to put your effort.

Is Creator Rewards open in Malaysia?

No. TikTok's Creator Academy lists the Creator Rewards Program as open to creators in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil only. You must live in one of those countries and have your account registered there, so a creator in Kuala Lumpur, Penang or Johor Bahru can't join.

The programme also only counts views from those eight countries. A Malay-language video watched mainly in Malaysia wouldn't earn per-view rewards even on an eligible account. That's why I'd ignore any ringgit figure per 1,000 views you see online: TikTok doesn't publish one, and the programme that pays for views doesn't run in Malaysia.

TikTok Shop: the big earner for Malaysian creators

Here's where Malaysia stands apart from most of its neighbours on this list. TikTok Shop runs a dedicated Malaysia seller site, and Malaysia sits in the Shop's region menu alongside Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Singapore. That opens the affiliate route.

TikTok's Creator Academy explains that Shop affiliates collect rewards from products sold through their videos, LIVE sessions and product showcase, without holding any stock. You pick products that fit your content, add a product link before you post, and earn commission when viewers buy inside the app. TikTok also says you need to be over 18 to sell or showcase products.

For a Malaysian creator, that changes the maths. A video with modest views but strong buying intent can earn more through Shop commission than a viral dance clip ever would. Food, beauty, home and baby products tend to suit this model well.

What really decides your TikTok earnings in Malaysia

  • Buying intent. TikTok's guide to audience commercial value says advertisers look at purchasing power and buying intent. A product review pulls buyers. A meme pulls laughs.
  • Language. TikTok says content that feels natural in a local language can lift engagement and results, so Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin or Tamil videos aimed at a clear audience often beat generic English ones.
  • Trust. Shop commission only arrives when people buy, so honest reviews build income over time.
  • Format. LIVE selling sessions let you answer questions in real time, which helps people decide.

Other ways TikTok can pay you in Malaysia

LIVE Gifts and Diamonds

You must be 18 or the age of majority to go LIVE. Viewers send Gifts, you collect Diamonds, and TikTok converts them at its own rate. TikTok's Going LIVE guide says rewards go to an external bank or PayPal account depending on region.

Subscription

You choose a monthly price and TikTok says you keep 70% of revenue after app store fees, with a possible 20% bonus for eligible creators. Fans pay in their local currency.

Brand deals

Malaysian brands often pay creators directly for content, and TikTok One lists brand campaigns too. Shop sales data makes a very persuasive pitch.

Getting paid in Malaysian ringgit

The Malaysian ringgit, code MYR, is issued by the Central Bank of Malaysia. TikTok says the currency of your final payout depends on the payment method you select. Before any payout date shows, you'll need a payment method, tax information and verified identity in the Balance section. A minimum payout threshold may apply, and you can adjust it, while the maximum varies by region.

TikTok notes that rewards may be taxable and that it can't give personal tax advice. Ask a Malaysian tax adviser about your own position.

A starter plan for selling on TikTok Shop in Malaysia

  1. Set up your affiliate profile in the app and browse products that match what you already post.
  2. Choose two or three products you'd happily recommend to a friend, and use them on camera first.
  3. Add the product link to your next video before you post it, as TikTok's own quick start suggests.
  4. Try a short LIVE session where you show the product and answer questions in the comments.
  5. Check which videos drove sales, not just views, and make more of those.

Give it a few weeks before you judge the results. Shop income builds as viewers learn to trust your picks, and one honest review that sells steadily is worth more than a dozen clips that only entertain.

The YouTube route for Malaysian creators

If you want ad money from views, YouTube is the platform that offers it in Malaysia. Malaysia is on both the YouTube Partner Program list and the expanded programme list, channel memberships are available, and Google's payment table shows checks and wire transfers for Malaysia. My guide to YouTube pay per 1,000 views in Malaysia covers it in full.

For a wider comparison, my page on TikTok earnings for South African creators shows how different things look in a market without TikTok Shop.

My honest take: in Malaysia, the creator who learns to sell on TikTok will out-earn the creator chasing views almost every time.
