As of October 2026, Spotify Premium in India costs ₹139 a month for Standard, ₹299 a month for Platinum (up to 3 accounts) and ₹69 a month for Student. New Premium users can get Standard at ₹139 for their first 2 months, and there's a prepaid option of ₹799 for a full year that doesn't auto-renew.
India doesn't get the Individual, Duo and Family line-up you'll see on Spotify's pages for the US or UK. Spotify's India page sells three plans with different names, and the cheapest way to pay isn't the monthly price at all. Every figure below comes from Spotify's own India Premium page, read in October 2026.
Spotify Premium plans in India at a glance
Prices in Indian rupees, as listed on spotify.com for India, as of October 2026.
| Plan | Price | Accounts | Audio quality |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | ₹139 per month | 1 Standard account | Very high, up to about 320 kbps |
| Standard prepaid | ₹799 for 1 year | 1 Standard account | Very high, up to about 320 kbps |
| Platinum | ₹299 per month | Up to 3 Platinum accounts | Lossless, up to about 24-bit/44.1 kHz |
| Student | ₹69 per month | 1 verified Standard account | Very high, up to about 320 kbps |
Spotify's India page lists only these plans. If you've been searching for a Spotify Premium Lite or a Family plan price in India, they don't appear on the page as of October 2026; the nearest thing to a shared plan is Platinum.
Premium Standard: ₹139 a month
Standard is the everyday plan for one person. Spotify lists ad-free listening, downloads for offline listening, very high audio quality up to about 320 kbps, and full control over what plays next: repeat songs, play albums in order and skip as many times as you want.
The current offer is ₹139 for 2 months, then ₹139 a month after that, so you effectively get your second month included. Spotify says it's only for people who haven't tried Premium before, and marks it as a limited-time offer with limited eligibility.
The prepaid year: ₹799 and no auto-renewal
This is the option that's easy to miss. Spotify lets you pay once in advance for Standard and top up when you want, with no auto-renewal. The listed price is ₹799 for 1 year, which Spotify works out as the equivalent of ₹66.59 a month, and it shows a saving of ₹869 against paying the monthly price for the same period.
| How you pay for Standard | What Spotify lists |
|---|---|
| Monthly subscription | ₹139 per month, cancel anytime |
| Prepaid year | ₹799 for 1 year, equivalent to ₹66.59 per month |
| Saving shown by Spotify | ₹869 compared with a monthly subscription for the same duration |
Spotify adds that the equivalent monthly price is a guide only and that prepaid prices apply. If you know you'll keep Premium for the year, prepaid is the cheapest way to pay for Standard on the page. If you're not sure, the monthly plan keeps you free to cancel.
Premium Platinum: ₹299 for up to 3 people
Platinum is Spotify's top plan in India and the only one on the page that covers more than one person. It's for up to 3 individuals living at the same address, and each gets a Platinum account. On top of everything in Standard, Spotify lists:
- Lossless audio quality, up to about 24-bit/44.1 kHz.
- Mix your playlists.
- Your personal AI DJ.
- AI playlist creation.
- Connecting your DJ software.
Split between three people at one address, Platinum costs less per person than three separate Standard plans. If you're on your own and care about sound quality or the AI features, it's the upgrade; if you just want ad-free music, Standard does the job.
Premium Student: ₹69 a month
Student gets you one verified Standard account with the same downloads and audio quality. The current offer is ₹69 for 2 months, then ₹69 a month. Spotify says it's reserved for students enrolled at an eligible accredited institution of higher education and isn't available to anyone who has already tried Premium. My guide to Spotify Premium Student covers how the verification works.
What Spotify's India page highlights with Premium
- Ad-free music listening on every plan.
- Downloads for offline listening, or let Offline Backup do it for you.
- Repeat songs, play albums in order and skip as many times as you want.
- Jam, marked as a Premium feature, to play any song with friends in real time.
- Watching videos where you listen with one tap, also marked Premium.
- Cancel anytime on the monthly plans.
The page also shows features such as daylist, Blend and your year-end Wrapped, but it doesn't mark those as Premium-only, so don't upgrade for them alone.

How India compares with other countries
India's plan names line up with Spotify's newer tiers rather than the classic Individual, Duo and Family set. If you're comparing what people pay elsewhere, the page I keep on what Spotify Premium costs in the US, UK, Australia and Canada uses the same method: every figure from Spotify's own country page.
Which plan should you pick?
| If you... | Pick |
|---|---|
| Listen alone and want ad-free music on your phone | Standard at ₹139 a month |
| Will definitely keep Premium for a year | Standard prepaid at ₹799 |
| Share a home with one or two others | Platinum at ₹299 |
| Want lossless sound or the AI DJ | Platinum |
| Are enrolled at an eligible college or university | Student at ₹69 |

My verdict
For most people in India, Standard is the plan, and the ₹799 prepaid year is the smartest way to pay for it if you're sure you'll stay. Choose Platinum only if you'll share it with people at your address or want lossless audio. Prices and offers change, so check Spotify's India page on the day you sign up.
