Most Rewardful alternatives handle the basics of SaaS affiliate tracking, so the real choice comes down to who each one's built for: founders launching fast, teams running several program types, or companies building a full partner channel. Check how cleanly each tool reads your Stripe subscriptions, then run a test signup before you invite a single affiliate.
What an affiliate program tool does for a SaaS founder
The UK Advertising Standards Authority describes affiliate marketing as performance-based: an affiliate gets a reward from a business for each new customer their marketing brings in. For a SaaS company that means tracking a click through to a trial, a subscription and every renewal after it, then working out who's owed what. That's the job these tools do.
Rewardful is one option for running this. If you're outgrowing it or want something different, the alternatives below all aim at affiliate tracking and management, but they differ a lot on who they're built for.
For SaaS founders who bill through Stripe
I've written this for SaaS founders who bill through Stripe and want to launch a referral or affiliate program without hiring a partner manager. If you're an enterprise with a dedicated partnerships team, a couple of these will still fit, but most of the list leans towards founders doing it themselves.

Four things to check with your Stripe account
- Does it read subscriptions, upgrades and refunds from Stripe automatically, or do you have to send events yourself?
- Can you reward recurring revenue for a set period, or only the first charge?
- How are payouts handled, and can affiliates see their own earnings without emailing you?
- Can you run customer referrals and affiliates side by side if you want both?
If any of these answers is no, it doesn't rule a tool out, but it tells you where the manual work will land. For a solo founder, that manual work is usually the thing that kills a program a few months in.
My advice for founders launching affiliates
Set up a test affiliate, sign up through their link with a real card, upgrade, then refund. If the tool records each step correctly, it'll cope with your real customers. If anything goes missing in that test, keep looking, because tracking errors are what turn affiliates against a program.
If you're still choosing how to bill, my Stripe and PayPal comparison covers the basics. Your affiliates will also need clear disclosure wording, so point them to my guide on how to label affiliate links.
Affiliate, referral or partner program?
These words get used loosely, but they mean different things for a SaaS business. A referral program usually rewards existing customers for bringing in people they know. An affiliate program rewards publishers, creators and bloggers who promote you to their own audience. A partner program goes further, with agencies, resellers and integration partners who may sell or implement your product.
Most founders start with one and add the others later, so it's worth picking a tool that can grow with you. If you're not sure which you need, look at where your best customers came from so far. If they came from other customers, start with referrals. If they came from content and reviews, start with affiliates.

Frequently asked questions
What should a SaaS founder look for in a Rewardful alternative?
Clean Stripe tracking first: subscriptions, upgrades, refunds and renewals. After that, check how payouts work, whether affiliates get their own dashboard, and whether you can run referrals alongside affiliates.
What is affiliate marketing, in plain terms?
The UK Advertising Standards Authority describes it as performance-based marketing where an affiliate is rewarded by a business for each new customer their marketing brings in. For SaaS, that reward is usually tied to subscription revenue.
Can I test tracking before inviting affiliates?
Yes, and you should. Create a test affiliate, sign up through the link, upgrade and refund, and check every step shows up correctly before you invite real partners.
Do I need a partner platform or a simple affiliate tool?
If you're a founder launching your first program, a simple affiliate tool is usually enough. Partner platforms make more sense once you're recruiting resellers, agencies and referral partners as a real channel.
Should affiliates earn on renewals as well as the first payment?
That's your call, but it's worth deciding before launch. Rewarding renewals for a set period keeps affiliates promoting you for longer, while first-payment-only rewards are simpler to manage. Make sure the tool you pick supports the model you choose.
Is this list ranked?
No. The tools are listed A to Z in no particular order, with one line each based on the vendor's own description.
