Link WhatsApp to Facebook (2026): Connect Your Page to WhatsApp Business

To link WhatsApp to Facebook, switch into your Facebook Page, open Settings and privacy, then Settings, click Linked accounts under Permissions, choose WhatsApp, enter your WhatsApp Business number and click Send WhatsApp code. As of Nov 2026, that Page connection is the one business link Facebook's Help describes, and disconnecting it pauses any ads that click to WhatsApp.

People search for this meaning several different things, and Facebook's Help Centre has a separate article for nearly each one. Here's how to tell which one you need, then the steps for the one that matters for a business.

What you're trying to doWhat Facebook's Help coversWhere it lives
Connect your business Page to WhatsAppLinking a Page to a WhatsApp Business account, confirmed with a code sent to WhatsAppPage Settings, Linked accounts, WhatsApp
Undo that connectionRemoving WhatsApp from the Page; ads that click to WhatsApp are pausedPage Settings, Linked accounts, WhatsApp, Remove
Add a button to your PageAdding an action button to the Page, which needs Facebook accessYour Page, Options, Add action button
Share your WhatsApp status to a Facebook storyA story-sharing feature that isn't available on computersThe phone apps, mobile browser and Facebook Lite
Show your WhatsApp number on MarketplaceAdding a WhatsApp number to your Marketplace profile, which isn't available in some locationsMarketplace

Only the first two connect a Page to WhatsApp. The action button is a general Page feature, and the story and Marketplace options are personal features that depend on where and how you use Facebook: status sharing isn't offered on computers, and the Marketplace number isn't available everywhere.

Connect a Facebook Page to WhatsApp Business

You need a WhatsApp Business account first, which is simply WhatsApp's account type for businesses. Setting one up is a separate job, covered in setting up WhatsApp Business through Meta. Then, as of Nov 2026, on a computer:

  1. Log in to Facebook, then click your profile photo in the top right.
  2. Click See all profiles, then select the Page you want to switch into.
  3. Click your Page's profile picture in the top right.
  4. Click Settings and privacy, then Settings.
  5. In the left menu under Permissions, click Linked accounts.
  6. Click WhatsApp.
  7. Select your country code and enter your WhatsApp Business number.
  8. Click Send WhatsApp code.
  9. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish connecting.

The step people miss is the second one. This is a Page setting, so you switch into the Page before you go anywhere near Settings. If you open Settings from your personal profile, you're looking at your profile's settings, not the Page's.

Have the phone with your WhatsApp Business number to hand before you start, because Facebook sends the code to WhatsApp.

What changes once your Page and WhatsApp are linked

Facebook's Help says updates made on Facebook will appear on WhatsApp. The field it singles out is business contact info.

Here's the catch. Facebook says people with task access to a Page can make changes to the Page's business contact info. If you've given a freelancer, an agency or a junior team member task access, they can change contact details that, once you're linked, show on WhatsApp too. Before you connect, it's worth a quick look at who has access to your Page.

Facebook's Page articles also point people with task access towards other tools such as Meta Business Suite. If your team answers messages from more than one app, the Meta Business Suite inbox is where that work tends to land. And if you're curious how all this looks from the other side, here's what customers see on a WhatsApp Business account.

Unlinking WhatsApp from your Facebook Page

Disconnecting starts the same way: switch into the Page, open Settings and privacy, then Settings, and click Linked accounts under Permissions. Then:

  1. Click WhatsApp.
  2. Click Remove.
  3. Click Remove again to confirm.

Facebook says the Page will then no longer be connected to WhatsApp, and any ads clicking to WhatsApp will be paused. If you're running ads that open a WhatsApp chat, unlinking stops them, so don't do it halfway through a campaign you care about.

Action buttons, stories and Marketplace numbers

Facebook's action button article says you need Facebook access to the Page to add a button; with task access only, you'd manage the Page from other tools such as Meta Business Suite. The steps, as of Nov 2026:

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

  1. Log in, click your profile photo, then See all profiles, and select the Page.
  2. Click your Page in the left menu.
  3. Click Options, then Add action button, or Edit action button if you already have one.
  4. Select a button, click Next and follow the instructions on screen.
  5. Click Save.

Sharing your WhatsApp status to a Facebook story is a personal feature. Facebook's Help says it isn't available on computers; it's offered through the iPhone app, the Android app, the mobile browser and Facebook Lite, with steps that vary by device. Adding a WhatsApp number to Marketplace has its own article too, and Facebook says that feature isn't available in some locations.

If WhatsApp is where your customers already talk to you, linking the Page is worth the five minutes it takes.

I'd start with the Page connection, done from inside the Page, with your WhatsApp Business phone in reach for the code. I'd check who has task access first, because they can change business contact info that then appears on WhatsApp. I'd skip unlinking while any click-to-WhatsApp ads are live, and skip the story and Marketplace options unless they suit how you sell personally.

If customers message you on more than one app, connecting the channels comes first, before any automation on top of them makes sense.
