Yes, Prezi has a free plan called Basic. Prezi lists it with 500 AI credits each month and public presentations, with no watermark on what you make. The catch is privacy: free presentations are public, and Prezi says PDF and PowerPoint export and private presentations need a paid plan.
Prezi is the presentation tool known for its zooming canvas instead of slide after slide. It's had a lot of AI added in recent years, and its free plan is one of the more usable ones among presentation tools. Before you build a client pitch on it, though, there's one setting you can't change on the free plan, and Prezi's own pages don't agree on one of the limits.
What Prezi Basic includes
Prezi's own write-up of free AI presentation tools lists the free plan as including:
- 500 AI credits
- Unlimited public presentations
- Full access to its designer themes
- Chat-based refinement of AI drafts
- Collaboration and shareable Prezi links
- No watermark or third-party branding on free output
Prezi's small-business pricing comparison lists Basic as including 500 AI credits per month and public presentations. Each AI action, such as generating or regenerating, uses credits, so a full deck plus a few rounds of changes will use more than one action.
The public catch
Free Prezi presentations are public. Prezi's comparison says private presentations, along with PDF and PowerPoint export, require a paid plan. Prezi's support article also says that downgrading to Basic means you'll lose privacy control.
That's fine for a talk you're happy to share, a classroom project, or a portfolio piece. It's not fine for a client proposal with prices, a sales deck with your strategy, or anything with personal data. If privacy matters, plan to upgrade before you build.
How many presentations can you make for free?
Here's where Prezi's own pages disagree. Its blog describes the free plan as offering unlimited public presentations. Its support article on managing a subscription says the free Basic licence allows anyone to create up to five presentations with the online editor. The blog is newer, but if you're planning to make lots of presentations, check the limit shown in your own account before relying on either.
Free vs paid Prezi at a glance
| Feature | Basic (free) | Paid plans |
|---|---|---|
| AI credits | 500 each month | Unlimited AI on Business Plus |
| Presentation privacy | Public | Privacy controls |
| PDF and PowerPoint export | No | Yes |
| PowerPoint import | Not listed | Yes on Business Plus |
| Watermark | None | None |
Prezi's pricing comparison lists its Business Plus plan with unlimited AI, PowerPoint import, PDF and SCORM export, recording and offline access, and a Teams plan with unlimited editors, licence management and privacy controls.
Who Prezi Basic suits
Prezi Basic is a good fit for teachers, students and speakers who want something more dynamic than a standard slide deck and are happy for it to be seen. It also suits anyone testing whether the zooming style works for their audience before paying. Because there's no watermark, a public talk or webinar deck made on the free plan looks the same as one made on a paid plan.
It's a weaker fit for business owners who pitch to clients. Sales decks often include prices, strategy and case studies you don't want indexed or shared, and you'll usually be asked for a PDF to send round afterwards. Neither is possible on Basic, so you'd end up rebuilding the deck elsewhere.
If you would rather make a video than a deck, see what Google Vids includes on a personal account.

How AI credits work on Prezi
Prezi says each AI action uses credits, such as generating a presentation or regenerating an image. The 500 monthly credits on Basic go a long way if you prompt carefully. Give the AI your audience, the goal of the talk and your key points in the first prompt, rather than generating a generic deck and fixing it piece by piece. Use the chat-based refinement for targeted changes, and edit text by hand where a quick fix is faster than a new generation.
How to get the most from Prezi Basic
- Sign up for a free account; Prezi says you can start without a credit card.
- Start from an AI draft or a designer theme.
- Write your outline before you prompt, so you spend fewer AI credits on regenerating.
- Keep anything confidential out of the presentation, because it's public.
- Present from the share link, since export to PDF or PowerPoint isn't on the free plan.
If you're upgrading later
Think about the way back down before you upgrade, because it's less simple than the way up. Prezi's support article says there isn't currently an option to downgrade an account through the website, so you'd contact support to do it, and moving back to Basic means losing privacy control. Prezi does offer a pause option on paid plans, which stops billing while keeping your data and features, and that can be a better choice than downgrading if you only present a few times a year.
Prezi or a different free tool?
If you need a private deck or a PowerPoint file at the end, another free tool may suit you better than Prezi Basic. My roundup of free presentation software compares the options, and my guide to the best AI presentation maker covers tools that build a deck from a prompt. If Gamma is on your shortlist, my page on Gamma alternatives sets out how they compare.
My verdict
Prezi is free, and the Basic plan is generous on AI and design with no watermark. Just remember that everything you make there is public and you can't export it. Use it for talks, lessons and anything you'd happily share; upgrade, or pick another tool, for client and sales work.
