CDKeys is a real digital games store that now trades as Loaded, and it says it has served players for over 10 years. The catch is in the terms: you're buying a licence, the phone and ID checks can delay an order, and refunds are discretionary and ruled out once a key has been redeemed.
CDKeys is one of the best-known names for cheaper digital game codes, which is exactly why people ask if it's legit. Here's the twist most searchers miss: if you go to cdkeys.com today, you land on a site called Loaded. I've read Loaded's own about page and terms so you know what you're agreeing to.
CDKeys is now Loaded
The about page says the store was formerly known as CDKeys and describes itself as a digital games store. It says the team has helped millions of players for over 10 years, and that it now offers more than 15,000 products across PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo. That includes memberships, gift cards, wallet top-ups and in-game currencies.
So if you're looking for CDKeys, you're really looking at Loaded, and if a site claims to be a different CDKeys, treat it with suspicion. The terms name the platform operator as This Game Technologies FZCO and say the seller of a product depends on the country you're buying from, so the name on your receipt may not be the name on the front page.
How CDKeys game keys are delivered
According to the terms, the platform allocates keys instantly and automatically. Once you pay and pass the security checks, the key is made available in your account and sent to your email address. The FAQ adds that pre-order keys are normally emailed on release day, and that a missing email is often sitting in spam or promotions.
One detail to take seriously: the terms say you're buying a licence to use the product, not taking ownership of it. They also say some products can be limited to your country of residence or to the account that bought them. Check the region and platform on the product page before you pay.
Phone checks, ID and VPNs on CDKeys
This surprises people. The terms say every buyer has to verify a phone number to access purchased products, and that Loaded may ask for a valid ID copy and may decline or refund any order it believes to be fraudulent. It says it uses location checks on the phone number and keeps that location data for 24 hours.
The terms also say that using a VPN, proxy, VoIP number or any other way of hiding your true location will lead to delays, a likely ID check and possible cancellation of the order. If you normally browse through a VPN, switch it off before you buy. Never try to dodge a region lock to get a lower price, since that's the kind of thing that can cost you the game.
Refunds on CDKeys purchases
Read this section slowly, because digital keys are hard to return. The terms say the product price isn't refundable as a general rule, and that refunds are discretionary and looked at individually. Games that have been played, or keys that have been redeemed, aren't eligible. Requests have to be made within 7 days of the key being delivered.
They also say that if a purchase is more than 120 days old, the refund can't go to the original payment method because of payment processor limits. The seller may offer the value as a gift card or in Koins instead. So the practical advice is to redeem and test your key soon after buying, and contact support quickly if there's a problem.

Do game publishers allow keys from stores like this?
A store being real doesn't settle whether a key will suit your account. Valve's Steam Subscriber Agreement says that if you order from an authorized reseller of Valve, you direct questions about the key to that reseller, and that Valve makes no representations or warranties about any third party site. I couldn't confirm whether Loaded is an authorized Valve reseller, so I won't claim that.

Fake CDKeys sites and key scams
Cheap game codes attract copycats. Type the address yourself, look at the spelling of the domain, and never pay a stranger who offers CDKeys codes through social media or a chat app by bank transfer or gift card. The terms say you shouldn't share your password with unaffiliated third parties, which is good advice at any shop. If a message asks you to log in through a link, go to the site directly instead.
My verdict on CDKeys
This is a real store, now branded Loaded, with a long track record by its own account and plain terms. It's also strict: ID and phone checks can slow an order, VPNs cause trouble and refunds are narrow. If you buy, do it on the official site, redeem the key soon, check the region and leave your VPN off.
