As of October 2026, Instagram pays out once a month when your balance reaches the minimum: $5 in the US, and outside the US $100 by wire transfer or $25 by any other payout method. Below the minimum, your balance carries over to the next payout until it gets there.
Those three figures come from Instagram's own help page on payouts. Here's which tools they apply to, when the payouts land, and the two rules that can cost you earnings if you leave the payout account for later.
The four tools that pay through Instagram
Instagram's payout page covers four monetization tools: Badges, Bonuses, Gifts and Subscriptions. It's only available for business and creator accounts. Brand deals through Creator Marketplace or partnership ads aren't on that list, because the brand pays you, not Instagram.
To receive payouts, Instagram says you must do three things:
- Meet Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies.
- Set up a payout account.
- Meet the minimum earnings threshold for the tool or bonus.
Your balance is pooled. If you use more than one tool, Instagram says your balance includes earnings from each, so Gifts and Subscriptions earnings count towards the same minimum.
Minimum balances by payout method
These are Instagram's figures as of October 2026. Instagram writes them in dollars, and I've left them exactly as written.
| Where you are and how you're paid | Minimum balance before a payout |
|---|---|
| In the US | $5 |
| Outside the US, by wire transfer | $100 |
| Outside the US, any other payout method | $25 |
Here's a specific worth knowing if you're outside the US: the payout method you pick changes the minimum. Wire transfer has the higher bar, so if you've got a choice and your balance is small, another method reaches the payout point sooner. If you're setting the account up for the first time, I've written up how to set up an Instagram payout account step by step.
When the payouts land
Bonuses run on their own schedule. Everything else is monthly.
| Tool | When it pays | Earnings covered |
|---|---|---|
| Bonuses | Around the 7th and 21st of every month | Two-week periods from the previous month |
| Badges, Gifts and Subscriptions | Around the 21st of every month | The whole previous month |
Instagram gives an example: bonus earnings from the first to the fourteenth of January are paid around 7 February, and earnings from the fifteenth to the end of January around 21 February. January earnings from the other tools are paid around 21 February. If you use Bonuses and other tools, you get a bonus-only payout on the 7th and a combined payout on the 21st.
Instagram also says some creators may be invited to test improvements, such as earlier payout dates. If that's you, the details will be in the tool itself.
The cap and the 6-month rule
This is the part that can cost you earnings you've already made, so read it twice. As of October 2026, Instagram says that without a payout account you can earn up to $500 per monetization tool, with a maximum of $1,500 across 3 tools. And if you haven't added a payout account within 6 months, you forfeit and waive all rights to receive those earnings.
Bonuses are stricter still. Instagram says that if you earn with bonuses, you must have a payout account set up before the bonus period ends. If you're waiting on an invite, I've covered who gets invited to Instagram bonuses separately.

Why a payout is late or rejected
Instagram lists the usual causes and the checks to run, as of October 2026.
- A recent change to your payout details. Updating your payout account puts it on a 5-day hold. Instagram says to make changes at least 10 days before the payment date, or the payout moves to the next cycle.
- Bank timing. Depending on your bank, payouts take 1 to 7 business days. International payouts can take up to 10 days to reach your bank or PayPal account.
- Below the minimum. The balance carries over until it reaches the threshold for your method.
- Suspicious or fraudulent activity. Instagram says payouts may be delayed or rejected when it detects this, and that there are other reasons it doesn't list.
If you still haven't been paid 7 business days after the payout date, Instagram's checklist is: ask your bank about the payout, check your payout account details are complete and accurate, and confirm you've reached the minimum. After that, you can request support inside the Instagram app.
Checking your payout status and paperwork
- Open your Professional dashboard.
- Select Tools, then Payouts, to confirm you've met the requirements for future payouts.
- Look at your earnings and payout history there, or in Payouts in Meta Business Suite.
- Download invoices and remittance statements from the past 2 to 3 months in your Payout settings.
Every pay period you'll get an emailed invoice, whatever you earned. You only get a remittance statement once a payout is made, meaning once you've reached the minimum in that period or across several. Country questions come up a lot here too, so I've written separate guides on whether Instagram pays in Nigeria and Instagram monetization in Pakistan.
My advice
I'd set the payout account up the day any tool turns on, even before you've earned anything. Skip waiting until a balance appears, because the $500-per-tool cap and the 6-month rule both count against you while the account is missing, and a bonus period can close before you've noticed. Then choose your payout method with the minimum in mind, and keep your details stable in the 10 days before the 21st. Instagram changes these rules from time to time, so glance at the Payouts screen whenever something looks off.
