How to Link Facebook to Instagram (Profile or Page, 2026)

To link Facebook to Instagram, open Accounts Center at accountscenter.facebook.com (or from your Instagram settings), choose Accounts, then Add accounts, and follow the prompts. Meta's help says you can only add one Facebook account to an Accounts Center. To connect a Facebook Page instead, you need a business or creator Instagram account.

Linking your Facebook and Instagram saves you posting the same thing twice, and if you run a business it also ties your Page and your Instagram profile together. There are two different things people mean by linking, though, and mixing them up is where most of the confusion starts.

I've followed Meta's own help pages for the steps below. Menus move around between app versions, so look for the same wording if your screen differs a little.

  • Accounts Center joins your personal Facebook and Instagram accounts so they can share things and work together.
  • A Page connection joins your professional Instagram account to a Facebook Page, which matters if you manage a business.

Pick the one that matches what you want. Most personal users want the first. Most business owners want the second, and many end up doing both.

Linking Facebook to Instagram through Accounts Center

Meta's Accounts Center help gives one set of steps that apply on a phone, tablet or computer:

  1. Go to Accounts Center at accountscenter.facebook.com.
  2. Tap or click Accounts or Manage accounts.
  3. Tap or click Add accounts and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you aren't logged in to the account you want to add on your phone, Meta says the email address or phone number from the account you're logged in to will be filled in for you. Check it's the right one before you carry on.

What to know before linking Facebook to Instagram in Accounts Center

  • Meta's help says you need at least two accounts to set up Accounts Center.
  • You can only add one Facebook account to your Accounts Center. To add a different one, you remove the current Facebook account first.
  • Removing an account also removes any profiles associated with it.

That one-Facebook-account limit surprises people who have a personal profile and a separate one for work. If that's you, decide which Facebook profile belongs with this Instagram account.

What changes once Facebook and Instagram are linked

Meta describes connected experiences as features you can turn on and off once accounts share an Accounts Center. The help article lists things like sharing posts, stories and reels between Instagram and Facebook, syncing profile pictures, and logging in with accounts.

The important word there is choose. Linking the accounts doesn't force you to switch every feature on. Go through the connected experiences and leave off anything you don't want, especially cross-posting if you keep your two audiences separate.

Login access between linked Facebook and Instagram accounts

There's one change worth a second look. Meta's help says that starting in early 2026, all accounts in the same Accounts Center will be able to log into each other by default. To keep that access, you can select Allow all accounts to log into each other under Connected experiences. To remove login access for an account, Meta says you can move it out of the Accounts Center.

If you share a device or a login with other people, think about this before you link. If your Instagram is also used by a team, my notes on switching off a business account on Instagram explain what changes when an account type changes.

Connecting a Facebook Page to your Instagram account

This is the route for businesses. Facebook's business help says to do it from the Instagram app:

  1. Go to your profile and tap Edit profile.
  2. Scroll to Public business information if you have a business account, or Profile information if you have a creator account.
  3. Tap Page, then tap Connect or create.
  4. Tap Continue, then Login to Facebook, then Continue to review your Facebook account.
  5. Choose the Page and tap Connect, or choose to create a new Facebook Page and follow the steps.

If you pick an existing Page, you may be asked to log in to your personal Facebook account to confirm it has access to that Page.

Requirements for linking a Facebook Page to Instagram

  • You need a business or creator Instagram account. Meta says a personal account is prompted to switch during linking.
  • Your Instagram account must be in the same business portfolio as the Page.
  • Only the right people can do this: the help says you need access to the Page, and the login step confirms it.

Setting up regular posts for your business afterwards? My guide to writing and scheduling an Instagram post for your business is a sensible next step once the two are connected.

The method depends on which link you made.

  1. For Accounts Center, go to accountscenter.facebook.com, tap or click Accounts or Manage accounts, then Remove next to the Facebook account. Any profiles associated with that account are removed too.
  2. For a Page, go to your Instagram profile, scroll to Public business information or Profile information, tap Page, then tap Disconnect Page.
  1. Check you're logged in to the right Facebook account, since only one can be added to Accounts Center.
  2. Make sure you're adding a second account type, because Accounts Center needs at least two accounts.
  3. For a Page, check your Instagram account is a business or creator account.
  4. Check the Instagram account and the Page are in the same business portfolio.
  5. Update the app and try again, as menus vary by app version.
  6. If it still fails, search Meta's Help Centre for the exact wording of the message you see.
