To cancel Hulu, open your Account page in a computer or mobile browser, select Cancel under Your Subscription, choose Continue to Cancel if you're offered a pause, then select Cancel Subscription. That only works if Hulu bills you directly; if you pay through Amazon, Apple, Roku, Spotify, Verizon or another partner, you cancel with them instead, as of October 2026.
Here's what trips people up. Cancelling doesn't delete your Hulu account, or the Disney account you use for other Disney products, and deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription. Delete first and you can lose the ability to cancel through the Hulu website or app while the charges carry on. So the order matters: cancel, then delete only if you want to.
Cancelling a Hulu-billed subscription step by step
- Go to your Account page on a computer or mobile browser.
- Select Cancel under Your Subscription.
- If Hulu offers you a pause, select Continue to Cancel.
- Select Cancel Subscription.
You'll know it's worked when your Account page reads Your subscription will be canceled, and Hulu emails a confirmation to the address on file. Keep that email for your records.
You carry on watching until the end of your current billing cycle and won't be charged again. Free trials work the same way, with one exception: a Hulu + Live TV free trial ends the moment you cancel.
If what you want is fewer add-ons or a cheaper plan, you don't need to cancel at all, because you can change plans and remove add-ons from the same Your Subscription section. To compare plans before you switch, Hulu's plans and prices are laid out side by side here.
Who bills you decides where you cancel
Check the Payment Information section of your Hulu Account page. It names your billing party, and if that's anyone other than Hulu, the cancel steps live with that company. Hulu's own help says viewers who pay through a third party may need to contact their billing partner directly.
| Your billing party | Where you cancel |
|---|---|
| Hulu | Your Hulu Account page in a browser |
| Apple, Google or Amazon | Apple Support, Google Play Help or Amazon Help |
| Disney+ (bundle you signed up for through Disney+) | Directly through Disney+ or Disney+ Support |
| HBO Max (Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max Bundle signed up through HBO Max) | Directly through HBO Max or HBO Max support |
| Comcast Xfinity, Kroger, Optimum, Roku, Spotify, T-Mobile or Verizon | That partner's own account or support |
One useful detail from Hulu's help pages: if you pay through Apple, Google or Amazon and don't want them billing you any more, you can cancel there and sign up directly at Hulu.com. Certain plan options aren't available to people billed through those partners, so moving to direct billing also opens up the full menu.
Cancelling a bundle when you had a subscription first
If you already had Disney+, ESPN+ or HBO Max before you upgraded to a bundle, the original subscription and the bundle behave separately.
- Cancel the original subscription and the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ Bundle carries on uninterrupted. Any credit you were getting towards the bundle's monthly price for ESPN+ stops.
- Cancel the bundle and your original Hulu, ESPN+ or third-party billed subscription continues at the then-current price and terms, billed by whoever you first signed up through, unless you cancel that separately too.
If you're weighing up whether a bundle is still worth keeping, here's what Disney+ costs on its own and in bundles.
Pausing Hulu instead of cancelling
Hulu-billed subscribers may be offered a pause during the cancel flow, and it's worth taking if you're only away for a while. You can pause for up to 12 weeks, and the pause starts on the first day of your next billing cycle, not the day you click.
- Visit your Account page.
- Find the Your Subscription section.
- Click Pause next to Pause Your Subscription at the bottom of that section.
- Set the duration, up to 12 weeks.
- Click Submit.
Your subscription restarts on its own when the pause ends and your card's charged monthly again. To come back early, select Restart Subscription next to Pause Scheduled, then Cancel Pause; you're billed straight away and can stream once the payment goes through. If you cancel while you're paused, you won't be charged.
Pausing isn't open to everyone. It's not available for annual subscribers, anyone billed by a third party other than Amazon and Roku, accounts on hold, gift card users or subscribers on a promotion.

Still being charged after you cancelled
Log in to your Account page on Hulu.com and look under Overview. The status there tells you what's going on.
| Status you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Your Next Charge | The account's still active. Follow the cancel steps again and look for the confirmation email. |
| Your subscription is about to cancel | You've cancelled. You keep access until the date shown, and your billing history explains the timing. |
| Renew your Hulu Subscription | This account's fully cancelled, so the charge may be coming from another Hulu account. |
If a partner bills you, some of this subscription information may not show on Hulu's page at all, so check with them.
Deleting your Hulu account after you cancel
Deleting permanently removes everything specific to Hulu, including all profiles, watch lists, privacy settings and marketing preferences. It doesn't affect other streaming services or your MyDisney account. Cancel first, including any bundle plan.
- Log in to Hulu.com through a computer or mobile browser.
- Select your Profile, then Account.
- Under Privacy and Settings, select Delete Account.
- Review the details of deleting your account and select Continue.
- Enter the 6-digit verification code Hulu emails you and select Continue.
- Read the final screen and select Delete.
If Delete Account is missing and Hulu bills you, you've still got an active subscription. Partner-billed subscribers will see the option, but deleting won't stop the partner's charges, and you'll lose access to Hulu immediately. Hulu-billed accounts keep access to the end of the billing period, and the deletion is processed after that. Deleted by mistake? Contact Hulu as soon as possible.
My verdict on cancelling Hulu
I'd check the billing party first, because it saves the most frustration: if it says anything other than Hulu, go straight to that company. If Hulu bills you and you only need a break, I'd pause for up to 12 weeks rather than cancel. I'd only delete the account if you're sure you won't be back, since a plain cancel lets you sign up again later with the same login. And if you're leaving Live TV for another live service, my YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV comparison is worth a read first.
Frequently asked questions
Can I cancel Hulu in the app?
Hulu's cancel steps are for your Account page in a computer or mobile browser. If a partner such as Apple or Roku bills you, you cancel with them.
Do I keep Hulu after I cancel?
Yes, until the end of your current billing cycle, and you won't be charged again. Hulu + Live TV free trials are the exception: they end immediately.
Does cancelling Hulu delete my account?
No. Cancelling stops payment; deleting is a separate step you take afterwards from Privacy and Settings on your Account page.
How long can I pause Hulu?
Up to 12 weeks, if Hulu, Amazon or Roku bills you and you're not on an annual plan, a gift card or a promotion.
Can I restart Hulu after cancelling?
Yes. You can sign up again using the same login information.
