Claude Code Courses (2026): What Anthropic Academy Offers and Where to Start

Anthropic's own course site, Anthropic Academy, lists four Claude Code courses as of October 2026: Claude Code 101, Claude Code in Action, Introduction to agent skills and Introduction to subagents. If you don't write code, I'd start with Claude 101 or Introduction to Claude Cowork instead, and move to Claude Code 101 once you've got a real project you want help with.

Plenty of third-party Claude Code courses exist too, but this page sticks to what Anthropic's academy lists. The descriptions below are the course pages' own words, reported as the page describes them, not reviews.

What Anthropic Academy lists for Claude Code

The academy is hosted on Skilljar, a separate course platform. When I checked its catalogue, these were the Claude Code courses and how each page describes itself:

CourseWhat the page says it coversWho it's for
Claude Code 101Using Claude Code effectively in your daily development workflowAnyone starting with Claude Code
Claude Code in ActionRunning long, hands-off sessions you can trust: steer, configure, automate and verifyPeople already using it day to day
Introduction to agent skillsBuilding, configuring and sharing Skills in Claude Code, from your first Skill to team distributionTeams with repeat procedures
Introduction to subagentsUsing and creating sub-agents to manage context, delegate tasks and keep the main conversation focusedPeople running bigger jobs

Notice the wording on Claude Code 101: daily development workflow. These courses are written with developers in mind. That doesn't rule you out, but it does mean the examples will lean towards software.

Which one I'd start with

If you've never used Claude Code, start with Claude Code 101. It's the foundation the other three build on. If you're already using it and the problem is trusting long sessions, Claude Code in Action is the one aimed at you. I'd leave skills and subagents until you've got a specific job in mind for them, because both are about scaling work you already understand.

Courses that suit business owners better

The same catalogue has courses that fit a non-developer more naturally than anything with Claude Code in the name:

  • Claude 101: the page says it covers using Claude for everyday work tasks and its core features.
  • Introduction to Claude Cowork: described as hands-on, working alongside Claude on your real files and projects.
  • AI Fluency for Small Businesses: aimed at small businesses building AI fluency to increase impact and efficiency.
  • AI Fluency: Framework and Foundations: collaborating with AI effectively, efficiently, ethically and safely.

Anthropic's learn page gives a little more detail on that last one. It teaches what the page calls the 4D framework: Delegation, Description, Discernment and Diligence, and it's listed as 14 lessons, 1 quiz and about 4 hours. The same page lists AI capabilities and limitations at 13 lessons and 3.5 hours, covering what large language models can and can't do. Those two are the closest thing in the catalogue to a grounding course for managers.

Courses to skip unless you build software

These sit on the same catalogue page but are for people building products on top of Claude, not using it:

  • Claude Platform 101 and Building with the Claude API, both about building with the API.
  • Introduction to Model Context Protocol, which builds MCP servers and clients from scratch in Python, and Model Context Protocol: Advanced Topics.
  • Claude with Amazon Bedrock, which the page says began as training for AWS employees, and Claude on Google Cloud.

If your work is marketing, operations or running a business, you can skip all six without missing anything you need.

Signing up: a Skilljar account, not a Claude one

The academy's FAQ answers the question most people have before clicking in. You don't need an Anthropic account to access the learning content. The courses are hosted on Skilljar and only need a Skilljar account. If you want to use Claude after the course, you'll need a separate Anthropic account at claude.ai, and to follow along with Claude Code itself you'll need a paid plan. Here's which Claude plans include Claude Code.

It's worth knowing what Skilljar tracks: course progress, lesson completion, quiz scores and time spent on materials. If you want your learning data deleted, the FAQ gives an Anthropic Academy support address to write to.

The lesson already inside VS Code

There's one piece of training many people already have and don't notice. After you sign in to the Claude Code extension in VS Code, a Learn Claude Code checklist appears. You work through each item by clicking Show me, or dismiss it. To bring it back later, untick Hide Onboarding in VS Code settings, under Extensions, then Claude Code. It's short, but it teaches inside the tool you'll be using.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

What the catalogue won't tell you

A course list can't tell you which course fits your actual work, and catalogues change, so check what's listed when you sign up. If you'd rather read than watch, my written Claude Code walkthrough for non-developers covers the first steps in plain English.

My honest view: I'd take Claude 101 first if you're new to Claude altogether, then Claude Code 101 with a real project open beside it. I'd skip the API, MCP and cloud courses unless you're building software. The fastest learning comes from using the tool on your own work the same week, not from finishing every module.

If you'd rather be taught live

Self-paced courses suit some people and lose others halfway. If your team learns better with someone in the room and your own business problems on the table, that's what Claude training for teams is for.

If your team would rather learn Claude Code hands-on with a business use in mind, that's the kind of AI training I run. I run AI training and workshops for teams, and help businesses with AI enablement and workflow automation, so the busywork runs itself and people get time back. Most of that work is with SaaS marketing teams and small businesses. Here's how we can work together.
