Not directly: Venmo's help centre lists PayPal as the only other app it can pay into, so there's no Venmo-to-Cash-App button. You can still move the money by going through your bank account, which is free but slower, or by an instant transfer to a debit card Cash App can use, which costs 1.75%.
I get why people want this. Half your friends are on Venmo, the other half swear by Cash App, and you're stuck in the middle. The good news is the money can get across. It just has to take the long way round, through a bank account or a card.
Why there's no direct transfer
Venmo is owned by PayPal, and the cross-app payments it supports are with PayPal accounts, found by phone number. Cash App belongs to a different company, Block, and the two don't share a network. There was a card-network route called Visa+ for PayPal and Venmo, but Venmo says it stopped being available for PayPal and Venmo transactions on February 19, 2026. So any guide promising a one-tap Venmo to Cash App transfer is out of date.
Route one: Venmo to your bank, then into Cash App (free)
- In Venmo, tap Transfer to bank and choose a standard transfer to your linked bank account.
- Wait for it to arrive; Venmo says standard transfers typically take 1-3 business days.
- In Cash App, make sure the same bank account is linked.
- Tap the Money tab, press Add money, choose the amount and pick that bank as the payment method.
- Confirm with your PIN or biometrics.
This costs nothing on the Venmo side and is the route I'd use whenever the money isn't urgent.
Route two: instant transfer to a debit card (fast, 1.75%)
Venmo can push money instantly to an eligible Visa, Mastercard or Discover debit card in your name, usually within 30 minutes, for 1.75% (minimum 0.25 dollar, maximum 25 dollars). The Cash App Card is a Visa debit card linked to your Cash App balance. Venmo says the only way to know whether a card works for instant transfers is to add it, so try adding your Cash App Card details as a transfer card in Venmo. If Venmo accepts it, an instant transfer to it lands in your Cash App balance.
If it doesn't accept the card, that isn't a fault: some cards don't take part in the instant services Venmo uses. Go back to route 1.
The two routes side by side
| Through your bank | Instant to a debit card | |
|---|---|---|
| Venmo fee | Free | 1.75% (min 0.25, max 25 dollars) |
| Speed | Typically 1-3 business days | Usually within 30 minutes (Venmo says typically within 30 minutes) |
| Works for everyone? | Yes, with a bank linked to both apps | Only if Venmo accepts the card |
| Best for | Anything that can wait | Urgent amounts |
The mistake that gets transfers declined
Venmo is strict about names. It says instant transfer declines can often be avoided by making sure the card or bank is registered in your own name and that your legal first and last name are on your Venmo account. Don't try to transfer to a friend's Cash App Card or a bank account in someone else's name. If you want to pay a friend who only uses Cash App, the cleanest option is to move the money to your own bank and pay them from Cash App yourself.
What about going the other way?
The same logic works in reverse: cash out from Cash App to your bank, then add money to Venmo from that bank. Each app has its own rules and fees for that leg, so check the amount before you confirm.
Before you move a large amount
- Check your Venmo transfer limits; verified accounts can move up to 5,000 dollars per transfer and 19,999.99 dollars a week to a bank.
- Link the same bank account to both apps so you aren't waiting on a new link to verify.
- Send a small amount first if it's the first time you're using a card or bank for this.
- Compare the instant fee with how soon you need the money; on large sums it caps at 25 dollars.
Limits matter here because a big balance can't always leave Venmo in one go. Venmo's bank transfer limits for verified accounts are 5,000 dollars per transfer and 19,999.99 dollars per rolling week; unverified accounts are capped at 999.99 dollars a week. If you're moving savings or business takings between apps, plan it over a few days.

Watch out for 'transfer helpers'
Because people search this question a lot, scammers answer it. You'll see offers to move your money for you, or apps claiming to bridge Venmo and Cash App, usually asking for your login or a payment first. Neither Venmo nor Cash App needs a middleman for this, and you should never share your password, PIN or a sign-in code with anyone. Do the two steps yourself in each app and you stay in control of the money the whole time.
My verdict
There's no shortcut, and I'd be wary of any site or person claiming otherwise, especially if they ask for your login. Use the free bank route by default and the instant card route only when time matters and the fee is worth it. If you're deciding which app to settle on, my PayPal vs Venmo comparison and my Cash App safety check will help.
Frequently asked questions
Can I transfer money from Venmo to Cash App directly?
No. Venmo supports payments to PayPal accounts, not Cash App. Move the money to your bank first, or try an instant transfer to your own Cash App Card if Venmo accepts it.
How long does it take to move money from Venmo to Cash App?
Through your bank, Venmo's standard transfer typically takes 1-3 business days, then adding it to Cash App from the bank. An instant transfer to an accepted debit card usually takes about 30 minutes.
Is it free to send money from Venmo to Cash App?
The bank route is free on Venmo's side. An instant transfer to a debit card costs 1.75%, with a minimum of 0.25 dollar and a maximum of 25 dollars.
Can I add my Cash App Card to Venmo?
You can try. Venmo says the only way to see whether a card works for instant transfers is to add it, and it must be in your own name.
Does Visa+ still let Venmo send to other apps?
No. Venmo says Visa+ stopped being available for PayPal and Venmo transactions on February 19, 2026.
