A vision board maker helps you collect images, words and goals on one digital board you can look at every day, as a wallpaper, a print or a shared page. Some are design tools with templates, some are visual workspaces and some are dedicated vision board apps. Ten options follow in no particular order.
A vision board turns a vague wish into something you can see. Business owners use one for the year ahead, teams use one for a shared goal and plenty of people set one as a phone wallpaper so it's the first thing they see.
The ten tools below cover design tools, workspaces and apps. They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the vendor's own website, read this week. If you're starting from scratch, my goal setting starter kit helps you decide what goes on the board.
Vision board makers compared
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website or store listing, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page says the tool, or a plan or version of it, is free or open source. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to try it, so check the vendor's page before you sign up.

Add the obstacle, not just the dream
The WOOP my life research site, based on twenty years of research in the science of motivation, says WOOP asks you to picture your wish and then imagine the obstacles inside yourself that could stop you, because naming those obstacles can help you reach the wish.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
That's the step most vision boards skip. They show the beach house, the business milestone or the marathon finish line, and nothing about the tired evenings or the habit that gets in the way. Add one small corner to your board: the obstacle you expect and what you'll do when it shows up. It turns a pretty picture into a plan.
Design tool, workspace or vision board app?
A design tool makes the board look beautiful. It's the best route if you want a print or a phone wallpaper.
A workspace lets your goals sit next to plans, notes and to-do lists, so the board connects to what you'll do this week.
A vision board app lives on your phone, which makes it easier to look at every morning without thinking about it.
Six questions before you build a vision board
- Which three goals matter most?
- What will each one look like when it's done?
- What's likely to get in the way?
- Where will you see the board every day?
- Is it just for you or for a team?
- When will you look at it again and update it?
Signs your vision board needs a reset
- You stopped noticing it. Move it somewhere new.
- There are too many goals. Keep three.
- The goals are vague. Add a sentence each.
- The obstacles are missing. Name one per goal.
Do you make a vision board maker? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.
My plain advice on vision boards that work
Keep it to three goals and make each one specific enough to picture. A board covered in thirty images feels inspiring for a day and then becomes wallpaper. Three clear goals, each with one image, one sentence and one obstacle you've planned for, will still mean something in six months.
If you like writing as well as pictures, my New Year journal prompts are a good companion to the board.
Frequently asked questions
What is a vision board maker?
It's a tool for collecting images, words and goals on one digital board you can look at every day.
Are vision board makers free?
Several have a free version or free templates. Check the free plan column above, then confirm on each vendor's site.
Do vision boards work?
Picturing a goal is a start. Research behind the WOOP method suggests also naming the obstacles that could stop you.
How many goals should a vision board have?
Fewer than you think. Three clear goals are easier to act on than a board full of images.
Can I make a vision board on my phone?
Yes. Dedicated apps and design tools let you build one on your phone and set it as a wallpaper.
Can a team make a vision board together?
Yes. Shared whiteboards and boards let everyone add images and ideas to one vision.
