Not by default. TikTok says your liked videos are hidden from your profile when you create an account. You can change it in Settings and privacy, then Privacy, then Liked videos, choosing Everyone (public accounts), Followers (private accounts) or Only you. The creator of each video can still see that you liked it.
There are two separate questions hiding in this one. Can people browse a list of everything you've liked? And can the person who made a video see that you liked it? The answers are different, and TikTok's own help pages cover both.
Your Liked videos tab: who can see it
Every TikTok profile has a Liked videos tab. TikTok says your liked videos are hidden from your profile by default when you create an account, so unless you've changed the setting, other people can't scroll through what you've liked.
If you've changed it before, or you're not sure, here are the options TikTok gives you:
| Setting | Who can see your liked videos | Available on |
|---|---|---|
| Everyone | Anyone who views your profile | Public accounts only |
| Followers | Your approved followers | Private accounts only |
| Only you | Just you | All accounts |
How to hide your liked videos on TikTok
- In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
- Tap the Menu button at the top.
- Tap Settings and privacy, then Privacy.
- Tap Liked videos and choose Only you.
That's it. The tab will still appear for you, but nobody else can open it.
Can the creator see that you liked their video?
Yes. Hiding your Liked videos tab doesn't hide individual likes. When you like a video, the creator can see it in their activity. TikTok's notifications page explains that creators can filter their Inbox by Likes and Favourites, alongside Comments, Add yours, and Mentions and tags. So your like is visible to the person who posted it, even if your list of likes is private.
If you don't want a creator to see your interest, don't like the video. Watching doesn't add you to their likes.
How to find the videos you've liked
- Tap Profile at the bottom.
- Tap the Liked videos tab.
If the tab is empty or won't load, TikTok suggests switching between wifi and mobile data, clearing the app's cache, restarting the app and your phone, and updating TikTok. It also says that liking videos too quickly can trigger an alert; if that happens, wait 24 hours before trying again.
How to unlike a video
Open the video and tap the like button again. TikTok says this removes your like. It also leaves your Liked videos list, so it won't show up for anyone who can see that tab.
What about the total likes on your profile?
The likes number on your profile is different. TikTok explains it's the total of likes from all your own posts that are currently on your profile. It's not the videos you've liked; it's the likes you've received. If you delete posts, or TikTok removes some for breaking its guidelines, that total can go down.
Liked videos versus watch history
Your likes and your watch history are separate. Hiding liked videos doesn't touch your watch history, which only you can see. If you want to find something you watched but didn't like, here's how to see your TikTok watch history.
Private account or public account: what changes
Your account type decides which options you see. On a public account, Liked videos can be set to Everyone or Only you. On a private account, it can be set to Followers or Only you, because only approved followers can see anything on your profile. If you switch from private to public, check the setting again, since the Followers option no longer applies.

Likes, Favourites and reposts compared
| Action | Can the creator see it? | Can your followers see it? |
|---|---|---|
| Like | Yes | Only if your Liked videos tab is visible to them |
| Favourite | It's in their Likes and Favourites filter | Depends on your profile privacy settings |
| Repost | Yes | Yes, it's shared with your followers |
If you want to keep an eye on a video without anyone seeing, none of these is fully private for the creator. Watching is the quiet option.
If your Liked videos tab is missing or empty
A missing or empty tab is usually a loading problem rather than a privacy one. TikTok's own fixes are to switch between wifi and mobile data, clear the app video cache, restart the app and your device, and make sure you're on the latest version of TikTok. If you deleted and reinstalled the app, sign back into the same account before assuming your likes are gone, since likes belong to your account rather than your phone.
Other privacy settings worth checking
- Who can view each post: public accounts can choose Everyone, Friends (followers you follow back) or Only you per post.
- Following: if you'd like fewer accounts in your feed, here's how to unfollow someone on TikTok.
- Reposts: reposting shares a video with your followers, so it's far more visible than a like. Here's how reposting works.
My take
Set Liked videos to Only you and forget about it. It's private by default for new accounts, but older accounts and anyone who has played with settings should check. Just remember the rule that catches people out: a private likes list doesn't make your likes invisible to the creator.
