An AI UI generator turns a prompt, sketch, screenshot or requirements document into app or web screens you can edit, and some go on to produce prototypes or working code. A few work inside tools designers already use, and others are built for founders with no design background. Nine options follow in no particular order.
Every product starts as a picture in someone's head. Getting that picture onto a screen used to need a designer, a week and several rounds of feedback.
AI UI generators shrink the first round to minutes. The nine below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the vendor's own website, read this week. If you need a whole site rather than screens, my guide to free AI website builders for beginners is a better fit.
AI UI generators at a glance
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site says the tool, or a plan or version of it, is free or open source. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to try it, so check the vendor's page before you sign up.

Nine AI UI generators
Figma Make
Best for: Product teams already working in the same design tool who want AI to create layouts and prototypes from a prompt.
Framer
Best for: Designers who want a free website builder with an AI design agent, a visual canvas and hosting in one place.
Motiff
Best for: Designers who want production-ready UI generated from text, a wireframe, a screenshot or a product requirements document.
Polymet
Best for: Teams that want an AI product designer to create pages and components that follow their own design system.
Relume
Best for: Web designers and agencies who want AI to plan a marketing site's sitemap and wireframes before they build it.
Stitch
Best for: Founders and developers who'd like to try an AI design tool from Google for quick interface ideas.
Uizard
Best for: Non-designers who want to generate screens and themes, or turn screenshots and sketches into editable mockups.
UX Pilot
Best for: UX designers who want app designs and working prototypes generated fast, with components that keep work consistent.
v0
Best for: Developers who want working web apps and components generated from a prompt and published as live sites.
Which generator for which starting point
- Prompting inside your design tool: Figma Make.
- Designing and publishing a website: Framer.
- Text, wireframe or screenshot to UI: Motiff or Uizard.
- Following your own design system: Polymet.
- Planning a marketing site: Relume.
- Quick ideas from Google: Stitch.
- Fast prototypes for UX work: UX Pilot.
- Working code from a prompt: v0.
Check the contrast before you ship
The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative's guidance on WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.3 says text should have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background, with large-scale text allowed a ratio of at least 3:1. The W3C's guidance adds that these are thresholds, so a computed 4.499:1 would not meet 4.5:1.
Generated screens often look clean because they use soft greys, and soft greys are exactly what fails a contrast check. Run every screen through a contrast checker before it reaches developers. It's a two-minute job that saves a redesign later.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Screens, prototype or working code?
Screen generators are for early ideas and stakeholder reviews. You get mockups to talk around, not a finished product.
Prototype tools link screens together so people can click through a journey, which is what user testing needs.
Code generators produce components or whole apps. They're fastest for developers, as long as someone reviews the code and the accessibility of what comes out.
Six questions to ask an AI UI tool
- Can it follow your existing colours, fonts and components?
- Does it export to the design tool your team uses?
- Can you edit every layer, or only regenerate?
- Does it produce code, and in which framework?
- How well does it handle mobile and desktop sizes?
- Who owns the designs and code it produces?
Signs it's time to try an AI UI tool
- Ideas wait weeks for mockups. Generate a first draft.
- Stakeholders can't picture the feature. Show a screen.
- Developers rebuild designs by hand. Try code output.
- Screens drift from your style. Load your design system.

My plain advice on AI UI generators
Give two tools the same short brief, one screen and one user goal, and compare what comes back. Then ask a real user to find one thing on each screen. The tool whose screen gets used fastest is the one to keep, whatever looks prettier.
AI is changing the job rather than removing it. My piece on the benefits of working with a UI designer explains what a person still adds.
Frequently asked questions
What is an AI UI generator?
It's a tool that creates app or web interface designs from a prompt, sketch, screenshot or requirements document, ready for you to edit or turn into a prototype.
Are AI UI generators free?
Some name a free plan or a free starting tier. Check the free plan column above and confirm on each vendor's site before you build anything big.
Can AI UI generators write code?
Some do. A few generate components or whole working apps, while others stop at designs you hand to a developer.
Are AI-generated designs accessible?
Not automatically. Check colour contrast against WCAG 2.2, which asks for at least 4.5:1 for normal text, and test with real users.
Will an AI UI generator replace a designer?
It speeds up early ideas and first drafts. Designers still decide what the product should do, test it with people and keep it consistent.
Can I use my own design system?
Some tools can follow your components, colours and fonts. It's worth checking before you choose, because it saves rework later.
