An AI sales assistant takes on the admin around selling: recording and summarizing calls, updating the CRM, researching buyers, drafting follow-ups and suggesting the next step on a deal. Some also coach your emails or find new leads. Ten tools follow in no particular order, most of them from smaller, focused companies.
Most founders and small sales teams don't lose deals because they can't sell. They lose them because the follow-up email went out two days late, the call notes never reached the CRM, or nobody remembered what the buyer said about timing. That's the gap an AI sales assistant fills.
The ten tools below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the tool's own website, read this week. Some focus on meetings, some on email, some on research and some on outbound calling. If you want a wider look at automating the chase, my guide to AI automation for sales follow-up covers the workflow side.
AI sales assistants compared
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version, a free account or free use. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the tool's own site before you sign up.

The consent rules an AI can't write around
An AI assistant can draft a hundred personalised emails in a minute. That doesn't change who you're allowed to send them to. The Information Commissioner's Office says you must not send marketing emails or texts to individuals without specific consent, with a limited soft opt-in for your own previous customers. Marketing emails to companies are allowed, though it's good practice to keep a list of any that object.
So if you sell to sole traders or consumers in the UK, check your consent before you let an AI loose on outreach. Selling to companies gives you more room, but the same respect for an unsubscribe applies.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Firms that sell by phone can compare legal answering services too.
What to automate first
- Call notes and summaries, because they're the first thing to slip on a busy day.
- CRM updates after every meeting, so the pipeline reflects reality.
- A first draft of every follow-up email, which you edit before it goes.
- Research on a buyer before a call, so you open with something specific.
- Reminders when a deal goes quiet.
A small team that misses calls will find HVAC answering services useful.
Keeping the human part human
Buyers can spot a generic AI email in a sentence. Use the assistant for the admin and the first draft, then add the line only you could write: the thing they said on the last call, the problem you noticed on their website, the reason you think you're a fit. That's what gets a reply.
And tell people when a call is being recorded. A notetaker that turns up unannounced can lose you more trust than the notes are worth.
Do you make AI sales assistants or sales tools? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.
My plain advice on choosing a sales assistant
Start with the single task your team hates most, usually call notes or follow-ups, and pick the tool that does that well. Don't buy a platform with twenty features you won't switch on. Then keep a human eye on every email before it leaves, and check your consent rules before you scale outreach.
If call recording is where you're starting, read my piece on what AI notetakers are doing to your sales calls before you switch one on.

Frequently asked questions
What is an AI sales assistant?
It's a tool that handles sales admin such as call notes, CRM updates, buyer research and follow-up emails, and some suggest the next step on each deal.
Can an AI sales assistant send emails for me?
Some can draft and send, but you should read every email first. In the UK, the ICO says marketing emails to individuals need specific consent.
Do AI sales assistants work with my CRM?
Many do. Several tools here push meeting notes and deal updates into your CRM automatically, so check the integrations on each tool's own site.
Is there a free AI sales assistant?
A few tools here name a free plan or free use, and others offer a trial, so check the free plan column before you sign up.
Should I tell people a sales call is recorded?
Yes. Tell everyone on the call before an AI notetaker starts recording, because it protects trust as well as keeping you on the right side of the rules.
