Apple Creator Studio is Apple's subscription bundle for its creative apps: Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro, plus Motion, Compressor and MainStage, with premium content and AI features in Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform. As of October 2026, Apple lists it at $12.99 per month or $129 per year after a one-month free trial for new subscribers, and Family Sharing lets up to five other people use it.
The part most people skim past is what you're paying for in the productivity apps. Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform stay free for everyone. The subscription adds premium templates, a library of royalty-free photos and graphics, and the intelligence features on top. So if you only ever open Pages, you don't need Creator Studio to keep using it. Everything below comes from Apple's own Creator Studio page, read in October 2026.
The apps you get in one subscription
| App | What it's for | Where it runs |
|---|---|---|
| Final Cut Pro | Video editing | Mac and iPad |
| Final Cut Camera | Shooting footage with full manual control | iPhone |
| Motion and Compressor | Motion graphics and custom export settings | Mac |
| Logic Pro | Music production, mixing and mastering | Mac and iPad |
| MainStage | Music, alongside Logic Pro | Mac |
| Pixelmator Pro | Image editing and graphic design | Mac and iPad |
| Keynote, Pages, Numbers, Freeform | Premium templates, Content Hub media and AI features | Free apps, with extras added by the subscription |
You download every app in the bundle from the App Store. Subscribing needs an Apple Account and an internet connection.
Apple's listed prices and trials, as of October 2026
| Offer | Free period | After the free trial |
|---|---|---|
| New subscriber | 1 month free | $12.99 per month or $129 per year |
| Students and educators | Free trial | $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year |
| New devices | 3 months free | Comes with an iPad or Mac purchase |
These are the figures Apple prints in US dollars on its Creator Studio page, as of October 2026. Each offer carries a footnote there, so read the conditions on Apple's page before you start a trial.
Sharing it with your family
A standard Creator Studio subscription can be shared with up to five other family members through Family Sharing. That's the detail that changes the maths for a household with more than one person editing video or making music.
The student and educator subscription works differently. It's for individual use and can't be shared through Family Sharing, so a family on the cheaper student plan doesn't get the same reach.
What Final Cut Pro brings to the bundle
Final Cut Pro runs on Mac and iPad, and Apple pairs it with Final Cut Camera on iPhone, so you can shoot on your phone and edit on the bigger screen. The features Apple highlights:
- Visual Search and Transcript Search to find a shot without scrubbing through footage, or a sound bite from a few keywords.
- The Magnetic Timeline, which lets you move and trim clips while keeping everything in sync, with Connected Clips, Multicam for interviews and Auditions for picking the best take.
- Beat Detection, which matches your edits to the rhythm of your music.
- Motion graphics through Motion, or from third-party providers such as MotionVFX and FxFactory.
- Batch export optimised for any screen size, with Compressor for custom pro export settings.
If you're weighing it against Adobe, I've compared Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro in more depth.
Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro in a nutshell
Logic Pro is the music side. Apple's headline feature is AI Session Players, a virtual band that lays down synth, bass, keyboard and drums and adapts to your style in real time. You also get Stem Splitter and Mastering Assistant for finishing a track, Step Sequencer for building beats, and a Sound Library with thousands of royalty-free loops, samples and patches. Voice Memos recordings from your iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch can go straight into Logic Pro.
Pixelmator Pro covers images and design. Intelligent tools handle background removal, image repair, detail enhancement and colour adjustment. Layers are nondestructive, so every change can be reversed, and there are templates and mock-ups for social media and print. On iPad it's built for touch and works with Apple Pencil.
The extras inside Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform
- Keynote can turn an outline into a slide deck with presenter notes, generate notes for any slide (in beta), and fix layout, typography and alignment in one tap.
- Content Hub gives you Apple-curated photos, illustrations, graphics and backgrounds inside all four apps.
- Image tools let you make and remix images, upscale them with Super Resolution and get Auto Crop suggestions.
- Numbers gets Magic Fill, which suggests contents or formulas for empty cells based on patterns in nearby data.
Apple says these intelligence features are exclusive to subscribers and come with their own system requirements and usage limits, which it lists on a separate support page.
The catch: what happens if you cancel
This is the question to settle before you build your work around a subscription. Here's what Apple says:
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
- Projects in Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro stay on your devices, and you can copy or share them. But to open or edit one, you need to be an active subscriber.
- Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform documents stay unchanged and editable, but you can't make new edits using the paid features.
- Everything you create with an active subscription, including images you generate or add from the Content Hub, stays licensed in the context of your original creation.
In plain terms: your Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro project files don't vanish, but you can't work on them in the subscription apps once you stop paying.
If you already own Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro
You can keep using them. If you already own Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, MainStage, Motion or Compressor, Apple says you can carry on with those versions, and the standalone Mac apps are still available as a one-time purchase and redownload from the App Store. If you're still deciding whether to pay at all, I've covered whether Final Cut Pro is free and how the Logic Pro free trial works.
What you need to run it
Apple says full functionality needs macOS 26, iPadOS 26 and iOS 26 or later. The individual apps vary:
- Final Cut Pro needs a Mac with macOS 15.6 or later, or an iPad with an M1 chip or later, iPad (A16) or iPad mini (A17 Pro) on iPadOS 18.6 or later.
- Logic Pro needs a Mac with Apple silicon on macOS 15.6 or later, or an iPad with an A12 Bionic chip or later on iPadOS 26 or later.
- Pixelmator Pro needs macOS 26 or later on Mac, or iPadOS 26 or later on the same iPads as Final Cut Pro.
- Motion, Compressor and MainStage need macOS 15.6 or later. Some Compressor features need Apple silicon.
My verdict
Creator Studio makes most sense if you use two or more of these apps, or if you'd share it with family through Family Sharing. If you only edit video and already own Final Cut Pro, you don't need it: your copy keeps working. Before you commit, check two things: that your Mac or iPad meets the requirements above, and that you're happy your Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro projects can only be opened again while you're subscribed. Start with the free month and see which apps you open.
