Adobe Firefly Prompts: Copy and Paste Ideas for Images and Video

Adobe Firefly is the AI tool I point small business owners to when they're nervous about where AI images come from. Adobe says its Firefly models are trained on licensed content from Adobe Stock and public domain content where copyright has expired, and that Firefly outputs include Content Credentials showing AI was used. It also covers more than pictures: Adobe says you can make and edit images, videos, audio and vector graphics from text prompts.

One of Adobe's own tips shapes every prompt here: leave out words like "generate" or "create" and just describe the thing you want, with a subject, a few descriptors and some keywords. Copy a prompt, swap the [brackets] for your details and paste it into Firefly. Use your own product photos as references, and keep real people, celebrities, other brands' logos and famous characters out of your prompts.

Adobe says Firefly can make vector graphics, which suit icons and patterns you'll want to resize. Treat logo results as rough ideas to refine, and check nothing resembles an existing brand.

How to get better results from Adobe Firefly prompts

• Use at least three words. Adobe's own help suggests that as a minimum, and a short phrase gives Firefly more to go on than a single word.
• Skip "generate" and "create". Adobe advises against them; just describe the subject, then add descriptors and keywords.
• Keep the language simple and direct. Name the subject first, then the setting, light, mood and style.
• If a result misses, reword rather than repeat. Adobe suggests rephrasing the prompt to move closer to what you want.
• Ask for empty space when you'll add text later, and name the shape you need, such as square or wide banner.
• Keep the Content Credentials on your files. They show AI was involved, which is the honest way to share AI images with customers.
