WordPress Coupon Plugins (2026): 10 for WooCommerce Stores

A WordPress coupon plugin gives a WooCommerce store more ways to create and apply discounts than the built-in coupon codes. Some apply coupons automatically or through a link, some make gift vouchers or coupon lists, and one runs an affiliate scheme around coupons. Ten plugins follow, in no particular order, with installs and ratings from the WordPress.org plugin directory, as of Oct 2026.

A coupon plugin is about what happens around a discount code: rules for who gets it, coupons that apply themselves, links that carry a code, and ways to show shoppers what's on offer. WooCommerce already has coupon codes, so you only need one of these when the basics stop being enough.

Most of these plugins work inside WooCommerce, and a couple use coupons to do something else, such as gift cards or email sign-ups. They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and each description comes from the plugin's own WordPress.org listing. If you're building your store's toolkit, my list of WordPress plugins worth having covers the rest.

How the ten coupon plugins were chosen

Every plugin here is listed in the WordPress.org plugin directory, and that listing is where the active installs band, the rating out of 5, the number of ratings, the publisher and the last updated date come from, as of Oct 2026. Discount rule builders sit next to auto-apply tools, coupon links, PDF vouchers and coupon lists, because each one changes how shoppers find and use a discount. The free plan column says Yes only where the listing itself names a free version or free use. Not stated means it didn't, so read the listing before you install.

The coupon plugins here split into a few camps. Rule builders decide who gets which discount. Auto-apply and URL tools take the code out of the shopper's hands. Voucher tools turn coupons into PDFs you can sell or send. And a couple use coupons for something else entirely, such as affiliates or email sign-ups.

Which coupon plugin type for which store

  • Buy one get one deals or store credit: a coupon rules plugin.
  • Shoppers who forget to enter the code: an auto-apply plugin.
  • Discounts in emails and social posts: a URL coupon plugin, so the link carries the code.
  • Gift cards for the holidays: a PDF voucher plugin.
  • Partners and influencers who promote you: a coupon-based affiliate plugin.
  • Growing your email list: a coupon box that swaps a discount for a sign-up.

30,000+ installs and 3 ratings

Power Coupons for WooCommerce shows 30,000+ active installs and a 5.0 rating, but that perfect score comes from just 3 ratings in the WordPress.org plugin directory, as of Oct 2026. Smart Coupons for WooCommerce sits in the same 30,000+ band with a 4.7 rating on 133 ratings.

So the two most installed plugins on this list have very different amounts of evidence behind their scores. A 5.0 from three people is a promising start, not a track record, so look at the support forum and the last updated date as well.

Running coupons that don't eat your margins

  1. Set an end date on every coupon, so old codes don't keep circulating.
  2. Limit each code to one use per customer where you can.
  3. Track which coupons get used, and drop the ones that don't move sales.
  4. Try the coupon in a real checkout before you announce it.

My plain advice on coupon plugins

Start with the problem. If shoppers forget codes, apply them automatically or by link. If you need more complex deals, use a rules plugin. If you want to sell gift cards, use a voucher tool. Then check the rating count and the last updated date, because a perfect score from a handful of people tells you very little.

Every plugin you add is one more thing to keep updated, so it's worth reading my take on plugin benefits and drawbacks before you add another to your store.

Frequently asked questions

Does WooCommerce need a coupon plugin?

Not for basic codes, because WooCommerce has coupons built in. A plugin helps when you want auto-apply coupons, coupon links, gift vouchers or more detailed rules.

Can a coupon apply automatically in WooCommerce?

Yes. Several plugins here apply coupons automatically, either from rules you set or from a link the shopper clicks.

Can I sell gift cards with a WordPress coupon plugin?

Yes. One plugin here designs gift cards, vouchers and coupons as PDFs that you can sell and send by email.

Are WordPress coupon plugins free?

Four listings here name a free plugin or free use, as of Oct 2026, and the rest don't say either way. Check the free plan column before you install.

Can affiliates have their own coupon codes?

Yes. One plugin here gives each affiliate a coupon and a dashboard showing how it's being used.
