AI Bald Filters (2026): 10 Tools to Try a Bald Look

An AI bald filter takes a photo of a face and shows the same person with no hair, for a prank or a preview before you shave it all off. Some run in a browser and some are phone apps, and a few are much older than others. Ten tools follow in no particular order, with what each page says about sign-up.

Bald filters are mostly for fun. People use them to prank a friend, to see what a partner would look like with a shaved head, or to check whether the look works before reaching for the clippers. These are entertainment tools, not a forecast of anything.

The ten below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order. Each description comes from the tool's own website or its App Store listing. If the bald picture is heading for your Stories, my ideas for fun prank Instagram Stories will give you a few more.

Bald filter apps and web tools side by side

The free plan column comes from each tool's own website or App Store listing, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names free use. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the page didn't name a free plan. Most of the apps here are free to download, so look at the in-app options before you rely on one.

Ten ways to see yourself without hair

AI Bald Camera Photo Editor

Best for: Trying several different bald styles on one photo from your iPhone, using a camera app made for the bald look.

AI Face Magic

Best for: A bald result in about five seconds, from an iPhone app that can also show you an aged version of your face.

Bald Me Booth

Best for: Giving anyone in any photo a bald head from an iPhone app, as long as you don't mind an older listing.

BaldBooth

Best for: Making friends bald in a photo for a laugh, from an older bald-photo app that's still on the App Store.

Dzine

Best for: Realistic skin and head shape in a browser, from a bald filter that sits inside a wider AI design suite.

FaceApp

Best for: Realistic edits on selfies, with hair and age filters together in one well-known photo editing app.

FaceLab

Best for: Switching between age, hair and beard filters in one app when the bald look is only one of the things you want to try.

Hair AI

Best for: Comparing hairstyles and bald looks on the same selfie before you decide what to ask for at the barber's.

PrankAI

Best for: Pranking friends with a bald photo in seconds, from a web app built for pranks that runs on credits.

VEED

Best for: Seeing a bald preview and then editing it into a video, from a filter inside an online video editor.

Free with no sign-up, or an account and credits

'Free, no sign-up' and 'needs an account and credits' sit side by side in this category. Dzine's page title promises a free bald filter without signing up, while PrankAI's own FAQ says you need an account and credits.

So read the small print before you upload anything. A tool that wants an account has your email address as well as your photo, so decide whether a quick laugh is worth that.

Some bald apps haven't changed in years

Two apps that still turn up for 'bald filter' are very old. BaldBooth's App Store listing was last updated on 27 Sep 2016, and Bald Me Booth's on 8 Jan 2020.

An old listing doesn't mean the app won't open, but it's worth reading recent reviews on the store and checking it still works on your phone before you get a friend to pose for it.

Whose face are you uploading?

The Information Commissioner's Office quotes the UK GDPR definition: personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. A photo of a face is personal data the moment it can identify someone.

That matters more with a prank tool than most, because the whole point is often someone else's head. Only upload your own photo, or a friend's with their say-so, and check what the tool does with the picture. A joke that ends up stored on a server somewhere stops being funny quite quickly.

Going the other way, AI beard generators let you add facial hair instead of taking hair away.

Getting a bald preview that looks right

  1. Use a clear, front-facing photo in good light, with your hair pulled back off your face.
  2. Try a web tool and an app with the same photo and compare them side by side.
  3. Check the ears and the back of the head, as that's where an edit is easiest to spot.
  4. Delete the photo from the app when you're done, if it gives you the option.
  5. Ask before you share a bald version of anyone else.

Plain advice before you go bald on camera

Pick by where you are. On a laptop, a browser tool is quickest. On your phone, an app saves the faff of moving pictures about. Either way, read what the page says about sign-up and credits first, upload only faces you have permission to use, and enjoy the result as a bit of fun.

If you'd like more quick looks you can share straight away, my guide to Snapchat filters walks you through them.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI bald filter?

It's a tool that edits a photo so the person in it looks bald. It's meant for fun and previews, not a forecast of anything.

Is there a free AI bald filter with no sign-up?

Some web tools say so on their own page, while others need an account and credits, so check the free plan column and read the sign-up terms first.

Can I use a bald filter on a friend's photo?

Only with their say-so. A photo of a face is personal data once it can identify someone, according to the ICO's guidance.

Do bald filter apps work on iPhone?

Several tools here are iPhone apps with App Store listings, and others run in a browser on any phone or computer.

Is a bald filter accurate?

Treat it as a preview for fun. It's an edit of one photo, so the lighting, the angle and the tool itself all change how it looks.
