An AI bald filter takes a photo of a face and shows the same person with no hair, for a prank or a preview before you shave it all off. Some run in a browser and some are phone apps, and a few are much older than others. Ten tools follow in no particular order, with what each page says about sign-up.
Bald filters are mostly for fun. People use them to prank a friend, to see what a partner would look like with a shaved head, or to check whether the look works before reaching for the clippers. These are entertainment tools, not a forecast of anything.
The ten below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order. Each description comes from the tool's own website or its App Store listing. If the bald picture is heading for your Stories, my ideas for fun prank Instagram Stories will give you a few more.
Bald filter apps and web tools side by side
The free plan column comes from each tool's own website or App Store listing, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names free use. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the page didn't name a free plan. Most of the apps here are free to download, so look at the in-app options before you rely on one.

Free with no sign-up, or an account and credits
'Free, no sign-up' and 'needs an account and credits' sit side by side in this category. Dzine's page title promises a free bald filter without signing up, while PrankAI's own FAQ says you need an account and credits.
So read the small print before you upload anything. A tool that wants an account has your email address as well as your photo, so decide whether a quick laugh is worth that.

Some bald apps haven't changed in years
Two apps that still turn up for 'bald filter' are very old. BaldBooth's App Store listing was last updated on 27 Sep 2016, and Bald Me Booth's on 8 Jan 2020.
An old listing doesn't mean the app won't open, but it's worth reading recent reviews on the store and checking it still works on your phone before you get a friend to pose for it.
Whose face are you uploading?
The Information Commissioner's Office quotes the UK GDPR definition: personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. A photo of a face is personal data the moment it can identify someone.
That matters more with a prank tool than most, because the whole point is often someone else's head. Only upload your own photo, or a friend's with their say-so, and check what the tool does with the picture. A joke that ends up stored on a server somewhere stops being funny quite quickly.
Getting a bald preview that looks right
- Use a clear, front-facing photo in good light, with your hair pulled back off your face.
- Try a web tool and an app with the same photo and compare them side by side.
- Check the ears and the back of the head, as that's where an edit is easiest to spot.
- Delete the photo from the app when you're done, if it gives you the option.
- Ask before you share a bald version of anyone else.
Do you make AI bald filters or face editing apps? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.
Plain advice before you go bald on camera
Pick by where you are. On a laptop, a browser tool is quickest. On your phone, an app saves the faff of moving pictures about. Either way, read what the page says about sign-up and credits first, upload only faces you have permission to use, and enjoy the result as a bit of fun.
If you'd like more quick looks you can share straight away, my guide to Snapchat filters walks you through them.

Frequently asked questions
What is an AI bald filter?
It's a tool that edits a photo so the person in it looks bald. It's meant for fun and previews, not a forecast of anything.
Is there a free AI bald filter with no sign-up?
Some web tools say so on their own page, while others need an account and credits, so check the free plan column and read the sign-up terms first.
Can I use a bald filter on a friend's photo?
Only with their say-so. A photo of a face is personal data once it can identify someone, according to the ICO's guidance.
Do bald filter apps work on iPhone?
Several tools here are iPhone apps with App Store listings, and others run in a browser on any phone or computer.
Is a bald filter accurate?
Treat it as a preview for fun. It's an edit of one photo, so the lighting, the angle and the tool itself all change how it looks.
