Roofing Estimating Software (2026): 10 Tools Compared

Roofing estimating software measures a roof from aerial imagery, photos or plans, works out materials and labour, and turns it into a proposal the homeowner can sign. Some tools give instant estimates to qualify leads, others run the whole job as a CRM. Ten options follow, in no particular order.

Climbing every roof to measure it before quoting is slow and, on some jobs, risky. That's why so many roofers now start with a measurement report or a 3D model and only go up once the customer is serious.

The tools below cover that whole path: instant estimates for website visitors, detailed roof reports, phone scans of the property, proposals that look polished and CRMs that track the job to the final payment. They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and each description comes from the tool's own website, read this week. For the wider software picture, my list of roofing software covers job management too.

Roofing estimating tools side by side

I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site names the tool, an account or a plan or version of it as free. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to start, so check the tool's own page before you sign up.

What HSE says about planning roof work

HSE says the law requires all roof work to be organised and planned so it's carried out safely. It lists the main causes of death and injury as falls from roof edges or openings, through fragile roofs and through fragile rooflights, and says many accidents could be avoided with the most suitable equipment and the right information and training.

For estimating, that means safe access, edge protection and the time to set them up belong in the quote from the start. Measuring from imagery helps too, because it cuts the number of times someone climbs a roof before the job is even won.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

What a roofing estimate should spell out

  1. Roof area, pitch and the number of facets.
  2. Materials, including underlay, flashing and ventilation.
  3. Removal and disposal of the old roof.
  4. Access and safety equipment for the job.
  5. Warranty details and the expected timeline.

Measurement reports, instant estimates and roofing CRMs

Measurement reports use aerial imagery or photos to give roof areas, pitches and lengths without a ladder. They're the foundation of an accurate estimate, and many roofers use them on every job they're serious about winning.

Instant estimate tools sit on your website and give homeowners a rough number straight away, which filters out tyre-kickers. Roofing CRMs then carry the lead through inspection, proposal, scheduling and payment. Bigger crews often use all three, while solo roofers may only need a measuring and estimating app.

Looking for something different? The list of job management software rounds up another set of tools.

Estimating habits that win more roofs

  • Show photos of the current roof. Homeowners rarely see it.
  • Offer clear options. Good, better and best helps people decide.
  • Send it while you're still in the driveway.
  • Follow up within a couple of days.

Teams with this need often check one more list, which our roundup of concrete estimating software compares.

Signs your estimating is paying off

  • Fewer wasted trips up ladders.
  • Proposals go out the same day.
  • Homeowners understand the options.
  • More inspections turn into signed jobs.

My plain advice on roofing estimating software

Start with how your leads arrive and how big your crew is. If most work comes from your website, an instant estimate tool earns its keep. If you knock doors after storms, a roofing CRM that starts in the field matters most. If you're a solo roofer, choose one app that measures, estimates and invoices.

Whatever you pick, check the first few measurement reports against your own tape. Once you trust the numbers, you'll quote faster and climb less. If customers ask about materials, my guide to types of roof tiles is an easy link to share.
