TikTok Business Center: What It Does and How to Keep It Secure

TikTok Business Center is TikTok's control room for businesses and agencies. It puts your ad accounts, TikTok accounts, Shops, Pixels, catalogues, audiences and leads in one place, and lets you decide exactly which team members and partners can touch each one.

If one person runs one ad account, you can manage without it. The moment a second person, an agency or a second brand comes into the picture, Business Center is what stops the whole thing turning into a password-sharing mess.

Here's what it does, who it's for and the security rules TikTok itself recommends, all from TikTok's Business Help Center, read in October 2026.

What TikTok Business Center holds

TikTok describes Business Center as a central place to handle your business and advertising activity, built so different teams or organisations can work together. These are the asset types TikTok says you can add:

AssetWhy you'd add it
Advertiser accountsRun and share ad accounts without handing out logins
TikTok accountsConnect the profiles your ads and content come from
TikTok One accountsBring creator collaboration tools into the same place
ShopsManage TikTok Shop alongside your ads
PixelsShare website tracking across ad accounts
Catalogues, audiences and leadsReuse the same product lists, audiences and lead data

Once an asset is in Business Center, you can share access with members inside it or with partners outside it, at the account level or the asset level.

The five things Business Center is built for

  • User management. Invite people as members or partners and give them permissions that match their role.
  • Asset and account sharing. Manage everything in one spot and decide who sees what.
  • Finance management. Billing options, payments, transactions and invoices across several accounts, in one view.
  • Security. 2-Step Verification and an email domain allowlist, which only lets approved email domains in.
  • Enterprise Business Center. A multi-tier version TikTok says is made for big brands and agencies with complicated structures.

TikTok sums the benefits up as collaboration, scalability, centralisation and accountability. The last one is the one I'd care about most: you can see which users have access to your accounts and keep track of what they're doing.

Who needs TikTok Business Center

You'll get the most from it if you work with an agency, employ a freelancer to run ads, manage more than one brand, or need finance to see invoices without seeing campaigns. If you're a sole trader running a single ad account yourself, it's optional, but setting it up early costs you nothing and saves a messy migration later.

It also helps if you sell through TikTok. Shops sit in Business Center alongside your ad accounts, so if you're getting started there, my guide on how to sell on TikTok Shop covers the seller side.

TikTok's own security rules for Business Center

TikTok is blunt about why this matters: Business Center grants full control over your business on TikTok, including modifying or deleting the business and adding or removing people. Admins can edit and manage all members and assets. These are the practices TikTok recommends:

  1. Keep the number of admins small, but have at least 2 Business Center admins so you never lose access.
  2. Make sure every admin's email, phone, authenticator, linked Google account and linked TikTok account is valid and under your control.
  3. Only invite members of your own company.
  4. Ask every admin to use a strong, unique password that isn't used anywhere else or shared with colleagues.
  5. Ask all members to turn on 2-step verification.
  6. Turn on the email domain allowlist so only your company's domains can be invited.
  7. Review who has access regularly, remove inactive users and give each person only the access their job needs.
  8. Check that every invitation was sent by someone authorised, and remove invalid members and partner Business Centers quickly.

TikTok adds that its systems may warn you, ask for extra verification or block an invitation when you add members, ad accounts or admin permissions. Don't click through those warnings on autopilot.

Business Center vs Ads Manager: which one does what

People mix these up, so here's the split. Ads Manager is where you build and run campaigns: objectives, ad groups, budgets, creative. Business Center sits above it. It owns the ad accounts and the other assets, decides who can reach them and holds the finance side, from billing options to invoices.

A simple way to picture it: Ads Manager is the workshop, Business Center is the building with the keys. An agency can work inside your ad account in Ads Manager while your Business Center still owns it. If you part ways, you remove the partner and the account, its history and its Pixels stay with you.

A ten-minute monthly access check

  1. Open your member list and remove anyone who's left or no longer needs access.
  2. Check each remaining person has the lowest role that still lets them do their job.
  3. Look at partner Business Centers and remove any you don't recognise.
  4. Confirm you still have at least 2 admins, both with 2-step verification on.

What happens if your Business Center is compromised

TikTok says it will suspend the account to stop further access, investigate, tell you the results and the actions you can take to regain control, and process reimbursements for charges that came from unauthorised activity. If you have an account manager, contact them straight away. If you don't, contact TikTok's customer support.

Two admins is the rule I'd never skip. It's the difference between a locked door you can open and one you can't.

Curious what the tracking code adds on top? I've covered it in my guide to the TikTok Pixel and what to check.

My verdict

TikTok Business Center is worth setting up the day you bring anyone else into your TikTok advertising. It keeps every asset under your company's control rather than someone's personal login, it puts invoices in one place, and the security tools are good if you switch them on. Have two admins, turn on 2-step verification and the email domain allowlist, and check your member list every month. If you're new to the ads side, start with the difference between a personal and a business TikTok account first.

Frequently asked questions

What is TikTok Business Center used for?

It's a central place to manage your TikTok ad accounts, TikTok accounts, Shops, Pixels, catalogues, audiences and leads, share access with team members and partners, and handle billing and invoices across accounts.

Do I need TikTok Business Center to run ads?

Not if you run one ad account on your own. It becomes worth it as soon as an agency, freelancer, colleague or second brand needs access, because it lets you share assets without sharing logins.

How many admins should a TikTok Business Center have?

TikTok recommends keeping admins to a small number but having at least 2 Business Center admins, so the business never loses access if one person leaves.

What is the email domain allowlist in TikTok Business Center?

It's a security setting that only lets people with approved email domains into your Business Center. TikTok recommends turning it on to restrict access to your company.

What should I do if my TikTok Business Center is hacked?

Contact your TikTok account manager if you have one, or TikTok for Business customer support if you don't. TikTok says it suspends compromised accounts, investigates and reimburses charges from unauthorised activity.
