Free Flyer Templates (2026): Where to Get Them and the Licence Rule Most People Miss

The short version: Canva, Adobe Express, Microsoft Create, Google Docs and Word are the best places to get free flyer templates in 2026. Canva and Adobe Express have the biggest ranges and let you print straight from the editor, but check the licence on any logo or photo before you hand out a single copy.

A flyer is still one of the quickest ways for a small business to tell a street, a school or an event crowd what's going on. You don't need a designer for it anymore. You need a decent template, your own words and a clear offer, and you need to know which parts of that template you're allowed to use the way you plan to use them.

Five places to get flyer templates

In no particular order, each one best for a different job:

  • Canva: best for the widest range of styles, from event posters to opening-day announcements.
  • Adobe Express: best when you want the template, editing and printing in one place.
  • Microsoft Create: best if your team already works in Word or PowerPoint.
  • Google Docs: best for a plain, text-led flyer you can share as a link in seconds.
  • Word: best for offline editing on a desktop where you already keep your business files.

Template ranges change all the time, so search the site for your exact event or offer before you start from a blank page.

Canva and Adobe Express in more detail

Canva describes its flyer range as free printable flyer templates you can customise, and it pitches them at exactly the kind of jobs small businesses have: announcements, launches and offers you want people on the high street to notice. Instead of starting from scratch, you take a template and change the layout, colours and words in the editor. The best ones already have a clear headline, a single image and space for the details, which is the layout that works on a noticeboard.

Adobe Express says its flyer templates are free to use with no card details needed, and once you've finished you can download and share the design anywhere. It also offers to have your flyer printed and delivered to your door from desktop or mobile in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. That's handy if you don't own a decent printer, because the colour on a home inkjet rarely matches what you saw on screen.

Microsoft Create, Google Docs and Word are the simplest routes if you'd rather stay inside the office apps you already use. They won't give you as many styles, but a clean flyer with one strong headline often does better than a busy one anyway.

The logo and photo rule people skip

Here's the part most people miss. Canva's content licence says it doesn't grant any right, and makes no warranty, for names, people, trademarks, logos, registered designs or works of art shown in its free content, and that you're responsible for working out whether a release is needed. So a free template that happens to show a famous brand's logo, or a recognisable building, doesn't give you permission to use that logo or building in your own promotion.

Canva's Pro content is licensed for a single design, and you can't download or pass on Pro content as a standalone item. If you mix in photos from elsewhere, read their rules too. Pexels, for example, says its photos and videos are free to use without attribution, but identifiable people may not appear in a bad light or in an offensive way. A photo of a smiling stranger on a flyer for a pest control service or a pharmacy is the kind of use that deserves a second thought.

The safest flyer uses your own logo, your own photos where you can, and template graphics that don't show anyone else's brand.

How to make a flyer from a free template

  1. Write the one sentence you want people to remember before you open any template.
  2. Search the template site for your exact use, such as a grand opening, a class or a workshop.
  3. Swap in your own logo, colours and photos, and delete any brand or person you don't have rights to show.
  4. Keep the details short: what, when, where and how to get in touch.
  5. Download a print-quality PDF rather than a screenshot of the preview.
  6. Print one test copy at full size and read it from a few steps away before you print the rest.

Getting more from every flyer

A flyer works best as part of a wider plan rather than on its own. If you want more design options, my Canva tutorial walks through the editor, and my guide to designing leaflets for print covers what changes when it goes on paper. For low-effort ways to get it in front of people, see these small business marketing ideas.

My verdict: start in Canva or Adobe Express, use your own logo and photos, and print one test copy before the full run. The template is the easy bit. The offer on it gets people through the door.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I get free flyer templates?

Canva and Adobe Express both offer free flyer templates you can edit online, and Microsoft Create, Google Docs and Word are good options if you prefer the office apps.

Can I use a free flyer template for my business?

Usually yes, but check the licence. Canva says it grants no rights for trademarks, logos or people shown in its free content, so replace any brand or person you don't have permission to use.

Can I get my flyer printed from the template site?

Adobe Express offers printing delivered from desktop or mobile in the US, UK, Australia and Canada, and Canva also offers printing from its editor.

Do I need to credit photos on a flyer?

It depends on the source. Pexels says attribution isn't required for its photos, but identifiable people mustn't be shown in a bad light. Always check the licence of each photo you add.

What should a flyer include?

Keep it to one clear headline, what's happening, when and where, and how to get in touch. A single strong image usually works better than several small ones.
