How Does Freecash Work? Offers, Holds and Withdrawals

Freecash works as a rewards site that pays you for completing offers from advertisers: you play a game to a set level, try an app, take a survey or shop for cashback, and the advertiser's payment funds your reward. The parts people miss are in its terms: offer credits can be held for up to 90 days, you need ID and a selfie for your first withdrawal, and only one account per household is allowed.

Freecash gets talked about as if it's a game that pays. It isn't really. It's a board of tasks posted by advertisers who want new players, app users or survey answers, and Freecash passes part of what they pay on to you. Once you see it that way, the rules about holds, verification and VPNs make sense. Here's the mechanics, from Freecash's own terms and help articles.

What you're doing when you earn on Freecash

The site describes itself as a platform where you can play games, try new apps, take surveys and earn cashback. Each task is an 'offer' with a goal, such as reaching a level in a mobile game or signing up to a service. When the advertiser confirms you've hit the goal, your reward is credited.

Type of taskWhat usually counts as doneWho pays for it
Game offersReaching a set level or milestone in a new gameThe game's publisher
App offersInstalling and using a new app as describedThe app's maker
SurveysCompleting a survey you qualify forThe research company
CashbackBuying through a tracked linkThe retailer

That's also why offers differ by person and country. An advertiser looking for new users in one market won't pay for a player somewhere else.

A quick way to judge any offer before you start: work out how long the goal will take you, not how big the reward looks. A game that needs a high level can mean days of play, and if the publisher later decides the install didn't count, the reward can be reversed. Short, clear goals with a named milestone are the safer bets, especially while you're learning how the site behaves.

The 90-day hold that confuses new users

Freecash's terms say rewards have no cash value until they're redeemed, and that it may hold offer credits for up to 90 days after an offer is completed. It can also withhold or reverse rewards for suspected fraud, abuse or chargebacks. In practice that means a game you finished last week might still show as pending. Before you start a long game offer, check its details for how long the credit is held.

Verification before your first Freecash withdrawal

  1. Verify your email address.
  2. Complete ID verification with a selfie and a physical ID document; Freecash says this takes up to five minutes.
  3. Reach the minimum balance for your region and chosen method.
  4. Choose your payout method and confirm.

After the first cash-out, later withdrawals only need enough balance for the method you pick. Freecash offers gift cards, PayPal and cryptocurrencies.

How PayPal payouts from Freecash are handled

Freecash's PayPal help article says PayPal withdrawals go through a payout partner called Tremendous with a security hold, a 5% withdrawal fee applies to all amounts, and withdrawals can't be refunded once sent. Gift cards may suit you better if you'd rather avoid the fee; check the fee note against each method before you confirm.

Freecash rules that can void your rewards

  • You must be at least 16 years old.
  • One account per person and one per household.
  • No VPNs, proxies or emulators.
  • An account not logged into for one year or more may be closed after at least 30 days' notice by email, and the remaining rewards expire.

The household rule catches families and flatmates out: two accounts on the same home connection can look like one person farming offers. Freecash is run by Almedia GmbH in Berlin, Germany, and its terms say breaking the rules can lead to suspension and voided rewards.

Why Freecash offers look different for each person

Two people opening Freecash on the same day won't see the same list. Advertisers choose which countries, devices and new users they want, and they won't pay for a player outside that target. So an offer a friend recommends may simply not appear for you, or may show a different goal. That's normal, not a fault with your account, and it's another reason a VPN gets you banned: it makes you look like someone in a market you're not in.

Getting the most from Freecash without wasting time

  • Pick offers that match apps or games you'd use anyway, so a hold doesn't feel like lost time.
  • Screenshot your progress in game offers in case you need to show the milestone later.
  • Read each offer's conditions: whether it's for new users only and what exactly counts as completion.
  • Don't pay for in-game purchases just to finish an offer unless the offer clearly says that's the task.

My verdict on how Freecash works

Freecash is an advertiser-funded task site, and it plays fair as long as you play by its rules: one account, no VPN, verify before your first withdrawal and expect some offers to sit pending for weeks. Treat it as pocket money for time you'd spend gaming anyway, not as a job.
