Is There a YouTube TV Student Discount? (Student and Military Deals Checked)

No. As of October 2026, YouTube TV's plan pages list no student price and no military price. The only reductions it shows are new-user offers: $59.99 a month for 2 months on the main plan, or $49.99 a month for 5 months on the Sports + News Plan, both ending November 16, 2026.

That surprises people because YouTube Premium does have a student plan. They're separate products, though, and the student price only applies to Premium. If you're a student, a service member or a veteran looking for a cheaper way into live TV, the savings come from picking the right plan and using the intro offer well, not from a verified discount.

What YouTube TV does offer instead

These are the prices YouTube TV shows on tv.youtube.com, as of October 2026, in US dollars:

OptionPrice listedWho it suits
YouTube TV main plan$82.99 a month, or $59.99 a month for your first 2 months as a new userHouseholds that want 100+ channels
Sports + News Plan$71.99 a month, or $49.99 a month for your first 5 months as a new userPeople who mostly watch games and news
Sports Plan$64.99 a monthFans who only want sport plus local channels
Spanish Plan$24.99 a month plus taxSpanish-language TV without a YouTube TV plan

Both intro offers carry the line 'No refunds. Cancel anytime.' on YouTube TV's page, so if you only want a short test, set a reminder before your billing date.

The catch with the intro price

YouTube TV's plans help page has a rule worth knowing before you get clever with plans. If you're on a promotional price and switch plans, you lose the promotion. So if you start on the Sports + News offer and move to the main plan in month two, the intro price is gone.

Pick the plan you'll stay on for the length of the offer. For the main plan that's 2 months, and for Sports + News it's 5.

Cheaper routes for students and service members

  • Share one membership in your household. YouTube TV includes up to 6 accounts for one price, each with its own login and library, as long as everyone lives in the same household. My guide to adding family members to YouTube TV covers the household rule.
  • Choose a smaller genre plan. YouTube TV now sells plans built around Sports, News, Entertainment and Family. You can't build your own channel list, but the Sports Plan, for example, is listed at $64.99 a month against $82.99 for the main plan.
  • Pause instead of paying through the summer. YouTube TV lets you pause from 4 weeks up to 6 months, so students can stop paying between terms.
  • Use YouTube Premium's student plan if you mainly want YouTube. If ad-free YouTube and YouTube Music matter more than live channels, YouTube Premium Student is the product with a student price.

Check the trial before you count on the offer

YouTube TV's plan page shows a 'Try 5 days for $0' trial as of October 2026, and its help page says trial lengths vary by plan. You're eligible if you're new to YouTube TV and haven't had a trial before. A valid card is needed at sign-up, and YouTube TV doesn't accept prepaid credit cards, which matters if you were planning to use a prepaid student card.

Students often wonder how it fits with Premium, and my explainer on YouTube Premium and YouTube TV clears that up.

How YouTube TV compares with a streaming student deal

For contrast, Hulu's own page, read in October 2026, offers college and graduate students the ad-supported Disney+, Hulu Bundle for $6.49 a month while their enrolment stays verified, then $12.99 a month. That deal doesn't include live TV, though. Hulu + Live TV is listed separately at $99.99 a month, and it isn't part of the student offer.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

So if what you want is shows and films on a student budget, an on-demand bundle may serve you better. If you need live sport and local news, YouTube TV's Sports Plan is the lowest-priced way into its live lineup.

My verdict

Don't wait for a YouTube TV student or military discount, because there isn't one listed. Use the new-user offer on the plan you'll stay on, share the membership with your household, and pause it when you don't need it.
