YouTube TV now sells 13 plans: the main YouTube TV plan with 100+ channels, plus genre plans built from Sports, News, Entertainment and Family, alone or in combinations. Every plan gets the same features, including unlimited DVR, multiview and 6 accounts, but you can't build your own plan channel by channel.
The old Base Plan is now simply called the main YouTube TV plan. The genre plans are cheaper ways in for households that only watch one or two types of TV. Here's the full list from YouTube TV's help page, and the rules that matter when you move between them.
Every YouTube TV plan available to new subscribers
YouTube TV lists these options, as of October 2026:
| Plan family | Plans available |
|---|---|
| Main plan | YouTube TV (100+ channels) |
| Sports-led | Sports; Sports + News; Sports + Entertainment; Sports + Family |
| Three-genre sports plans | Sports + News + Entertainment; Sports + News + Family; Sports + Entertainment + Family |
| No sports | News + Entertainment; News + Family; News + Entertainment + Family; Entertainment; Entertainment + Family |
Existing subscribers see the same list. Separately, there's a Spanish Plan for Spanish-language networks that doesn't need a YouTube TV plan at all.
Prices YouTube TV shows publicly
YouTube TV's public plan page shows prices for its headline plans. As of October 2026, in US dollars: the main plan is $82.99 a month, the Sports + News Plan $71.99 a month and the Sports Plan $64.99 a month. The other genre plans are priced at sign-up, and YouTube TV says they're offered at different price points. The full breakdown, including add-ons and intro offers, is in the YouTube TV cost guide.
What every plan includes
YouTube TV says all features on the main plan are available on the other plans too. That covers:
- Unlimited DVR space.
- Multiview, to watch up to 4 games at once on supported devices.
- Family Sharing, with up to 6 accounts in your household.
- The same limit on how many streams can play at once.
- Access to add-ons and premium channels.
The Sports Plan includes your local channels as well as the sports networks from the main plan, and YouTube TV suggests pairing it with NFL Sunday Ticket for out-of-market games.
How to switch your YouTube TV plan
- Open YouTube TV and go to Settings.
- Select Membership to see your current plan and the others available.
- Select the plan you want and follow the on-screen steps to confirm.
Your new plan starts right away. You can't switch in the iOS or Android apps, so use a computer or TV. If you're billed through a mobile carrier or internet provider, you'll need to contact them instead, and YouTube TV says some plans may not be on partner platforms yet.
The switching rules worth knowing
- Billing date moves. You're charged for the new plan immediately, minus a credit for unused time on the old one, and that day becomes your new billing date.
- Add-ons stay put. They carry over automatically, but keep their original monthly billing date.
- Promotions end. If you're on a promotional price and switch, you lose it.
- Recordings can vanish. If your new plan drops a genre you recorded from, those recordings leave your library. Switch back within 21 days and you get them back.
- Only the family manager can change the plan, and the change applies to everyone in the family group.
- Trials don't restart. You can switch during a free trial, but the trial period carries on from where it was.
That recordings rule is the one to watch. If you've been saving a season of a drama and drop Entertainment, wait until you've watched it, or plan to switch back within the 21 days.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Which plan should you choose?
- Main plan if several people share the account and watch different things.
- Sports or Sports + News if live games and headlines are most of what you watch.
- Entertainment + Family if you've no interest in sport and want shows for adults and children.
Whatever you pick, your recordings sit in each person's own library, as explained in how recording works on YouTube TV, and the household rules for sharing are in my family group guide.
My verdict
The genre plans are the best change YouTube TV has made for people who don't want 100+ channels. Pick the smallest plan that covers what your household watches, switch when the sports season changes, and remember the 21-day window before you drop a genre you've been recording.
