YouTube Studio Dashboard: What Each Card Shows (2026)

The YouTube Studio dashboard opens when you go to YouTube Studio or select your profile picture and then YouTube Studio. It's a set of cards for violations, analytics, comments and notifications. Not every card shows all the time, because YouTube hides some based on your recent channel activity.

The YouTube Studio dashboard is the first screen you see when you open Studio, and it's easy to ignore until the day something on it matters. A warning about a video, a comment waiting for a reply, a milestone you didn't know you'd hit. If you run a channel for your business or a side project, it's worth knowing what each card is telling you, because it takes about two minutes to scan and it can save you from missing something important.

Everything below comes from YouTube's own help pages on the dashboard and the Studio app. Your screen may look a little different from the description, because some cards only appear when they're relevant to your channel.

Opening the YouTube Studio dashboard on a computer

According to YouTube's help pages, there are two ways in:

  1. Go straight to YouTube Studio in your browser.
  2. Or, from anywhere on YouTube, select your profile picture and then choose YouTube Studio.

Either route lands you on the dashboard, which is the home page of Studio. The left-hand menu is how you move to the other areas, such as content, comments and settings. If you manage more than one channel, check which channel is showing before you read anything, because every card is specific to the channel you're signed in as.

Every card on the YouTube Studio dashboard

YouTube's help lists the cards below. You won't see all of them at once. YouTube says some cards may not appear, depending on your recent channel activity, so a missing card isn't a fault.

Reading the Channel Analytics card on your YouTube Studio dashboard

This is the card most people look at first. YouTube describes it as a quick overview of watch time, views and subscribers for your channel over the last 28 days, with your current subscribers and your top videos underneath. It's a snapshot, not the full picture. For the longer view, you'll want the full reports in Studio, not just this card.

One practical habit: look at the top videos list and ask whether the winners are the videos you'd have predicted. If a six-month-old video keeps showing up, that's a clue about what your audience wants more of.

The YouTube Studio dashboard cards that need attention first

If you only have a minute, I'd check these in order:

  • Channel violations. This is where warnings, strikes or decisions on appeals appear, so you'll want to know about it straight away.
  • Important notifications. YouTube says this can currently show copyright strikes or claims. It also says other notice types, such as updates about advertising accounts, don't show here yet, and to check your email for those.
  • Latest comments. These are comments you haven't replied to. Replying early tends to keep a conversation going, and my guide to seeing your YouTube comments shows where else to find them.
  • Known issues. If something looks broken, this card can tell you it's a wider YouTube problem and not yours.

That email note is worth remembering. The dashboard isn't a complete inbox. YouTube specifically tells you to keep an eye on your email for the notice types it doesn't show on the card yet.

Collapsing cards on the YouTube Studio dashboard

The Latest content performance card can be collapsed if you'd rather not see your ranking data. YouTube says it stays collapsed until you expand it again. That's handy if you share your screen on calls and don't want numbers on show, or if watching your latest video's ranking makes you check it every ten minutes.

Using the YouTube Studio dashboard on your phone

YouTube also has a Studio app for managing your channel on the go. Its help pages say the latest Android version only works on Android 11.0 and up, and that you must be at least 13 years old to download and use it. The iPhone version has its own system requirement, so check the App Store listing for your phone.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

The app is laid out differently from the computer version, and menus vary by app version, so I won't pretend to describe every screen. The idea is the same, though: a quick view of how your channel is doing, your latest comments and your content. If you manage a team, it can also be where you spot a problem first. I'd keep the app for checking and replying, and use the computer for anything fiddly such as settings.

If you can't find the YouTube Studio dashboard

  1. Check you're signed in to the Google Account that owns the channel, not a different one.
  2. Select your profile picture and look for YouTube Studio in the menu.
  3. If you have more than one channel, switch to the one you want. My guide to switching accounts on YouTube shows how.
  4. If Studio won't load at all, it may be a wider problem, so try my checklist for when YouTube isn't working.

A card you expected to see may simply not apply to you. The Latest post card, for example, only shows if you're eligible for the Posts tab.

A two-minute YouTube Studio dashboard check for small business owners

If YouTube is one of several jobs you juggle, here's a routine I'd suggest. Open the dashboard once a week. Read the violations and notifications cards first, then reply to your latest comments, then glance at Channel Analytics. Note one thing that surprised you. If you work with a freelancer or colleague, give them their own access to the channel in Studio rather than sharing your login.

The point of the dashboard isn't to make you stare at numbers. It's to stop surprises. A strike you didn't see, a comment that sat for a fortnight, a known issue you blamed yourself for.
